Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 412 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with the subscription model, finding that payments were taken unexpectedly or that free trials converted into paid subscriptions without clear notification. Customers frequently reported issues with payments, including being charged incorrectly or for services they did not intend to use. The customer service was a major point of frustration, with many describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to reach a real person. Reviewers also struggled to obtain refunds, often being denied even when they felt the charges were unwarranted or the service unused. Additionally, the website itself was criticized for being misleading about subscriptions and for having broken links or inaccessible content.

Scammed me out of a annual subscription

Scammed me out of a annual subscription
I attempted to cancel an annual subscription and was treated by a bot that took me to the same page that took me nowhere. I then was charged against my will and was contacted by a bot. Although the courses I used were actually useful when I originally subscribed I will I will refuse to pay the charge through my credit card.

No customer service

I am amazed that legitimate companies use this website. Their customer service seems to be non-existent, using one of the least capable AI bots I have ever encountered. Their E-mail verification link is not working and it has been over a week with no response from a real person. The idea of paying money for this level of service is hilarious.

Wish I could leave less than one star

Wish I could leave less than one star. I have spent HOURS trying to figure out why I was charged for coursera when i never signed up for it. Not exaggerating - tried 30 emails and phone calls - never could reach anyone, never got a response, never got an answer.

Billed after cancelling subscription

I cancelled my subscription (just didn't have time unfortunately), but then was billed the following month anyway. Had to block them at my bank in the end. Support experience was shocking, bounched between several agents, had to retell story each time, and in the end they just closed the ticket with no resolution. Will never use again, or recommend, which is a shame. But seems from the reviews here this is business as usual for them :-(

Customer service is non existing!

Customer service is nothing short of a Mess! And to think they offer customer service courses in their site is such a disgrace! I paid for a monthly subscription and had a problem on which email address I used for logging in. And their resolution is freakin surprising! They told me to contact my bank! A company this big cant even do a simple account look up! Ask for a real person for assistance and that guy was even more Ai than the ai prompt they are using the first time I contacted them! Canned response and no help at all! No wonder stocks are falling! Never again Coursera!

very predatory

very predatory, and the website intentionally misleads about subscriptions. Does not respect Canadian law.

Useless support that sticks to "policies."

They know the sum is too low for you actually to sue them.

SCAMMERS scamming the very people who can’t afford

Their policy on free trial automatically cancelling the financial aid application I made is extremely convoluted, not clearly marked anywhere and a way to scam the very people who cannot afford full price. On top of it, my credit card was being charged full amount every single month while I was not even logging into the website at all. No warnings, no reminders, no email receipts, nothing for me to know what was going on! I haven’t had a job for 1.5 years, I’m stressed. So all in all a SCAM! Shame on you Coursera!!!

Don’t trust their emails

Don’t trust their emails! I received two official emails from Coursera stating my subscription “will be canceled tomorrow.” I relied on their written word, but they ignored it and charged me twice anyway (€84).
This is a blatant scam. They send you a cancellation notice so you don't manually cancel, then they keep taking your money. Support refuses to fix their own system error and just keeps closing the conversation. Absolute fraud—avoid at all costs!

It is one of the worst training sites

It is one of the worst training sites. You pay a significant annual fee, but only very superficial and info-commercial courses are covered with your subscription, you have to pay extra for any real training.

They support is almost non-exists.

They have no notion of customer…

They have no notion of customer relationships.

Their support team seems paid to refute whatever request is made.
They are garbage.

This company charges high prices for everything.
It is better to go to other platforms.

Charged €379 without any renewal notice

Coursera charged my credit card €379 for an annual subscription renewal without sending me any prior email or notice. I was not aware that my subscription would be renewed automatically, and I only discovered the charge by checking my bank statement.

They mention a 14-day refund period, but since I was never informed about the renewal, I had no opportunity to act in time. I have requested a refund and cancellation, and I am waiting for a fair resolution.

Atrocious

Atrocious, the worst refund request experience that I've ever had with a company. They give you a 7 day period where they claim that the app is free. No reminder about the subscription and they use the 7 day period as grounds for avoiding a refund since at that time they charge you which is the first instance that you're reminded about the charge.

Billing Problem

Customer support sucks. I wasn't even able to add my card to continue with the payment for subscription. The support assumes that it is a problem in my browser when the same thing happens all over even in mobile app. Clearly, that Stan from Coursera support doesn't read the screenshot I attached in the contact form.

Very poor customer service

I'm highly disappointed by the customer service that doesn't help you at all and closes down your case without having come to any result. I cancelled the free trial one day late and asked for help, as the monthly fee is quite high. They only answered that this is according to their policy and no refunds can be made. I wanted to continue at a later stage, but with this kind of unprofessional customer service, I'm looking for other options now.

Subscribed to a free trial

Subscribed to a free trial, but it didn't show what you have subscribed on the account. So when you try to cancel the subscription, it shows no purchases and therefor nothing to cancel, but in the same time every month they collect the payment. Really dissapointed and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Extremely Frustrating Experience

Extremely Frustrating Experience
I paid for Coursera last month. Just yesterday I planned my courses and everything was working fine. Tonight, I suddenly can’t log in at all.
Even though my password is correct and saved, I’m blocked with this error:
{"message":"too-many-requests","explanation":"You are temporarily blocked as you have made too many requests. Please try again later."}
I wasn’t doing anything unusual — just normal account access. Being locked out of a paid service without warning or clear support is unacceptable.
Very disappointing experience.
Looks scam to me
