Very poor insurance. You pay a lot of money but when you actually need them they refuse to pay. So why have them as an insurance in the first place… never DKV for me again!

Major breach of trust
Major breach of trust - when i applied for my policy in the DKV office with the member of the sales team, I handed her a paper copy of my application. She then assisted me with submitting an electronic application but with my medical history she told me as all the issues were “resolved” I didn’t need to declare them. I trusted her as a member of DKV sales who does this job every day. The consequence of this is now that my authorisation requests are declined because I didn’t declare my history. I have made a formal complaint to DKV who will not respond to this major breach of trust and lack of professionalism.
Update: response from DKV suggesting I submit a complaint - I’ve already done this and DKV have said they thoroughly investigated and the sales person (“he” although it was a she) has said they didn’t tell me to put this on the form. I’ve had no indication how this affects my policy or the consequences. It seems there is no accountability or responsibility.

I have never dealt with such an unorganised, bureaucratic, unhelpful company in my entire life.... Continually ask for extra information and medical reports for minor medical authorisations. You supply/upload these then they respond with something else that is required!!!! I paid an extortionate amount for annual coverage and the service provided is shocking! A simple point they should take on board.... If you are asking for authorisation for a procedure after visiting your professionally qualified GP and provided a prescription & medical assessment report, obviously you need treatment!!!!!! AVOID.

Attempted fraud
I had several conversations with DKV about their health insurance plan. After reading negative comments online about this company, I decided to insure with another company. Please note that I didn’t sign a contract with this company or give them authorisation to debit money from my bank account. Despite this, DKV attempted to take €1400 from my bank account. Due to the large number of complaints, I would strongly advise that you find a trustworthy company in Spain for your medical insurance needs.

El servicio de atención al cliente es…LAMENTABLE e INUTIL
El servicio de atención al cliente (900 814 393) es muy deficiente, cumplen las normas básicas de educación pero NO informan correctamente sobre DKV. Valdría la pena que formasen adecuadamente a sus empleadas/os y les hicieran superar pruebas sencillas de Sentido Común. Hay muchas mas aseguradoras de salud con gente más preparada.
The customer service is very poor, they follow the basic standards of education but do NOT inform correctly about DKV. It would be worth it if they trained their employees correctly and made them pass simple Common Sense tests.

I had scheduled a tonsils surgery for my 3 year old son that is ill all the time because of them, has also apnea, can't rest at night etc. They didn't have me the authorization in time. For some days they requested some documents from the doctor which I gave them. The day of surgery they simply didn't answer, he was fasting for 8 hours, was crying after food and water and they just didn't approve the surgery. They asked for a document I already sent then ... Now I am waiting for the authorization. After this I must book a new appointment with the doctor which is possible after more then 2 weeks and after that more then 1 month to schedule a new surgery date.....

Don't bother. Only ok if you never need treatment
From my experience it seems this company is run like a scam. When you need treatment or another exam beyond a common cold, you need an authorization. And my experience is that they initially decline service, after a long wait period. And this is even in possibly life-threatening cases where anybody with any medical knowledge knows that investigation and treatment is urgently required, like blood in the stool. To request a review, you need to gather more documents from the doctors and hospitals, and of course they don't respond timely to outrageous requests, and it's the same issue, you can't just call up the doctor and discuss it with them. Same with the DKV review, short crypic responses, after 3 days to 2 weeks of review. This delay tactic of course saves money as it delays and minimizes all treatments and requires fewer people in the service centers. They people making decisions are well guarded with no phone or other direct contact. Their business practices should be illegal. Don't get insured here, as you might die before getting the treatment you need.

worst company I have dealt with in 58 years !!! You ask for me to reply in private so you can hide what you are doing to all the customers. look at the reviews we all have the same complaints. I canceled my policy by whatsapp and also telephone in November 23 and DKV are telling me to pay until January 25 !! DKV tell me the did not receive my cancellation until January 24 this is lies !!! nothing more than a scam ! i have made hours of phone calls and emails all they keep doing is telling me to pay !! POLICY NUMBER 1330014404283000001 DKV let’s make this public about my complaint. and many other customers are complaining the same

AVOID DKV Seguros
I tried to cancel my policy in August 2023. They informed me that I had to stay on until 01/01/2024. Since then they have been charging my account (and increased their fees from 44 euros to £49.50). Every time my bank cancels the direct debit, they charge me another £49.50. I am a student who did a year abroad there, and they are extremely unhelpful. They require you to provide a tedious list of things as to why you are cancelling. They are borderline scam artists. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Fraudulently withdrew almost 900€ from my account
The bad outweighs the good. STOLE MY MONEY. LITERALLY.
Good: It was easy to access healthcare when we needed it, which was rarely.
Bad: several months into the new year, they sucked an extra (almost) 900 euros out of my bank account for no reason (and nearly over drafted my account!) . It wasn't a regular payment because my payment had already been paid in January. It was a mystery. I fought and fought with them for 9 months! In the end, they told me that the insurance agent had stolen the money, quite and and left town! And to add insult to injury, DKV wouldn't refund the stolen money! THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO SUE THE AGENT. I was like: You've got to be kidding me! I fought and fought them for two more months telling them that DKV needed to refund the money and THEY should be the ones taking their agent to court! It was a nightmare! NEVER AGAIN!

