Dodgy sales tactics and false advertising! AVOID!

I was interested in buying an iPad. I thought about getting one at the terminal as it would be duty free (i was travelling outside the EU). I had an idea how much they are when I first went in. I was confused as it was more MORE EXPENSIVE than what i thought. The sales person tried to convince me it was cheaper than all other stores as they price match plus i was getting duty free. He started to really pressure me by saying they only had one left in stock. I said I would come back taking the time to check the prices online.

As I left the store and noticed a huge sign saying they price match Amazon. I checked the price on amazon and yes, it was MUCH CHEAPER. So, i returned with my phone showing the item on Amazon. The sales assistant said that it does not count because its online, i directed him to the sign which clearly said they price match amazon and then he changed his story to say that they don't price match "third party" sellers on Amazon. It was not a third party seller, it was Amazon and he had no way of knowing that it was a third party from one glance at my phone screen.

I couldn't be bothered anymore with this jokester of a sales person so left. Never returning to a Dixons, Carphone, Currys or PC World.

Untrustworthy customer service.....A company to avoid at all cost!

Horrific company with appalling customer service department that attempt to brainwash consumers with their lies, attempting to force them into submission. Be extremely careful of this company should any product you purchase through them be faulty. I purchased an expensive Apple MacBook Pro, but unbeknown to me it was one of a series of faulty machines that Apple recognised as having a manufacturing fault. It has had the keyboard fail three times, was recalled by Apple for potential hardware failure and yet this company claims that I am not in my right to expect this product to be working normally and they refused to give me a refund as apparently “I am not entitled to one”.

This company does not respect Section 75 of the Consumer Rights Act and tries to wear down its customers in an attempt to avoid any liability for selling faulty products. This matter cost me a massive amount of inconvenience, with numerous trips to Apple’s Genius Bar (in three countries) being required to attempt to repair a failed machine, endless stress with the matter and futile attempts to get the company to accept their responsibility in the matter. Their email correspondence was full of lies, incompetent “interpretation” and rubbish. There is no other way to describe it. They wanted me to pay them to have the machine examined by them when the manufacturer had already identified the problem, twice attempted to fix it and advised not to repair the machine again, but to replace it. Indeed had I bought the machine directly at Apple they told me that they would have given me a brand new one to replace the faulty machine! Dixons can’t identify such a problem and no consumer should pay them even a penny should they be in a similar situation to me, as they are liable, incompetent and cannot resolve a problem that even the manufacturer cannot. One needs to respect the advice of the manufacturer (Apple) who are the only ones able to repair their products with competence. When two failed attempts at repair do not solve the manufacturing problem, it is time to get a new machine, as Apple sensibly suggested. Dixons said they would contact me by telephone to discuss collection of my machine at my cost within 30 days. They are responsible for a machine that does not work and I should not have to pay for anything!

I was refunded the amount in full by my credit card company after a lot of time consuming correspondence with Dixons had failed to resolve the matter. I shall never buy another product ever again from such a scandalous company whose customer services department is run by a person whose English is appalling and who does not even respect their customer. The person dealing with my case was from “Team Knowhow”. Sadly they do not appear to know anything about legality and their tactics are dangerous. Avoid this company at all cost!! If they do not respect the law they should not be trading. It is really quite simple!!!

Staff couldn't give a toss......

Wanted to buy a Kindle today. Asked the difference between Kindle and Kindle Paperwhite. Sales guy said they have different size screens. (they don't). Asked if I could see the text on both e-readers. he said no, they are stuck on screen saver pages and shrugged.
He didn't care.
I walked out.

Terrible

Ridiculous. I bought faulty headphones and have had the most enormous headache trying to get them to do something about it. LOTS of pointless emails led me to sending them back and I haven't heard a thing - so now more pointless emails in the follow up. Such poor customer service.

I bought an iPad Pro and Clinton in T5…

I bought an iPad Pro and Clinton in T5 store said it was the latest model which at £659 was good.

Whilst comparing prices in Geneva, I found out it was 2018 model which only had 64gb, whereas the 2020 model has 128gb and a 3rd camera.... and £699 at Media Mark.

I rang Dixons at T5 and they said oh it was the latest model they stocked and then agreed it was incorrect to say it was the latest model.

Their returns policy is not clearly printed on the receipt. He told me I had 21 days to return to any currys PC Word store and 50 days to post it back to them, but no mention of paying the return postage for selling me a product they told me was the latest model.

I’ve still not had a response to the email I sent them, but also have a record of the phone call to them. So on the whole it’s pretty poor service.

