Daniel has just completed my plans for a single storey extension. From the moment I made the initial enquiry through to finalising the plans he has maintained excellent communication and completed in no time at all.

From enquires all the way through to the finalised plans I feel as though design and cost construction went that extra mile. The knowledge and experience really shone trough as they managed to put into reality the extension I had envisaged. As for the the plans I recieved as the finished article these far exceeded my expectations, value for money second to none. If nothing else I would definitely recommend to enquire about the services provided.

My partner and I were looking for someone to draw up plans for a sizeable two storey extension.

I searched far and wide only to find bog-standard architects whose charges were very much in the thousands. This may be warranted for complex projects but in our case seemed to be unnecessary. I also looked online for freelance CAD designers but this was a minefield. Another avenue that I tried was to look for an “architect technician” but these seemed to be very elusive.

After some days of barking up the wrong trees, I was delighted to have discovered Design and Cost Construction. Dan responded to my enquiry almost as soon as it was sent - something that I have found to be very unusual in this business!

He understood the ethos of the project right from the start and helped turn our sketches into fantastically detailed and more importantly, useable, technical drawings.

I have since shown them to tradespeople whose eyes have immediately lit up. It’s made getting quotes very easy.

Dan was very patient with us as our design ideas changed. He also quickly told us when some of them were not feasible and came up with excellent alternatives, in-keeping with our concept and budget.

If you are considering using Design and Cost Construction I urge you to read the blogs on the website. You’ll learn that Dan has over a decade of “on the tools” experience. Having been a builder in the past he really knows his stuff and it shows in his designs. Not only this, he’s since forged a career “off the tools” designing and costing in professional capacity for almost as long.

This was certainly apparent when I had my pre-planning meeting. The council commented that the design is exactly the kind of thing they expect to be approved.

We have also made use the available costing service. This is a document bespoke to our project. It was delivered in under a week and has turned out to be much more detailed than I anticipated. Although the build hasn’t yet started, the figures seem to be realistic based on our own research and quotes we have received. Perfect for us, as people who are planning to manage the build, of course rather than to employ an architect or even a building firm. I’m sure that this document will prove to be well worth the modest investment when things take shape in the coming months.

You may be told to avoid remote design services such as Design and Cost Construction but I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

Truly, a fantastic outfit.
