Support with locating account

Had to call as my surname had been inputted incorrectly and Michelle was really helpful in identifying my deposit and talked me through how to retrieve my funds.

Getting nowhere with my issue

Getting nowhere with my issue, so I'm complaining here in the hope if me getting my money back.
My tenant bought my property and the deposit was paid back to the tenant through the sale proceeds (not through my instructions). I have sent proof to DPS in the form of my solicitor's messages but they still want more documentation. Just pay me my money back, then I may reconsider my review.
(Standard reply received.... I have given all requested information already, I'm not doing it again)

A company that defies the court system - ineffective and inefficient.

The company awarded my former landlord my deposit after taking the maximum amount of time. The landlord’s claim was rejected by a court months earlier and it is extraordinary this company responded to the pressure from the landlord rather than rely on the evidence and the decision of a county judge. This case was dragged out for months, and the decision reached is indefensible. There is no appeal process hence my honest review. A terrible experience.

Hi, we’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with our Dispute Resolution Service. Adjudicators are independent and make their decisions based on the evidence received from all parties. They must be persuaded “on a balance of probabilities” that a tenant has breached the terms of their tenancy, and that the landlord or letting agent has suffered, or is likely to suffer, a loss as a result. They also must take into account other factors such as fair wear and tear, remedy type and residual value.
If you believe the adjudicator has made a factual or legal mistake with the decision they’ve reached, please raise a complaint within 3 months of the date the decision was issued using one of the following options.
- Call us on 0330 303 0030
- Email us at contactus@depositprotection.com
- Send us a direct message on X at https://X.com/the_dps, or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/DepositProtectionService/

Just give a blank cheque to your outgoing tenants!

I would be giving minus stars if I could!
This organisation is a total waste of time and money, completely amateurish with absolutely ZERO common sense!
Tenants moved out of our house for us to find they had painted our pine kitchen units grey, our dark oak fireplace was now beige, bathrooms also painted grey, and so on….nothing short of vandalism. The bill to fix all this runs into £000s! We thought we could at least withhold the deposit to pay for some of it….right?
Wrong!! Because the start of tenancy photos showing everything in its original pristine condition, they were “invalid” (yes, you probably need to read that again…), because they were taken prior to the DPS taking over the deposit.
So, if the tenants had trashed the place before the DPS took over the deposit, is that OK??
Common sense is clearly not common.

We had a similar disappointing issue regarding mismanagement by a prior letting agent – this time with the Property Ombudsman. Total waste of time! Another toothless, clueless organisation, acting like a bunch of dozing civil servants. Disgraceful!

As a landlord I see the odds are being stacked against me by governments and organisations like DPS. I’m out of this game. I will NEVER again rent out my property – it can stay empty until I decide to move back in one day – after I have fixed all of the damage.
Between this bunch of amateurs with zero common sense, and ‘do-gooder’ governments living in cuckoo land, the rental market will disappear faster than a polar ice cap!
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
