Extremely disappointing experience with…

My experience with Dealum has been extremely disappointing. Despite repeated requests, they refuse to handle data deletion in compliance with GDPR standards, insisting on a 30-day waiting period for company data, which is both excessive and unnecessary.

Their customer service has been unhelpful, providing excuses instead of solutions and failing to take accountability as the platform provider. Even though they claim company data is not protected under GDPR, they still bear responsibility for ensuring its timely deletion when requested.

The entire process has been frustrating, time-consuming, and lacking professionalism. I cannot recommend this platform to anyone looking for reliable and transparent service.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience with Dealum has not met your expectations.

To address your concerns directly:

Our approach to data handling is centred around minimizing the collection of personal data wherever possible. For clarity, company fundraising applications on our platform are classified as business information rather than personal data and therefore are not subject to GDPR regulations. This distinction is outlined in our Privacy Policy.

That said, we take all data-related requests seriously. For personal data, we offer immediate deletion in full compliance with GDPR. We also offer to handle the deletion of fundraising applications on the startup’s behalf, with a timeline of up to 30 days, depending on the response times of the organizations they applied to. However, we were unable to proceed as we did not receive confirmation from you.

We understand your frustration, and we deeply regret that this process has been time-consuming for you. Our intention is to provide a platform that prioritizes data ownership and security, especially compared to traditional methods like emailing pitch decks, where data deletion is far less controllable.

We value your feedback and are actively working to make our processes more user-friendly, efficient, and transparent. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to discuss this further – we’re here to help.

Best wishes,
Seren

In the startup ecosystem space from…

In the startup ecosystem space from accelerators to incubators, I think Dealum is the worst of its kind a scam that will unravel itself when the time comes.
Businesses like these should be driven to court.
1. They charge you an access fee to enter the platform.
2. They show you VCs/Programs you can apply to
3. ...Poof, it's a black hole

No application tracking, no visibility on open rate, no access to people to directly reach, and no accountability on their front.
They are in the business of taking advantage of startups who are looking to raise, not actually what they say

Hi Akash,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that your experience with Dealum didn’t align with your expectations.

To provide some clarity:

1. Dealum itself is completely free for startups to use. The platform serves as a tool for angel investor groups, accelerators, and other organizations to manage their deal flow. Any fees you may encounter are set by those organizations and go directly to them. More importantly, startups can access and apply to many opportunities on Dealum without any fees as the majority of organizations do not ask for application or program fees.

2. We understand how frustrating it can be to feel like your application disappears into a void. To help with this, we developed an application progress tracking functionality that provides companies with high-level information on whether the deal room is currently processing the application or has finished reviewing it. Companies can also message organizations directly through the platform. However, as the platform provider, we don’t control how individual organizations choose to engage with applicants.

We continuously encourage organizations using Dealum to communicate decisions promptly and provide feedback to startups. Improving transparency and communication is at the core of what we’re working to solve in this space. While we may not have solved every issue, we’re committed to making the process more transparent and accessible for everyone involved.

If you’d like to share more about your experience or specific areas where we can improve, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly. We’d appreciate a chance to address your concerns further.

Best wishes,
Seren
