Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 72 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers strongly complained that the company significantly undervalued their residential properties, which caused important house sales and mortgage arrangements to unexpectedly fall through. Reviewers frequently reported that the staff members were extremely unprofessional, rude, and completely dismissive during the scheduled home inspection appointments. Buyers and sellers alike felt that paying for these unreliable valuation services was a total waste of hard-earned money. Though some customers noted that specific surveyors were surprisingly polite, chatty, and respectful during their property visits, the overwhelming feedback remained heavily negative regarding the overall service quality.

water leaking undetected

I have moved into the property and saw the an area of water marks on the ceiling in the living room which has a diameter of approx. 20cm. This was not mentioned anywhere in the surveyor report. I recently traced back the water leaking repairs carried out in this property and it showed that the seller reported a water leaking of the roof around that area just one month before I first had a viewing (the repair was never carried out and got cancelled on the day of exchange of contract - and I did not have this knowledge until now). I sent in the surveyor (whom I thought I could rely on) to check the property conditions in detail two months back then after the offer was made; however he has not been able to detect this water leak despite that he claimed to have used different meters to measure the walls. Surveyor’s name is Ian R Wilson, and his RICS number
RICS0092979.

Extremely poor

Good : Level 2 homebuyer survey completed really quickly. got it discounted as I was getting a Nationwide mortgage.

Bad: Specifically came back 'no repairs necessary on roof'. Skip forward to me moving into the property and the ceiling has been leaking from... the roof that needs a full repair. Roof surveyor asked 'Didn't this come up in the survey??' - clearly it's not like it magically happened 2 days prior to me getting the keys and moving in. Countrywide has essentially cost me £8000. Look forward to seeing what else they missed on the survey, best sell a kidney now in prep.

Genuinely awful. Avoid like the plague.

I genuinely don't have the time to write many reviews, but the experience today has frustrated me so much, I really felt the need, in the effort to help others.

I submitted a form last night saying that I would like a Full Structural Survey on my new purchase.

I received an automated email kick back, no problem, and someone will be in touch. No problem, all good.

During a client call this morning that I was on (it was 10am-11am) I received 5 phone calls from Countrywide! 5, in the space of one hour!!

09:58, 10:09, 10:13, 10:54, 10:56 each with a 27 second auto generated response of "we've been trying to contact you, yadda yadda"

In addition to that, I had 6 text messages! Spam at the next level, blocked, will never entertain ever again.

If this is the experience BEFORE I receive a quote, I have zero interest in doing business. Avoid like the plague.

And sure, if you wish to counter my version of events, go ahead, I have the screen grabs and call records, so you're not wiggling on this one.

Very poor company

Very poor company. They Broke a gas meter housing door during their survey and won’t attempt to have it repaired. I have to do all the running around to get it repaired. At my cost.
