Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

An excellent cycling adventure.

Spent three wonderful days cycling on quiet lanes through the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Freedom from the car, time to visit local attractions on the route and our suitcases magically transported to each hotel. A very relaxing way to explore and an escape from the norm - a great adventure.

Cycle break in Suffolk.

We thoroughly enjoyed our break in Suffolk and don't think it could have been bettered in any way. We were very impressed by the personal attention of the Team and the information we received in advance of our holiday. Thank you very much.

cyclebreaks - French holidays

Been on two cyclebreaks holidays now. One in the Loire and one in the Dordogne . They use good local companies, they know the holidays and the information is accurate. The Suffolk team are very helpful.

Cycle Breaks tours in Great Britain

So far we have booked two bicycle tours of Great Britian, last year in Suffolk and now this year in Norfolk, through Cycle Breaks and both times we have been very pleased with their service. Their bicycles were better than our own back home, the luggage transport service was super, the choice of hotels was excellent and the tours were very pleasant and varied. Since we both have trouble reading maps and following directions they even provided GPS tracks for our navigation device.

We are looking forward to our next tour with them in the near future.

Great cycling experience in France

A wonderful holiday cycling from Carcassone to Bezier. Accommodation excellent; every Bed and Breakfast Hotel was different in style providing, quirky, delightful, clean surroundings. All breakfasts were delicious and each morning we were provided with new gastronomic delights.
Cycles were of good quality with well sized panniers to carry all our needs.
Cycle path was a little uneven in a few places but manageable. The views along the route were very picturesque and we often stopped to soak up the delightful vista. Restaurants along the way provided good food too.
Each evening we went to a resturant organised by Cycle Breaks. All provided a great choice of very tasty food.
Overall a lovely break, the sun shone, the journey was interesting, the food delicious and the beds comfortable. We will certainly be going on another Cycle Break holiday!

Group walking break

I wanted guided walks for a group and Cycle breaks arranged everything - a first class hotel, 3 completely varied walks and excellent directions to the start.
Andy who guided the walks was knowledgeable, friendly but unobtrusive and very adaptable to the needs of the group.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this holiday.

Excellent experience

I have used Cycle Breaks to arrange a cycling tour of Suffolk with a group of 16 for each of the past six years, and have had a great experience each time. The customer service is excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the company.

The Danube to Vienna Cycle Ride

A well planned week with pleasant easy rides ending in the early afternoon.
The Normandie is a well found craft with a maximum of 100 passengers resulting in a good feeling of comradeship A booklet is provided illustrating
each days ride with a back up talk the evening before- a pity this is not also
accompanied by written notes.
The bikes are mechanically sound but very heavy and old fashioned, which did distract a little of the enjoyment just as that the ride are on level ground.
The food is excellent and cannot be faulted, the cabins being very comfortable and spacious. The crew without exception are very friendly
and courteous.
The hotel Weisse Hasse where we stayed for a total of three nights is situated in the middle of Passau is excellent in every way
To sum up we had a most enjoyable and memorable holiday.

Great support on a fab 3 day tour

Superbly organised tour. Great places to stay, with local expertise from Chris and Richard that really helped us plan the routes. Two examples of the extra mile - we bought wine at a vineyard, they collected it for us and delivered to our final destination, and I got a bad puncture on my own bike and Richard came out within 15 minutes to rescue me! Will definitely be booking again through them.

Just lovely

Very nice, friendly and personal organisation. They composed a tour for us just how we liked it. Route descriptions are very clear and hotels are always of a very high standard.
If you like England and like cycling; this is where you should book your holiday!

Short Cycle Break in comfort, and with history and countryside too!

This was our 4th Cycle Break with the same company. They have always looked after us well and been completely reliable. Carefully chosen, very comfortable hotels in good locations, top quality bikes, really well thought out and varied routes (avoiding busy roads almost completely). What is not to like! We do the two night single -centre breaks but actually cycle over three days...a half day on Day 1 and then two further days. Perfect for us. The one time we needed a replacement bike (my friend accidentally caused the damage) they delivered a new bike before breakfast the following day. What service!

Highly professional company providing excellent holidays with a personal touch.

We have been using Cycle Breaks for 19 years and the service provided has been consistently excellent. We have had a 3 or 4 day cycle break each year and in one year a walking break. The accommodation is good, the routes are well planned and provide the opportunity to shorten or lengthen recommended routes dependent upon weather conditions and energy levels and the luggage transport has never failed us. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys cycling but wants to relax in a good hotel each night.

A fabulous family break, that was not only healthy but because we were having fun cycling we weren't spending lots of money on other things.

Danube cycling trip

An excellent holiday - cycling along the Danube cycle path from Passau to Vienna v straightforward. Hotels all excellent (save for the hotel at Schlogen). Do not bother going to Maria Taferl, or Enns or Ybbs - waste of time. Melk was fabulous. Passau is worth an extra night as is Vienna. To get to Passau from Munich catch a taxi to Freising rail station (about 10kms north of Munich and catch a train from Passau from there. Transport of luggage passed without a hitch. You can leave bikes at the campsite in Tulln before catching a train to Vienna - highly recommended - but you need to get a voucher from Eurobike.

Excellent customer focus, lovely biking experience in East Anglia

The Suffolk bike tour is a unique experience for Continentals. Lovely biking during 6 days through the Suffolk Countryside, majority of roads quiet and little motorized traffic. Mostly good traditional style hotel accommodation, nice food. Very efficient service by Cycle Breaks supported by an excellent "navigating" documentation (which is mandatory as bike road markings sometimes lacking ) Adequate Biking Equipment (incl. e-bike).
Weather and temperatures were favorable for biking. Reccommend to use the longer route via Felixtowe on day 5 and avoid Ipswich.
Noteworthy: Friendly and helpful of People underway when we got lost.

A great way to experience the treasures of the Loire.

A perfect way to appreciate the beauty of the Loire and surrounding countryside. My brother and I spent 5 days exploring the towns, villages and chateaux whilst cycling through wonderful countryside. The route was easy to follow for the most part and the cycling was relaxed and gentle. We stayed in some lovely small hotels which were very welcoming to cyclists and we had some very good meals in the evening which were all selected for us. The baggage transfers worked well - and our bags were always waiting for us when we arrived. We had perfect weather - blue skies and a gentle breeze - not sure how it would have been in the rain! It was a wonderful holiday which I would recommend to anyone who wants to see France in a relaxed and fun way. Ideal for couples or small groups.
