  2. Video editing service

Written by the company

Descript is an AI-powered video and audio editing platform that combines transcription, screen recording, and publishing into a single tool. Instead of using multiple apps for editing, captioning, and sharing, users can manage the entire workflow in one place. At its foundation, Descript allows text-based editing. Media files are automatically transcribed, and changes to the text directly edit the video or audio timeline. This makes editing more accessible for beginners while still providing advanced capabilities for professionals. Core Features Text-based editing: Edit media by editing words on a transcript instead of navigating timelines. Screen and webcam recording: Capture product demos, tutorials, and presentations in one place. AI enhancements: Tools like Eye Contact, Studio Sound, filler word removal, and automatic captions. Avatars & voice tools: Create lifelike avatars, translate content, or generate synthetic voices. Collaboration tools: Multi-track editing and real-time team collaboration for distributed teams.

First attempt at using Descript

So this was my first attempt at using Descript. I had made a short video while on holiday but the audio on the recording had a lot of wind noise which completely spoilt the video. I read on Google that Descript could remove the wind noise so I tried it out, only to find that it did not remove the noise but made the audio worse. As this was my first attempt at doing this sort of thing maybe I did not do it right so will have to try again

Thank you for not overcharging me in…

Thank you for not overcharging me in order to upgrade. I realize, while editing, that I needed a feature that I did not initially pick. I was hesitant about it because my rent is due. Descript will not play with your money, it's worth it, and they PROVIDE! Thanks, Descript!!!

Exceptional service

I enjoy the information provided via the email updates and the actual follow up on feedback. The service is exceptionally prompt and easy to use - even for a luddite like me!
The videos are very simple to follow. Basically it does what it says - gives anyone and everyone the ability to make videos, audio and utilise fantastic AI features.

This USED to be such a great tool, but no more

This USED to be such a great tool -- honestly it was one of my favourites. When I first discovered it 18 months ago I used it all the time. It did everything I wanted and it saved me hours. But they slowly destroyed it, one unnecessary update at a time, to the point where it is basically unusable now. It crashes, recordings stop (without notification leaving you wondering where your work went), recorded audio stutters or is garbled, and the editor is now painful to use because it is so laggy and it creates A/V sync issues. This downfall of Descript has been really sad to watch. Descript used to be the best tool out there but now I won't touch it.

Editing is SOOO much easier than in the past

I learned to edit using camtasia about 2 decades ago. Descript has made editing so much easier than the hours I used to spend listening and making minute cuts using just the soundwave. Adding images into the videos and making social media short clips is so much easier!
Hey descript, just an idea, when your AI creates a clip, it would help if I were able to regenerate more of the timeline to adjust the start and stop of the clip I want to use.
