5 stars not enough for the staff in this pharmacy ,always polite courteous and very helpful and understanding at this difficult time that our family are going through,
DEARS PHARMACY AND TRAVEL CLINIC, High Street, Tranent EH33
Although I don’t live in the area, I work in Tranent and had reason to visit Dears Pharmacy in Tranent when a problem flared up during my working day.
The pharmacist was able to see me and gave me advice to help my situation with follow up advice if this didn’t work. She also dispensed something to help with another issue I’m having -all this and I’d have struggled to get to a doctor for similar advice / treatment.
I was impressed by the knowledge and friendliness of all staff who dealt with me. I’d recommend this pharmacy’s first line services.
My dads practice in East Kilbride(not where I live)ran out of his vials for his nebuliser and had no alternative.Poor show for an 80yr old with COPD and asthma. He had none left and needed this.I popped in and explained his predicament.Your staff were amazing and very, very helpful and couldn’t have been kinder.Thank you
The employees at our local Dears are kind and decent people but the technical systems they are working with, and processes the pharmacy uses to operate are truly woeful.
The staff usually can't find the prescriptions sent from the surgery. Most of the times there is a prescription for a member of my family we have to either get it sent a second time or to just repeatedly ask for them to check different inboxes until it gets found. Then you have to wait at the pharmacy for 30mins for them to prepare the prescription (a standard, if totally bs practice of modern pharmacies), but they then usually forget to call you. On *four* occasions I've waited more than 45mins (on two occasions with a sad sick infant) only to have to go up to the desk. On one occasion I waited 1.5 hours. Then you have to wait while they riffle through a literal pile of bags of prescriptions they have behind the desk.
If it helps to end this madness I would be very happy to evidence these experiences.
Went to the pharmacy this afternoon to ask if someone could examine my painful ear. Was seen immediately by Dayne who quickly diagnosed inflammation and prescribed ear spray. Great service when GP practices are so busy. Highly recommend.
Top class and friendly service from Danielle at Dears Pharmacy in Dunfermline!
Had stubborn ear wax removed. I can hear again.
Thank you!
I can only provide a rating on the basis of having tried on several occasions to book the advertised general health check, not on any visit to the stores. Having filled in the health questionnaire on two occasions, the final part just indicated that the web page was not functioning and with no means of moving the process forward. On another occasion, I submitted the form and heard nothing back. Most recently, I tried again to book an appointment, but could not locate the right page- all the links were dead ends or just returned to start. I emailed to ask for a page link but never heard back. Having rung one of the branches, all they could suggest was to come in person to make an appointment. My impression is that the website is not fully joined up and of little help in ordering services.
Again closed and no weekly meds, but tomorrow I will have today's taken off me? I am on fentanyl patches and ran out on Monday, so who do I blame both Dears and my Doctors surgery? 3x Ordering patches and still nothing. I was meant to get them last Tuesday? What a company, you go into the Oxgangs shop and ask for the pharmacist, and get a choice of two. Another shop must be missing theirs. Oh and the tablets they took from my daughter would have done me tonight and tomorrow, now I will have to purchase them from the local dealer who is always there when needed. Unlike, Dears.
Glenrothes Pitteuchar - You need to train your staff to let the public know that they can order their prescriptions via your app. You can order via the app without putting the prescription into the surgery. The chemist does get approval from the surgery. The app even notifies you when the prescription is ready. I was told today by 3 members of staff that this facility did not exist when I knew it did! Made me out to be a fool in front of those queuing. You really need better training.
If you could summarise the customer service of this branch you could compare it to a 1942 Germany. Worst pharmacy in Scotland
fast acting and friendly service when my partner needed to get extra medication for our 4 year old
I attended Dear`s Glamis branch. This is a very busy pharmacy so a little bit of customer patience goes a long way here. Everyone coming in for prescriptions seemed to be attended to in a timely manner by very efficient counter staff. I was in to get my ears done and glad I followed a friends recommendation to come here.
Particular thank you to Anne Marie who really went the extra mile to unclog my ear canal. Required an extra appointment, at no extra cost, to finally clear deep compacted blockage. A very thorough and professional job.
I don`t normally give 5 star reviews but going 5 stars for this one.
Dears has taken over Stockbridge Edinburgh pharmacy but does not order repeat prescriptions. Great pity, We'll change to a pharmacy that puts patient first.

Unimpressed!
Unprofessional arrogant staff that cannot be bothered to help. Extremely low customer service. Unable to advise on basic problems with administration. Reactionary, vindictive, petty, staff with poor training and worse people skills.
Pre-booked a flu jab, but silly me got dates mixed up and turned up a day too early. However they still fitted me in there and then. Staff were great!
Some of the pharmacy team here are amazing! They are usually helpful and kind, which is important when dealing with GP mess ups and accessing vital medications.
But some of the team are bad listeners which makes them incompetent! Also, don't put slips into the dispensing machine on the outside - they don't check it at this branch.
My issue accessing medications from a prescription slip got resolved by a great pharmacist today, but not before 2 members of staff did not listen to what I was saying and were inputting incorrect info into the computer.
Danielle, what can I say. I visited Dunfermline branch to have bloods taken for health reasons.
Danielle explained process, was patient ensuring I understood the process.
I have now changed pharmacies to Dears because of the professional and friendly service.
Now they can order my regular prescriptions at ease.
Thank you Danielle!
I visited the Dunfermline branch 29/8/23 and was helped exceedingly well by Ashley who went out of her way to find what I needed
Dears pharmacy is excellent and delivers my medication to me on a weekly basis. The staff in the pharmacy are always very helpful and friendly and kind. I would be lost without them.
My Mum booked in for ear micro suction due to the long NHS wait at Dears Drylaw. She was a bit apprehensive as found it painful previously whilst done at the local health centre.
She needn't have worried, Erin was fantastic with her and the treatment was painless, quick and worked a treat. She is no longer deaf and felt instant relief.
Erin was really knowledgeable and talked us through it all (albeit my Mum couldn't hear a thing🤣). Would highly recommend and would definitely go back if she needed it again.
