Don't do business with Lying, rude insurance agents

With our homeowners' insurance rising every year. Which is infuriating in itself. My wife and I shopped around to find a better premium. And we thought we had with Robert Lunsford at Country Financial. Unfortunately, I wasn't aware we needed to cancel our previous insurance. So by the time my mortgage provider informed me that my escrow account had paid out two premiums, over a month had elapsed. I called my former homeowner's insurance agent and discussed cancelling my policy. He was very professional and said he would cancel it from when the other new policy went active, "going back over 30 days". Although through a courteous conversation, he reevaluated our policy and was able to save me a significant amount of money. When I called County Financial to cancel their policy, I was informed that they could only go back 14 days, but the agent could cancel it fully. When talking with Robert, he was very rude and said he was only able to go back 30 days, and would look into it, and hung up on me. I called County back, and they informed me that yes, the agent can unwind the policy and send a full refund. Yet Robert proceeded to call me back and reconfirm that he was only able to cancel the policy back 14 days. Essentially lying to me. I will never do business with liars, and neither should you!

I called to get a quote for our church insurance, after giving them all the information. They wanted to know how much money we took in before quoting me a price. I informed them they didn't need that information to quote me a price. They insisted they did, I said well, I guess I'm talking to the wrong company, and said bye.

Country Financial will delay returning your money

Country Financial was a great company for our family for a long time. Lately, our rep who was good for so many years, has come upon a run of bad customer service. Recently, our plan changed from monthly payments, that we have used for 17 years, to a full 6 month premium, that was automatically charged to my account. When I called to notify my agent, my call and email was not returned, and he missed the appointment that the web calendar set for us to meet. Then I called the website customer support line and was told that although it was a mistake, they will have to hold my funds for 10 days (because they said it was a law and there hands were tied) before they can process my refund. I am thankful that we are at a spot in our life where we can handle missing 1800.00 for 10 days, but to some people this would be cataclysmic. We were those people when we were young. How could a company possible expect some making ends meet wait 10 days for their money back, on a mistake that was not theirs? I just want to warn others. I couldn't imagine all of the checking fees and overdraft charges if that was my whole funding source. Shame on this company and this fictional law that they have clearly misapplied from the intention. You could destroy someone's financial life.

Great Experience

I've had Country Financial for over 20 years and have been very satisfied. They've replaced two roofs (although I had to be assertive on one claim to get the correct type of shingles) and covered a complete home loss. Within 2 days of the house fire, I had several thousands of dollars in my account to cover expenses. They automatically sent 75% of my personal property coverage without an inventory which almost all of my neighbors needed to provide. I had one adjuster throughout the process, some neighbors had as many as ten. The settlement was very fair and professionally handled.

Misleading, Dishonesty and unprofessional

I worked with COUNTRY Financial and their agent Eric Miller in Warrenville, IL about five years ago to purchase a short-term business insurance policy for a temporary construction job. Instead of helping me secure the short coverage I needed, he pushed a multi-month policy that clearly benefited him in commission rather than serving my situation.

I paid for the months I actually needed, but even after the coverage ended, his office continued billing me and demanding additional premiums. Despite multiple communications stating I did not want to renew, invoices kept coming for a policy I had already canceled.

In my experience, this was misleading and not customer-focused. I personally would not trust working with COUNTRY Financial or Eric Miller in Warrenville, IL again and encourage others to be cautious.

Terrible cheap company

Terrible cheap company, it’s all good until you have a claim. I have been a customer 35 years and the handling of my claim is terrible. Water damage from high winds and I have to pay every thing on the exterior. Too expensive of insurance and horrible service.

We requested and received a basic homeowners email quote on 10/31/25.
We are just about through with escrow. I called on 12/4/25 and they couldn’t find the quote. They transferred me to an agent who handles southerlin, Oregon. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with her, starting the quote from the beginning again. She was certainly talkative! She said she would email me the quote so I would have it for our lender. I never received it! I am done dealing with Country Financial!

