Humane Member serivices
I'm a recent DCU member and applied for an auto loan. Part of the process is to provide all requested documentation. I had to call as the DCU website only accepted files that were up to 3Mb in size. my file size was > 5Mb. Bonnie was the DCU resource that helped me by providing an alternative way to submit the documentation. Not only that, but after uploading the same documentation twice on my part, she was patient and thoughtful and helped me ensure that my submitted documentation was correct. Thank you DCU for having HUMANS that are capable, patient and thoughtful of the membership.

Above & Beyond
Agent Maryame went above and beyond to help me out. I had called in about an annoyance with the MFA where the checkbox claiming Trust the device in the future, doesn't really work. I have to continually do the MFA. I am ok with the 2 step, I just don't get why have a check box that makes it appear as if we can temporarily skip the 2nd one. While it took some time, she chatted with IT and explained the reasoning behind a 2 step login everytime. I work in technology product mgmt so I understood what she meant or tried to convey from the IT dept.
She reviewed my savings accounts and suggested optimizing storing my balances to maximize my dividend yield from the accounts. She also acknowledged my tenure of DCU membership and frankly left me feeling lot more pleasant than what I had started the call with. Having started my own career in customer service, I am so glad DCU hires excellent staff like Maryame.

Stone age Policies
In 2024, my account was hacked. No money was lost, but DCU reviewed the case and made a decision to restrict my online access to my account until my loan is paid. It is now 2026 and I do not have digital access to my account, which makes it impossible to link my account and loan repayment to the budgeting program I want to use. Essentially, DCU refuses to review the case and lift the restriction in order for me to digitally access my account information as if they are in the stone age instead of the technology age. It is my opinion that DCU does have the technical capability to review my case and lift the restriction, but they are determined that once the decision has been made (2 years ago with on time payments since), they cannot reverse the decision. This stubbornness is poor customer service no matter how politely they reiterated that their decision is in stone and have not given me a reason for the decision to start with.

It had been almost a month of back and forth and more document requests but today I finally had a rep who spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me going back and forth with underwriting to get everything cleared.
Disappointed
DCU used to be one of the best banks in this state. Now, I wouldn't recommend anyone to this bank. They continue to mess up my insurance with the loan department. No matter how many times I submit the documentation, they add money to my loan and then I have to send the SAME documentation to have it put back to normal. They want you as the customer to do all the work instead of looking I their data base (one employee did and was able to fix the problem, this time). Also, I’ve been banking with them for over 10 years, they still deny me photo banking for checks. They can’t give me a valid reason why, they just know I can’t have it. Every time I call, I’m sent in circles and everyone has a different response. I think it may be time to look elsewhere.