I will now complain to Heathrow as it is supposed to be a 60 day Return service if you change your mind and to trading standards as Dixons Travel should not be misleading on both the product and the returns policy.

Previously I bought my Apple Mac from them, but I think in future I will buy my products in Switzerland from Media Mark - where it’s cheaper and you can get a tax refund.

Don't buy from Dixons Travel

Don't buy from Dixons Travel. I bought headphones that I wanted to return unused in original package a few minutes later.

The clerk at one of their Heathrow terminal shops took them out of the package and rubbed the in-ear pieces in his hands, with which he is also handling money. He then said that I need to understand that they cannot accept ear phones back for hygienic purposes. I was completely baffled. Th company basically stole my money and left me with earphones that are now unusable, because I certainly don't want to stick them in my ears after their staff smears them in their hands.

I complained to Dixons Travel via email to no avail. They basically don't read anything I write but just say that their returns policy is clear, that they don't take back used items. The item was a) not used and b) made unusable by their own staff.

Don't buy from Dixons Travel.

Dixons have terrible customer service.....

Dixons is I think the worst company service I have ever dealt with. I bought an iphone 11 at Luton airport. I took off the cellophane wrapper before I realised that they had sold me the wrong one with too small a memory - they now refuse to take it back, or exchange it.

I cant believe how rubbish this is - to top it all the shop I tried to take it back to was incredibly rude to me, telling me that if it was really my fault and that I should check if I was spending this much money, I must be "stupid".

They told to me to call some complaints number that kept me on hold for 30 minutes and were thoroughly unhelpful.

Awful company my partner purchased a…

Awful company my partner purchased a belkin screen protector last year which had unlinited life time guarantee...he had been told he could get it replaced at any curry’s store go to our local store to be told they don’t have the belkin machine to replace the screen protector..they did the decent thing and gave him a normal protector rather than going without...go back to Dixon’s travel in Bristol airport this week which he originally purchased it from they tried to find many excuses to not replace it, and then to be told it’s not a life time guarantee you get the first one fitted but if it lifts or cracks they class it as ‘it’s done it’s job’...awful customer service and feel completely lied too will never she again!

Rubbish Customer Service

Just bought 2 x iPhone 11’s and some AirPod Pros at Gatwick South Terminal. Spent over £2500 in total and I had better customer service when spending £2.50 on my coffee!!

Went to Dixons upstairs first and guy said they only 1 of the phones I wanted in stock. I asked about the other store downstairs and he said they wouldn’t have them...(without bothering to check) so I bought 1. Then went downstairs and asked and they had 7 of the one I wanted!!

I then said to the girl serving, I’m in a little bit a of rush but she didn’t change her speed or attitude and was more interested in having a laugh with her colleagues. She charged it all through till, then when I checked receipt I noticed she’d given me the wrong one....so when I said to her this, she then said I’ve only given you what you asked for and it was my fault!! As opposed to apologising...

Then went even slower to find the right item and arrange a refund for the overcharge!!! Lastly refused to give me the original receipt when I asked for it for my records until a colleague said to her that she had to....

Have walked away irritated enough to write a review which I never do...December and companies need all the sales they can get but with staff like that no wonder online is winning.

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE / BEWARE!!

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE / BEWARE!!

Purchased Goji earphones (a brand part-owned by Dixons) from Dixons Travel Gatwick airport. Sadly, turned out to be faulty (loose connection) when I opened them up on the plane.

After holiday, politely emailed customer services expecting quick resolution (see Dixons fake promise about 'Easy Return' below!). Instead, was faced with aggressive, rude customer service reps.

EVENTUALLY... After an email chain where customer service pumped out copy-and-paste replies designed to 'dead end' customers into giving up, was told to 'return item to Gatwick airport' and they MAY "consider" (!) a replacement.

WOW, so generous of you!

What, so you want me to fly back to Gatwick airport just to return some headphones?! Er, no.

Clearly unfair – and NOT what they say on their website (See fake Our Promise section entitled "Easy Returns"!).

Offered to post them, was told 'No, because we can't verify your purchase because we don't have access to retail computer system – online online'. Told them I already verified the purchase in the very first (polite) email I sent! The rep - an aggressive, rude woman called Katum – simply ignored what I was saying.

IN THE END... I asked for the name and address of the correct DSG entity so that I could take them to the small claims court in the UK (CCBC). Katum told me, "We are all the way in South Africa, there is no address we can give you." I said that was totally unfair and clearly not the way Dixons would want to treat customers with a complaint.

After five further minutes on hold, I was again told "We cannot give you any address".

