Diamond Relocations Toronto and Friendly Moving Victoria BC
When I spoke with Mark Russo of Diamond Movers to arrange my belongings to be shipped from Toronto to Victoria on March 30, I asked if it would be possible to have my belongings delivered to my new address on April 18. The reply I received was that there was plenty of time so there should be no problems.
The quote was originally in the $1300.00 and it turned out I was charged an extra $3,000 for excess weight.
When I arrived on the 17th of March, I called Mark and was given the number for Friendly Movers, their sister company in Vancouver. I was told it was not possible as the dispatcher was in the process of scheduling the transportation of orders. The person was rude and dismissive. I asked to be transferred to someone who was in charge of the scheduling but I was refused. I was told, 'you are not the only one moving and the person who told you your belongings could be delivered on April 18 should not have said this to you.'
When I told them the customer service was terrible, the responsewas, 'I not offering any customer service, I am doing my job and I do it well'??!!
I waited one week before my belongings were delivered. It was one week of basically having just my luggage in an empty place. Very frustrating after being told my belongings would arrive on April 18. I planned my itinerary around that date.
When the movers arrived, I was told I had to pay an extra $400 on the spot because the walk from the truck to the building was more than 75 feet. Nowhere in the contract does it mention of this surcharge. I was pressured into making the payment because I could sense the two men would leave with my belongings.
As the movers were bringing in my belongings I noticed they were completely ignoring the very bold colored labels on the boxes. THIS SIDE UP, LIQUIDS etc. DO NOT STACK. When I mentioned this to one of the movers they said they would watch for the labels. This didn't happen. Boxes were still being carried upside down. This resulted in spillage.
At the end, the lead crew person told me they were finished and asked me to sign the order. I told him they had to assemble the bed. They refused, saying it was not on the order. I paid to have my bed assembled so I refused to sign the order because the job was incomplete. At the end of very stressful day, I had to struggle to assemble the bed by myself.
Because my belongings sat in a dirty warehouse for a week, every box and item wrapped in plastic was covered in dirt. The sofa and both armchairs had dirt and dust due to improper wrapping.
Then I found one of the armchairs was damaged in 2 different places.
I have moved continents 3 few times and this was THE ONE AND ONLY TIME that I've had a horrible experience with movers.
The service I was given was totally substandard. The people I dealt with were rude, unhelpful and uncaring.
Their website states:
'Feel confident that the price you see is the price you’ll pay, no surprises. Our pricing is straightforward. No tricks. Nothing to worry about'. Everything in their statement is the opposite of what they actually do.
This move was a completely bad experience. It caused a great deal of stress. I feel disappointed, dissatisfied and taken advantage of.
I emailed Diamond and Friendly moving to request reimbursement for the assembly charge, the $400 I was forced to pay and compensation to have the armchair repaired. I have hear nothing from either of them. Avoid these 2 companies at all costs. They are scammers. They are arrogant and they don't give a damn about anything except ripping people off. Mark Russo will say anything to take your money. I wish both companies bankruptcy. Total con men
