Entrusted my beloved 1983 vintage JV strat to Marvin for a long overdue set up from scratch (bought it new in 1983). The expertise, passion, value and fantastic customer service was quite something - a guitar is a personal thing which Marvin, along with all the other people working there, totally understand. Many, many thanks again for making me so very happy with the work you did Marvin. I now have a rejuvenated interest in playing (poor wife eh), and I'll pop in from time to time to have a browse around. By the way, I bought a nice Orange amp there a few years ago (aforementioned wife bought wrong one for Christmas!), and they exchanged/upgraded without quibble. Thanks again!
Contacted Cranes about a bass guitar I was interested in. My questions were answered almost immediately and politely. Placed order for the bass via the website and it arrived quickly, well packaged and with a good setup. Very happy with the service I received.
Whilst searching for an Epiphone Sheraton II Pro guitar in wine i came across a reference on a search engine for one at Cranes. What really surprised me was it was some £80 cheaper than the average price of this guitar and £60 less than the best price I had previously found for it. I decided to order the guitar along with the Epihphone case for it and was exceptionally pleased to receive them both on the next working day.
Cranes will from now on be one of the music websites I visit when looking for any other musical items.
When walking into Cranes you're always guaranteed a warm welcome by the knowledgable staff. They always have a great variety of guitars onsale and is definitely the number 1 music shop in South Wales
I wanted to buy a guitar for a member of my family as a birthday surprise. I am not musically inclined and didn't have a clue where to start.
The Staff at Cranes were brilliant, especially Dane. He advised and assisted me and at no point made me feel embarrassed about my lack of knowledge. He made it an enjoyable experience.
The right guitar was selected and my family member delighted with the choice. I would certainly recommend Cranes, it is quite obvious the staff have vast knowledge of the instruments they sell which I did not find to be the case in other music stores I had tried in Cardiff.
Hello,
Don't know who's going to read this, but, I hope it's taken serously. ..
I went to the Swansea shop today prepared to spend £500.00 on a guitar that I had looked at and wished for during my many visits to Cranes over about the last three years.(I had previously bought three ukuleles and many small accessories, and had great deals and service).
For me, a rank amateur, this was an instrument I had wished for and aspired to, it was to be a Christmas present from my wife.
However, after one of the assistants had retrieved the instrument I asked if anything could be done on the price..He asked his "boss"..
The reaction was very blunt and forthright, he stated that that was the price, and that there was no discount available.
I was a little taken aback, not because there was no movement on the price, but by the demeanor of the "boss" ... It was as if I'd done something really offensive by asking for a price reduction.
I asked if he could do something like throwing in a bag or case, he said he could offer a discount on a case, but that was all, he went on to remonstrate that this "was a business" and he "had saleries to pay."
I said that I would take the instrument at full price, but was disappointed that he wouldn't do more for me..
At that point he took the instrument away from the assistant and said that he
"didn't have to put up with this faeces. (Can't swear on trustpilot ) I'm taking it off sale", and refused to sell it to me...or, I guess anyone else who dares ask for a discount.
I find this behaviour confusing and unacceptable... . I had been polite during the conversation with no raised voices or offensive behaviour...I'm a respectable retired engineer ,and a grandfather also, my wife was with me, I was very embarrassed ...
I have dealt with this person before and found him to be helpful and courtious, and I assume he was having a bad day, but feel that his behaviour today was unprofessional, embarrassing and unnecessary. .
Yours a very disgruntled and embarrassed ex customer...

I've been looking for a guitar for a while and I've done most of my research online mainly because I feel a bit self conscious about going into a shop to try out instruments (not being the greatest guitar player in the world). I was pleasantly surprised at how laid back and friendly this shop was on my first visit ... After being welcomed and pointed in the direction of the guitars I was looking for I was pretty much left to my own devices (thank goodness) even being told I could come in as often as I liked to try things out and that I was welcome to grab a coffee and bring if with me if I wanted to.....
Today on my second visit (having visited several other shops in the meantime) I selected my guitar... Which turned out to be £24 cheaper in store than on GAK...
All in all a very positive experience.
Great amount of stock in both the Cardiff and Swansea store. They deal with a lot of different instruments ranging from orchestral to guitars and pianos. You will definitely find something for all levels of playing!
They also do some great deals for beginners and offer a school rental scheme with woodwind, strings and brass instruments.
The staff are friendly and very helpful with queries. They all seem to know there stuff, which makes buying there a lot more relaxing and unnerving. Will continue to shop here! :)
bought a new Hudson starter guitar for my niece online. great value for money under £70 and it came within a couple of days. Would definitely shop there again
Bought a caparison guitar from here - its a great guitar and the fact the staff were extremely knowledgeable & helpful when I had a few questions made a difference too. Top marks!!!
Staff are really knowledge and attentive. Massive range of guitars and other instruments. Especially love the Caparison range!!! I wouldn't shop anywhere else.
Fantastic people to deal with online and instore. Have bought acoustic and electric guitars from them in the past and can't fault the products or service!
