Special thanks to Niki, Keith and Pamela, who have dealt with our breakdowns, ordering of parts and rapid thorough repairs to keep our motorhome on the road in fantastic mechanical order and everything working well.

Motorhome complaints

Motorhome complaints

I purchased a used motorhome from Dickson’s Motorhomes, Perth for £51,000 on 19th of July 2025.
Make and model Chausson Welcome mileage spprox 25,000

Since purchasing, I have been plagued with faults / some of which were highlighted on delivery and some have developed since. On each occasion, Dickson’s Aftersales have either grudgingly fixed the issue using cheapest method possible, or issue still outstanding , or disputed the repair. On the first visit to the workshop, there were around 4 things to be fixed:

1. Missing end trim around skylight above driving cab.
2. Scratch on drivers side panelling adjacent to drivers door.
3. Water damage on cabinet door below cooker (highlighted prior to purchase) - has been replaced by a door which does not match
4. Cooker front hob and grill won’t stay lit.

We are still awaiting the new cabinet door which allegedly was ordered in July and scratches to be repaired.

Second visit to Aftersales garage to repair:

1.  9th August - Clutch Slave Cylinder broke down when I was on the isle of Mull and had to be recovered to base in Gartmore by my insurance company. Dicksons assured me this would be covered by Autoguard Warranty/ it was not. Dicksons promised they would fix under my years’ warranty with them - took 3 weeks before they could fit it into their garage schedule (15th September) - then blamed misuse of clutch, refused to let me take my vehicle until I paid them £637. 79. I felt pressured into paying this.
2.  Lock into main cabin won’t close and then lock.
3.  Front cabin skylight won’t close afteropening.
5.  Main cabin fly screen not working.
7. Still awaiting cabinet door replacement below cooker.
8.  Main cabin door broken due to inferior quality (evidenced by the fact that Chausson parts are now supplying a solid handle)
10.  When van recovered from site at Aberfoyle after being told it would be picked up 8.30am - did not arrive. Dicksons had to book another recovery vehicle which did not arrive until 2pm.
11. waste pipe severed by Dickson’s designated recovery vehicle. Note, Dickson’s repaired this.

19th September and 2000 miles later, the ‘new’ clutch fails again leaving me stranded again. My insurance immediately say it is a repeat issue and that they want to see invoice of original repair. On examination this invoice shows that Dickson’s only replaced the clutch slave cylinder and not the flywheel, which would’ve been standard practice. When I contacted Dicksons, there was no apology that we’d broken down again - instead asked if the handbrake had been left on (no, it was not! / again trying to blame me for their shoddy workmanship).
I research some trusted garages and find that a full new clutch including slave cylinder and flywheel can be bought and fitted for £840 - no garage I spoke to said that they would never fit a slave cylinder without replacing the flywheel (cost of flywheel circa £200).

I have decided to get a trusted garage to repair this time as I have lost trust and confidence in Dickson’s.

Dickson’s say they are not liable for any costs and that, basically they are blaming my bad driving for the clutch fault. Note / I have been driving for 50 years and never has any of my cars had a clutch failure.

I would never use this garage again. Their service is non existent and their attire to customers appalling.

Great service and helpful folk

We have just bought our third vehicle from Dicksons. Their sales and after sales have been straightforward, reasonable and easy to deal with. Can recommend.

One of the best Scottish motorhome dealers

Picked up our brand new Roller Team Kronos 590 from Chris this morning, which is the third motorhome that we have purchased from Dicksons. We have shopped around a number of dealers across the UK, but Christopher has always beaten the competition and given us a good deal. If you're looking for a wide range of good quality motorhomes/campervans and someone who won't rip you off with "extras", then give Chris a call.

Another waste of time

Currrent owner of a motorhome, looking to upgrade. Walked in to a "showroom" that looks like a back room in a plumbers merchants to be ignored by two elderly men who probably would have like to be been anywhere else but there. I literally had to go onto their website on my phone to show the models of their stock- waited at length for keys to be found (and the vans) they couldn't be bothered to find a couple of them and was just given a shrug of the shoulders that they couldn't help. Not one question was asked about us or our van - I honestly have no clue how they are going to sell their stock - but what I do know is wild horses wouldn't let me part with my money to them - unhelpful, uninterested and unprofessional

Hi Linda, I am sorry to hear your service was not what you had expected. If you could kindly contact either via email- chris@dicksonsofperth.co.uk or via telephone- 01738626287 so I can get a few more details about your visit, so I am able to speak to the relevant persons regarding your visit and their customer service. With our showroom, unfortunately we do not have a multi million pound showroom however it will have been very bare due to most of our indoor display paraphernalia being at a show we were displaying at.
Look forward to hearing from you
Chris

We bought a new Motorhome & then…

We bought a new Motorhome & then experienced a few problems with the ‘drop down’ bed after a few weeks.
The service department were superb & after a couple of visits the fault was discovered & repaired very quickly.
It took a couple of visits as it was a very unusual problem with the switch.
All staff were excellent & a special ‘shout out’ to Keith & Niki & the engineer whose name I have forgotten…apologies.
As a lovely gesture they filled up our fuel tank (£85) for free.

Our New Itineo Motorhome

We recently bought a new Itineo from Niki. The team were all great to deal with and very helpful. When we picked up our motorhome we got video's sent to us to show us how to work everything as well which was a great help as it was a lot to take in when new to this will definitely use again for servicing and habitation.

Thanks Mark & Aaron

MAINTAINANCE DEPARTMENT,DICKSONS OF PERTH MOTORHOMES
I previously had a poor service when buying a new motor home.We were heading south when we discovered a fault. We went to Dicksons .To be told “have you tried the service department?”
To be told it was about a mile away.
The person who came to our assistance was polite ,very helpful ,sorting the problem quite quickly .He told us the cause and what to do should the problem ever recur .

Awful after sales service

Awful after sales service! Happy to sell you a new Motorhome but not happy to fix anything even under warranty. Issues raised under warranty and all logged on their system. Would never buy from them again
