Stay away from Crosby Insurance

I went to Crosby for fleet insurance, and all was well until I received a call from Crosby, asking me to produce lots of documentation within the next 6 hours or face having my instance cancelled; speaking to Aviva. Crosby had used a similar company name, to take out the insurance, not my company. I cancelled the policy and heard nothing for 18 months until Court Baillifts arrived at my door, as Crosby, without informing me, had taken me to court for the missing premium. My solicitor is dealing with this, but funny, at no point did Crosby mention in their court papers that they had insured the wrong company.

The place to go for unoccupied house cover

I needed to get unoccupied house insurance, to cover the property for various perils not linked to the building work that was going on in it over the course of the project. My contractor had plenty of cover, but he couldn't cover my house against a fire not caused by his work (etc.)

I ended up calling no fewer than five brokers without any success in getting a proper quote. It wasn't even clear that the other brokers fully understood what sort of cover I needed.

Anyway, Crosby were a dream to deal with. The broker immediately understood what I needed, and what underwriter to approach.
This is what being a broker is all about.

Anyway, I got the cover I needed at a reasonable price, in double quick time.

I don't know why this sort of cover is hard to obtain, it's not 'bog standard' for sure, but it can't be that unusual. Anyway, I have cover now, and so my building work can start.

I will certainly get a quote from Crosby in the future. A good broker can save someone a lot of money. Going to one of the big comparison sites, where brokers pay a lot to get top billing is going to cost a lot of money, and that money will end up being paid by the buyers of the cover.