ESSENTIALLY... the point of Dixons customer service is to frustrate customers with excuses such as 'no access to systems' and 'We are all the way in South Africa, so you need to fly back to Gatwick Airport to return a pair of headphones'. To expect people who buy from Dixons Travel Gatwick to return there in the event of a fault is clearly ludicrous and unfair!

Dixons Travel, I look forward to seeing you in the small claims court.

THIS IS THE GARBAGE DIXONS TRAVEL PUBLISH ON THEIR WEBSITE:
"If your product develops a fault during the remaining guarantee period we’ll provide a prompt and professional resolution." – Sorry, but you need to REMOVE THAT CLAIM unless you're willing to at least try and live up to it!

Beware of the the rip off

I fell into the temptation of purchasing a Google Pixel 3a XL at Dixons Travel Heathrow T4 while on my way back to UAE (where I reside). I asked for the VAT refund form and the salesman said they don't offer one but the price is the lowest. That was my last chance as Google do not have official store in the UAE so I proceeded with the purchase. The salesman took my boarding pass as he wanted to make sure I flew to a non-EU country. I thought that he was not charging me VAT as I was not going to EU. I purchased the phone and came back to the UAE.

But in the back of my mind I had a feeling that something was fishy as the street price was only GBP 20 more than I paid Dixons. Some search on the net showed that the prices advertised by others are with VAT and I could have saved about GBP 70 had I purchased the same phone in London City and claimed the VAT. On checking Dixons website it said "Dixons Travel operates the governments Airport Retailers’ VAT relief concession under which VAT is not charged on sales when travelling to a non-EU destination. We use the benefit of this government concession to support our ability to offer reduced prices for all passengers regardless of their destination. Passengers need to present boarding passes for all of their purchases."

On chasing the Customer Service I got an entirely different answer

"Thank you for your email dated 16th August 2019. Please accept my apologies for the delay in our response.

When you are making the purchase, we scan your boarding pass to record your destination. As a company, when customers make purchases and are travelling outside of the EU, we claim the VAT back on these purchases and then use the savings to lower our prices on every product in our store so every customer can benefit from lower prices regardless of where they are travelling.

You do then pay VAT on the purchase you make in the store, but you pay VAT on a lower price than the item normally would be. If the price is higher than other selected retailers, you can then use our lowest price guarantee service to ensure you are paying the lowest price possible. You can find full information relating to this guarantee by following the link below: "

That means Dixon charge you VAT irrespective of your destination, use your boarding pass to reclaim your money paid as VAT and use it to finance their discounts instead of depositing with the government and non EU fliers stand to lose a good amount of money depending on the value of the item purchased. All you get is something like a paltry 4% off on the street price.

SHOULDN'T THIS BE CALLED A RIP-OFF?

Be aware of the terrible after sales…

Be aware of the terrible after sales service from Dixons Travel at UK airports. Based on salesman's advice I bought an Apple Watch. It did not do what I wanted and so arranged to have it returned to UK and replaced with a FITBIT Ionic. They confirmed its return and informed me the replacement watch was couriered. The FITBIT ionic never arrived and after tracking I found that Dixons had requested its return from the courier within 14 hours of its pick up! After contacting every conceivable number I could find at Dixons/Currys I was told today that unless the watch was returned by their courier - they posted it through their own courier (DPD) - then they would not refund the payment! I have lost count of the hours and phone calls, always resulting in exasperation and disbelief - be VERY VERY careful about buying Dixons Travel if you might need after sales service or a refund.

Absolute scammers

Absolute scammers, no surprise to find out they are part of the Currys PC World group of Robbers! Like other reviews here, if you are not happy with the product there is no recourse. The crap wireless bluetooth headphones I bought for 80 Euro wouldn't connect to my devices propoerly and the sound quality was crap. The absolute muppet who answered the phone thought he was an expert on cunsumer law and offered me no real courses of action. Basically washing their hands of it. Shocking customer service, avoid purchasing from these scam artists at all costs.

PRICE MATCH MISLEADING TAX FREE SHOPPING NOT ALWAYS CHEAPER

We went to Birmingham airport in December 2018 and went to the Dixsons travel store to purchase a pair of wireless earphones which was in store at £29.99 I told the salesman I have seen them cheaper as they advertise all over the store the will match or double the difference of the high street prices including Amazon. The salesman confirmed the price was cheaper at Currys PC World which was £19.99 but he could not match currys PC World as it was a part of Dixsons group. So don't believe its cheaper tax free shopping at Dixsons travel stores and they don't even honour there price match.
So that was a sale the salesman lost that day.
