If I could give this company -0 stars I would!
Please please please check with your gym if they use this company before registering with the gym.
They decided to send a threatening email at 8pm on a Friday about a membership I never used and cancelled.
This company will put you in debt and attempt to take money report them to your bank if you are signed up with them and request the bank to block any of their attempted transactions.

* Edit- after leaving this review I received an email, they were removing the late payment fee and they would be in contact with the company to see what they could do, all is now resolved with just a payment outstanding for the original months notice, thanks Nichola* Wish I had researched a little more before signing up to my toddler group. I was under the impression I was paying in advance for my child's sessions via direct debit, as toddlers do, my son lost interest and no longer wanted to return, I advised the coach it would be out last session then I cancelled the direct debit. Over a month later I'm told I've got last month's to pay plus a £30 late payment fee and I still need to pay next month's as require a months notice, nearly £100 for the 2 months we are not attending?? This is a significant amount of money for nothing when on Unpaid maternity and when everything else has increased. Disgusting!

Do not use this shambles of a company. They are putting people in debt. They are evil and this should be made illegal how they handle the late payments.it’s almost a scam, I’ll be reporting this terrible company and I hope others do the same.

What the hell is this? You tried to take £100 direct debit out of my account. Luckily I transfer money out of that acc to another one. I’ve read about gym memberships.
Yes we are members at David lloyd gym… but we go every week. So what are you doing? Reported!!

Absolutely awful!
Cancelled my membership at the gym due to having to leave work due to ill health.
Explained all this in detail 3x over with the gym itself.
Now got this lot on my back with nasty and threatening emails. I can not however reply to the emails and can’t find a contact email anywhere!

Trying to get my money back from a cancelled DD due to medical issues. It was a gym Ferndown Fitness Ferndown and threatening email and texts. You are not legally allowed to do this and the gym owner said if circumstances change I could cancel direct debit and told her why

My gym used this company for debiting my bank account. I wanted to cancel my subscription so I sent an email with query. I received fast reply with all informations needed. Never had any threatening letter or any additional charges from this company. I was bit concerned when I read reviews on this website, but cancellation went smoothly :)

Signed up to my uni gym then went to see it and use it to find it unusable and not suitable for myself.
Sent emails to cancel the membership, heard nothing until a month or 2 later when I was told it'll cost me £75+ to cancel it.
I've never even been to the gym at the uni because it just isn't suitable and is anxiety triggering.
Now dfc chasing me for money for something I've never been able to use.
Currently seeking legal advice elsewhere.

30 pounds penalty fee for 16 pounds returned DD??????????????
My DD returned to my bank account somehow and I haven't been to the gym for two weeks. Now DFC is trying to charge 15 pounds penalty from my card. The customer service advisor then threatened me that if I did not pay it will increase to more than 30 pounds penalty and potentially more than 45 pounds??? (NOW IS 30........) It is brutal, barbaric, and fraudulent! !!

Reply from Debit Finance Collections Plc
It is brutal and it is a threat to privacy for anyone who uses it.
I cancelled my membership due to health issues and have not been to gym since. How ever you have tried to take money from a bank account no longer used every month and charged me for missed payments.
I now have a debt with you for a service I have not used.

Worst company ever - do not use!!!! Worst customer service of any payments company I have ever dealt with - they DO NOT answer the phone (even though they say they do). I cannot believe the Jiujitsu gym my son was at signed up with this company to manage their payments, very poor judgement, this has been one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. I will never, ever use another gym or other company that uses this particular payment company. They are arrogant, rude, and they make mistakes and try to blame you for them. I can't believe I'm in a situation where I am a customer of a gym and I'm stuck dealing with these people. I have cancelled my membership but they keep taking payments. And of course the gym and this company don't communicate with each other, they both point you to the other. If I could give less than one start I would.

Fraudulent! A direct debit sum of 129.9 was taken from my account, for a gym membership I used for one month and cancelled over a year ago because I was pregnant and it was a type of exercise not allowed during pregnancy. I will report this company unless I receive this payment back ASAP.

Absolute disgrace of a company. Cancelled gym membership for three of us. Cleansed my bank account of DD on the 26th, when they take the payment on the 25th. DD for these said next payment was the following month so I cancelled it to ensure no monies were taken out as given a months notice. Guess what they were late trying to take the payment so it bounced. They're trying to charge me £45 for their mistake. Tried calling them but they don't answer the call. Got evidence of everything so see you in court DFC.

Received an aggresive email today demanding payment for a missed DD plus an additional charge of £15. Payment was for a gym membership cancelled on 18th October 2022. Payment missed was yesterday, 1/03/2023!!!! This company have been fraudulently taking money for a gym membership not used or needed since December 2022, and then have the cheek to demand that this is paid PDQ to not incur additional costs. Me thinks a letter to the Financial Ombudsman coming on, especially in this cost of living crisis. Shame on you DFC. Was going to go back to this gym, guess what, not anymore!!!!

Ask for a full month to cancel even when out of contract. Really crap service. Just out to con.

Very concerning debt collection practice, likely for smaller gyms. Like most of you, I and my partner received an email from them because we cancelled my direct debit for Woughton 1Life gym. Usually this is a way to cease gym memberships easily, and most gyms do not care, but in the case of Woughton Leisure Centre I suppose they like to claw back extra money from ex-members? £36.99 then another £15 every reminder. I find this utterly unfriendly to customers and frankly bizarre because you have not lost anything in terms of us using the gym or services. We're simply not members anymore and were not aware that you required some sort of 1 month breakup notice that -again- many gyms do not require. I do not see why 2 regulars who have been loyal members for various periods over the past few years (and might have been in future) should be punished for a mistake and would encourage you to adopt a more customer friendly approach in order to retain future members and avoid negative feedback such as this. I will be in touch with you and with Woughton LC to hopefully resolve this, as we are quite shocked to receive such a harsh email regarding what amounts to shadow fees at a time when inflation is hitting hard. Also you have my name and address wrong... I did explain this to the staff at reception but they apparently did not read the name on my debit card correctly...

Awful company, I joined the gym in October 2021, I went for a month then cancelled my membership as I was moving out of area, both me and my partner cancelled our memberships at the same time (he's had no issues). I've received an email from yourselves stating I owe £494, I have been informed by my old bank TSB that DFC has been attempting to take £30 a month still out my old bank account when the membership has been cancelled. Obviously there is no money in this bank account as it doesn't get used, but why would I be paying for something anyway I haven't used since November 2021, and especially when I don't even live in the area anymore. I will not be paying the £494 for something I cancelled and haven't even used and I don't appreciate the threats of sending it over to a debt collection agency.
