The critique was interesting and made some pertinent points which I will use to review my cv. However, I've had 5 job offers in two days so my c.v. must have been reasonable.
I'm looking at this as being very useful if you are applying for jobs in a competitive field rather than a field where there is a shortage of personnel.

The initial free assessment is very enticing, so like many other people here I made a mistake and paid £219 for their service - CV, cover letter and LinkedIn profile.

As a Public Health scientist I was looking for help to make my CV more appealing to the broader private sector.

1) CV, cover letter, (and after WEEKS of chasing) LinkedIn profile were extremely generic despite me sharing with them detailed descriptions all my professional experiences. The graphical layout of the CV looked like something created by the first time MS Word user.

2) The person writing them clearly did not understand my work / sector. I was not offered someone else once I expressed my dissatisfaction. At some point, I was given feedback on "my role" as "Endeavor Streamings Technical Support Manager" and "the task of creating a call centre" - which is probably as far from my roles as Public Health scientist as it gets, and clearly came from someone else's CV. I dread to think about their data protection policy and practices...

3) The LinkedIn profile which in itself was worth about £80-100 was only provided when I got my bank involved to get a refund. The profile description was of an appalling quality (most likely written under 20 minutes), completely unusable and once more completely misunderstood my work.

I'm in the process of claiming a refund through my bank on the grounds of deception.

Save your money and avoid the paid services at all cost!

Starting getting calls and whatnot as soon as I uploaded my CV and profile on the site. I got calls from both the field I applied for initially and other fields that I am suitable for based on my CV, background and experiences. Not bad at all

Caroline Roberts provided a detailed and very helpful review of my CV. I would definitely recommend getting the free review if you are looking for a professional's take on your CV. However, I am put off with paying any money for the services of CV knowhow due to the large number of negative reviews from people who have paid.

I experienced a free trial to review my CV and it was very constructive and helpful. However, I have seen their paid packages and I think they are a little out of budget for people who likely just process the CV through software.

Not good value for money. Too expensive for what was offered. Would not recommend.

Regards the review of my CV I was quite interested with the overall summary and how I can improve the quality and format in order to make myself more attractive to potential employers Caroline Roberts certainly knows what she is talking about highly recommended for anyone who wants their CV analysed five stars and a big kiss ! 💋

Company is a scam. I haven’t even paid for the service but it seems like they send a copy paste review of your CV. DO NOT BE FOOLED although it may seem like they pick up on unique detail this is merely a computer software that is designed to pick up common words from you CV that fit a generic pre programmed sentence. I’m amazed this has managed to fool so many. AVOID.

They critically review Ed my CV which I appreciated immensely. However, it would have been even better if they provided specific pointers from my CV that I could improve; the review was in regards to my CV as a whole.

Do not give theses cowboys any of your money . My cv or should i say whats left of my cv has been compressed into one A4 sheet. The format was ineligible missed of my qualifications and the majority of my work experience. Bunch of con artists that need shutting down.

Got so much to say, but will try to keep this short. Paid £80 for a CV and cover letter and received an almighty shambles in return.
The first draft was so bad that I did not want to continue with the service, they will tell you it is subjective and a collaborative effort. After refusing to refund my money I agreed to work with a different writer, and was sent an equally bad first draft again.
When I spelled out everything I did not like with their work, they told me CV writing standards have changed in the past 3 years (apparently to a shambolic level)

My CV was mashed into the following paragraph, and my work history was butchered -

"Dedication and detail-oriented professional with hands-on experience managing diverse capacities, delivering customer service, and overseeing financial transactions.
Proven expertise in performing numerous day-to-day admin tasks, including preparing reports, formulating documents, and updating CRM. Proficient in providing exceptional customer experience to achieve business goals. Adept at managing phone calls / emails, greeting visitors, and overseeing correspondence. Instrumental in maintaining records, ensuring integrity, and accuracy. Experience in using enterprise resource planning programs, customer relationship management, and warehouse management systems. Instrumental in leveraging in-depth knowledge in accountancy programs including Sage 50 and Oracle. Ability to implement latest procedures to streamline processes. Innate ability to train, develop, and support teams to achieve organization objectives. Articulate communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills; foster and fortify productive professional relationships with individuals at all levels of an organization and from diverse cultures and industries"

I RECENTLY GOT A JOB WITH MY ORIGINAL CV (attached the colourful one).

I have also seen on Etsy you can buy really nice templates for 3 or 4 pounds. This would be a far better use of your money in my opinion.

Avoid this company at all costs
They have made the CV look worse with the layout and formatting, so i cant use it, and they refuse to give a refund, which im sure cant be right. So, I may take this up with trading standards or someone else.
Also, they pressurise you to give back revisions to the CV after 1 day and dont give you time to review it properly.
I bought the service without checking reviews, which has now cost me. Much like everyone else here, they also said I came across as a doer rather than acheiver, so looks like they give a stock response to everyone.

Was advised that my cv was visually uneven and presented me as in a poor light with too much detail.

The first draft was poorly formatted and riddled with mistakes.

After complaining I was ‘allocated’ to ‘one of our most senior writers’. I’ve no idea where Jay R is based but it isn’t in an English-speaking country based on the inconsistencies produced in the second attempt.

I’ve given up, I wouldn’t use either version of their cv if they paid me.

I have now lodged a chargeback request with my credit card company as I feel this was nothing more than a scam.

They are not worth using at all. They did not understand my career in a very niche market and failed to improve my cv at all.

The paid for service is a shockingly bad waste of money, bordering on rip-off. While the free critique of the CV was mass produced it did offer some tips. I signed up the the £129 re-write and the non-English speaking robot produced a totally unusable mess. It missed off my 23 year career and majored on a volunteer role. After asking for a revised version a similar jumble of jargon with no relation to me, my aims or career came back. Hugely disappointed with them. Would have given it Zero stars if that was a choice.

I was happy with my professionally prepared CV by CV Knowhow until I sent it back to add more experience to my credentials, when it was reviewed by another person and I was told the following:

- I found your design to be visually uneven.
- The way your CV is worded, you come across as a "does", as opposed to an "achiever".
- Too many job descriptions are task-based rather than results- based.
- Your career summary is not as strong as it should be.
- I did not find compelling language that would bring your work to life,
- Monotonous and overused phrases.
- 'This is a normal mistake for non-professional CV writers'. The problem is that it WAS written by CV Know how!

Having already paid for this service, I tried to reason/escalate but just received a dozen promotional emails. I think you can make up your own minds about this..

They are arrogant in the way that they are talking.
The feedback is useful, but reading others opinions, it looks like they are sending the same or almost the same to everybody for making people paying.

My CV is not professional, it has a lot of mistakes, and the lady told me that everything was a 'disaster' and my experience was poor, but I apply to 15 jobs. And I get answer from 9. (with my cv) including supervisor places....

Useful... But too much arrogant with the tips. In my case they were wrong with my cv...

Stay away.... Absolute waste of money. Bad response, Poor quality work. Spending bit of time in google can help u to build a better CV.

Shocking. Ruined a good CV and sent me a piece of work that a 10 year old could have written. Zero refund policy. What is their incentive to do a good job if you can't complain. Bunch of crooks.

I went for a free check only and the CV reviewer Caroline provided me a fair and clear review of the current state of my CV that undersold me. The feedback did help me to improve my CV and it is at a much better state than it was before. It's a free check so you can take the advice or not, the choice is ultimately up to you.