Everything was fine with DKV, I started to have some issues and went to see a Dr. After numerous tests all paid for by DKV, the Dr found that I have cancer, he ordered a biopsy.
This is when things changed with DKV and they started ignoring me and my requests for more tests to find a suitable treatment and even when as far as to say the condition is pre existing...disgusting DKV.
I lost valuable time with DKV and waiting for responses and the cancer spread, they still have not responded and I have paid for everything myself.
I smell a lawsuit coming
DKV this is for your response on Dec 29th.
While I appreciate the response it doesn’t address the obvious problem.
Through the testing process the doctors discovered that I have prostate cancer.
The delaying process that DKV implements when someone is diagnosed with aggressive cancer is inhumane.
Your answer that it can take up to 6 months to approve further tests is dangerous since, as we all know, how quickly cancer moves through the body. My biopsy score was the highest at a 10 Gleason score.
Let me also remind you all that we had to pay for this because your approval process is now at the 6 month mark and not only was it not approved, but it is still under review. No response from DKV.
I then paid for another test ordered by the Dr, the PETCT which is also still under review.
Yes. We emailed all of your review departments. We even went to your offices.
Nothing came back.
Basically DKV has completely ignored my requests or wrongfully declared them as pre-existing.
Even the Dr has tried to communicate with your offices to speed up the process. To no avail.
If your system is as you write. It is broken.
However we know that is a lie as nobody has ever responded to our requests at the higher levels.
Either way, DKV is not a reliable option for private insurance when someone really needs them to be.
The only recourse is possibly legal action.
But first I have to deal with the cancer in my body before addressing the cancer that is DKV.

No attention to detail by virtual doctors
My review is more about the health professionals acting on behalf of DKV. I used a chat app hoping to get a prescription and was unplesently surprised by lack of detail the doctors are displaying. I have been sick for just over 7 weeks and unfortunately my symptoms recently got much worse. I am a strep throat sufferer and my throat hurts most of the year, however when the pain starts going into my ears and I get shaky this is when I know I must see a doctor to get antibitotics. I dont like them, they only help temporarily and I suffer from even poorer immunity for months afterwards, however without them i am aware I would and up in the hospital, which you cannot afford when you are a mum of 2 kids. Incapable of driving to see a doctor I though an app chat would help. Joanna asked me for my symptoms and then for a picture of my throat. Her verdict was: keep taking painkillers. No further information from me was neither requested nor accepted, I was not enquired about my previous health history. As a strep throat sufferer I am well aware that throat affected by a viral infection can look very similar to a throat when it is affected by a bacterial infection and it is very poor practice to base the diagnose on an image only. She could see from the history of my DKV insurance that I do not go asking for antibiotics, in fact this was my first ´doctor´visit´ since contracting the insurance 12 months ago. Sometimes you have to use common sense and ask yourself if you should hear some more from the patient. Very poor indeed.

Sloppy Customer service
3 hours trying to get some documentation in English via phone (5 times) on their whatsapp chat, unfortunately I was put through to a "Jobs Worth" (un)assistant, this company advertises itself as a multilingual business, but that is far from the truth. When dealing with medical language it is imperative to have correct medical translation, google translate just cannot do it. This is a company that is indicative of todays attitude toward customer service (sloppy at best).All the links on their english website are dead links and lead knowhere or are broken, This could make me think that they are trying to obfuscate their pricing stratergy toward foreigners.
Not happy and I will not be renewing my plan for my whole family this year with them.
Please be aware and ask for ALL documentation in ENGLISH before parting with your money

If you are unfortunate enough to have an illness with DKV, they will fight trying everything to avoid paying. Once they accept the claim is genuine, upon renewal they treat you like a third class citizen, hike premiums and disallow changing of policy level, even for family members who have not claimed on the policy. Avoid DKV!
UPDATE: regarding the response given below, My review is just to give a heads up and a warning to others that if you unfortunate enough to have to make a claim, as was my case due to a tumor which thankfully has been sucessfully operated, once a claim is made, from that moment on you are treated as a leper by DKV. I have no interest in putting an official complaint as you suggest, the agent I have dealt with has been in my opinion excellent, has tried everything on my behalf to improve the situation, but has been blocked at every turn as they admitted to me that I am "Red Flagged" in the DKV system due to my claim, so there is nothing they can do to help further. Whilst I somewhat understand my Red Flag status, why they also treat my Wife and two children the same when they have had no claim is unacceptable.
