Cowshed Interiors, customer care could be better.

I recently bought a stone based lamp from Cowshed interiors UK , online company. I checked the lamp on arrival for damage and could not see any, so thought all was well. It was not until 14 days later when I was setting the lamp up, I discovered that the bulb fitting was broken. All the peices were still placed within the fitting cup, giving the appearance that it was complete. There was no other damage to the cup or the packaging, therefore I presumed the damage must of occurred before the lamp was dispatched.
I reported the damage as soon as it was discovered. However , I was told that it was outside the 14 days reporting period for delivery damage insurance and the implication was made that I must have damaged the item myself! After many e mails back and fro they did agree to replace the lamp, if I posted it back to them at additional cost to myself.
This was obviously very disappointing as they refused to accept any responsibility for sending out damaged goods. A replacement lamp has now been received , but I shall not be using this website again as I have lost faith in them being able to rectify any problems if or when they occur satisfactorily.

Cowshed Interiors has an incredible record of customer service which is borne out by the unsolicited, unrequested messages of thanks, great service and great product on the testimonial page of our website - 'What Our Customers Say'. These messages are all organic and natural.

We believe that the account Julie has recorded in her review is correct, apart from....

What Julie omits to mention is that in the time that she had the lamp delivered, unpacked it, checked it and saw that all was well, sometime later the lamp was transported in the back of a car across the country to another property for where it was intended.

It was after this journey that the damage was discovered.

It is obviously difficult when a customer openly accepts that there was nothing visibly wrong with the lamp when delivered but then discovers damage after a couple of weeks and movement on a journey in the back of a car, so in an effort to do something to assist, we felt that sending out a replacement at our cost and completely free of any further charge (subject to the return of the 'damaged' item) was a reasonable offer given the circumstances.