Had an issue with negligence from a windshield claim and was given a subrogation suggestion from the windshield claims agent. Instead of the company working with me on repairs they want to total out my car in this economy and it drives absolutely FINE with just undercarriage damages. The agent Jessica was smug and rude and over talked me several times. Yes I’m shopping screw these people!

We have had country financial insurance…

We have had country financial insurance for over 18 years. Something has changed this year. We have had nothing but problems with them. We have auto pay so they can directly take our payment out of our account each month. They have failed to withdraw the payment twice. Nothing has changed with our bank account in over 20 years. We make all of our payments on time and have exceptional credit scores. They have blamed us and have increased our rates. I no longer trust them and we will be looking for different insurance.

A one star rating is being overly generous

I closed on a new house on July 9, 2025, and was recommended to use Country Financial for our homeowners' insurance. We had a representative from their local agency (Buddy Johnson) come to the home to take pictures to submit for the policy. At that time, we were told our wood-burning stove did not meet their safety standards and were given sixty days to have the stove removed. This was reasonable, and we agreed we would have the stove removed. Two weeks later, we received a letter from Country Financial stating they were canceling our policy due to the non-removal of the stove. So, before they could leave us without coverage, I obtained new insurance and canceled our policy with Country. The last week of August, Country Financial sent us a check refunding our escrow for the policy. After numerous calls to our mortgage company, our Country Financial agent, and Country Financial itself, we were told to directly deposit the check into our personal bank account and then contact our mortgage company to pay back our escrow, which is exactly what we did. On September 8th, I received a call from our bank stating that Country Financial had put a stop payment on our refund check. They did this without warning, without any written or verbal communication, or any contact whatsoever. This has caused us to bounce checks, accrue bank fees, and put our relationship with creditors in poor standing. When we contacted Country Financial, we were told that they "made a mistake and issued our refund in the incorrect amount." We were also assured that a replacement check had been issued on September 4th for the corrected amount. As of the writing of this review (September 12th), we still have not received our money and are carrying a negative balance with our bank. Country Financial stated that they could put a stop payment on the refund that they supposedly issued on the 4th, but that it "could take one to two full business days to ensure the stop payment is in place" before issuing an ACH transfer, which could then take another three to four business days to hit our account. Bottom line, Country Financial will do whatever it takes to protect THEIR interest while screwing you over without a care. Do yourself a favor...RUN don't walk from this den of thieves!

I’m livid with this company

I’m livid with this company. I moved into my home 3 weeks ago, and we had 8 inches of rain last night. My home flooded, and there were some pretty significant damages. We filed a claim, had someone come out, and before even looking at everything he told us within 3 minutes the claim was going to be rejected because of “ground water” not being covered under any policy. Then he proceeded to walk around my house and take pictures just to continue building a case as to deny the claim. Who cares about my ruined basement as long as their profits are up?!? What the hell am I paying for!

5Star Country Financial-The Best Customer Services!

I had been with Country Financial for a long years to insure my car, house, and later started life insurance... all because they provide the BEST customer services such as my Rep, Darin Maddy, who definitely is one of the best agents; he's always being helpful and responsive.
I felt "guilty" to switch my auto & home insurance to Costco's in order to save me some $$ recently that had nothing to do with him; even though, he actually tried to help me lower my rates, but it was still too expensive comparing with Costco's (CONNECT). With all my respect, I would like to send him a BIG "THANK YOU!"

Exceptional NOT GOOD

Exceptional NOT GOOD. If the agent not making any money, they move on to another agent. Harrison Martin manager did have a child 4 weeks ago. Did not even reply. All the agents go through to the specific money manager. Same all the time. A huge letdown. Both agents are horrible. And the last one today, they were sending me another new agent. I paid my insurance all the time. Not one payment was late. Country for health insurance. Because I lived with partner for 5 years. Time and time again. At first she said don’t say you “ Smoke” and “ what medicine you use “ but then after all things change. You got to go in for panel or they will come to you. Just couple things she’s saying for customers.
