Like other people here, I've had a direct debit taken from my account! Not set up by myself - clear fraud. Will make my bank aware.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me twice within 3 months at the end of last year, I a payment go out to Dennis in September/October, stopped it and asked my bank about it.
3 months later they set up another DD this time I got by bank to cancel it completely and claim back the money.
Just logged in to my account to find another DD has just been set up this time to TIME INC. -UK- LTD. They are another magazine publisher, not sure yet if connected to Dennis, but those of you who had Dennis take money without authorization check that TIME INC. -UK- LTD. aren't trying to do the same too.

I will begin with the positive and my reason for one star. The Week is an excellent publication and the customer service representatives have been pleasant to deal with. It stops there.
In early February 2018, I ordered a subscription of The Week and The Junior Week to be sent to my family in New Zealand. This was fine for the first 10 months, but they have received nothing since Christmas.
In December I received a renewal notice, which I renewed on December 28th. I then received a letter saying that they could not renew it as my card had been declined. I contacted my bank and this was not the case, so I confirmed the details again. I was then told that a Direct Debit had been set up and asked me to provide a copy of my bank statement! I declined to do this and phoned instead. I was then told that my details were not being recognised, as my son in law had renewed the subscription himself. This was certainly not the case, as he confirmed. I asked them to telephone me, via an email, which did not happen, but received a reply that they would do asap. They did not, so eventually (Feb 12th) I phoned them and detailed the problem and was told it was now sorted out. I went to Manage My Mags yesterday to check and my (original) customer number was not recognised. I then checked my Bank Account and nothing was showing. I have received no confirmation of the order.
I have wasted so many hours on this problem and my son in law and Grandson are without a birthday present.
I have just tried to email at the address given in the reply. It is not a valid address, according to my mail server.
March 11th
I have since heard that my family are receiving copies, but I have had no notification from them that my order has gone through and could only check the account by using my son in law's name. I had thought that I was the customer!

Just to join everyone else......I too have had an attempt to take money from my bank, this has no caused me fees!! All you say is someone seems to be trying to commit fraud with my account? I would say if they are doing that they would be doing it for a hell of a lot more than a magazine subscription!! You seriously have a problem that has cost myself and others money. I will be taking this further

Reply from Dennis
I too have had a Direct Debit amount of £30.99 taken out of my bank account today. You clearly have a data protection issue and fraud issue which I will be reporting to the ICO which, if you have not already done so, should be doing yourself.

We have also had fraudulent subscription set up. This needs investigation asap by your company. Contacting fraud team at bank now.

I have also had a subscription set up for £17.45. Never heard of your company. Given the amount of people saying the same, I think you need to look into why and how this is able to happen.

You have fraudulently taken £17.45 from my account which I can ill afford. I am very distressed as I don't work due to disabilities. I don't know you, I don't know how you got my bank details. I have reported you to the fraud agency of my bank. I can see you have done this to loads of other people. This is actual daylight robbery!!

Reply from Dennis
Please check your emails as I emailed this morning about you taking money out of my account and I have never even heard of you until today, I expect a refund and for my bank details to be removed from your records instantly before I take this further.

I also had a subscription to the week set up, whoever did it knew my name, bank details and my address. Dennis publishing have since cancelled it but how they got the details to set it up is worrying.

Reply from Dennis
Like others, my wife was signed up for a subscription to The Week without her knowledge. Whoever signed her up knew her name, address and bank details. Dennis is either misusing customers' data themselves from past subscriptions, has a glitch in its systems, or is being systemically targeted by hackers/fraudsters. This is a very serious problem that Dennis needs to sort out.

Not surprised to see all the negative reviews. I have tried to contact re non receival of the two latest digital issues of Auto Express but no response to my three emails other than the robot meaningless nonsense about we’ve received your email and will get back to you shortly. How said that yet another publishing icon appears to have lapsed into ineffectual mode.

The worst customer service from a company in a long time. Still waiting on a lost magazine, I was told 10 days then 5 days to receive a copy, 5 days have come and gone and still no sign.
They show utter contempt for their subscribers as a result I have cancelled all the magazines I had with them.
