Rhodium plated gold solitaire ring

My daughter’s rhodium plated gold solitaire diamond wedding ring was accidentally placed in the washing machine. When it came out the rhodium plating had washed off and the diamond solitaire was lost. I would expect a wedding ring to last for life even if accidentally washed.
A replacement ring will cost £1250 so it wasn’t a cheap item of jewellery and I wouldn’t expect a stone to simply become “unglued” from the mount.
Just poor quality at an inflated De Beers brand price.

Beautiful jewelry but poor after care…

Beautiful jewelry but poor after care and customer relations which you would not expect at this level of product quality and cost. We bought an engagement ring from here, admittedly quite some time ago. It ended up breaking at the point where the ring met the diamond. My husband contacted them to try to have it mended and they were terrible. He sent it in and they spent months with it only to finally tell us it was our fault it had broken because we didn't get it serviced. Serviced? It's a ring! They also said we must have caught it on something, which is possibly true but again it should be robust enough to withstand being worn. Either way, we were happy to pay for it to be fixed but had to constantly chase them for answers. They just held onto it and didn't get back to us. After several months of chasing they finally curtly told us they no longer did that style of ring and it could not be repaired. My forever ring from De Beers was not so forever.
