Avoid Dollarstore in Sjöbo: Shocking and hostile customer service!
I used to visit this Dollarstore location in Sjöbo occasionally for small items, but after my experience here, I will never set foot in this store again.
On 30 June 2026, I bought a package of Super Energy+ D batteries for 60 kr. When I got home, I realised they were the wrong size. Because I was flying out of the country early the next morning, I could not return them immediately, but I brought them back a few days later with the receipt, fully intending to simply exchange them for the correct size.
The entire interaction was a masterclass in awful customer service:
• Hostile staff: Upon entering the shop, I located an employee to explain the situation. Instead of being helped, I was immediately scolded for entering the store with a return, being told I should have gone straight to the upfront till. How on earth is a regular customer supposed to know this bizarre, unposted routine?
• Lazy and dismissive attitude: I was marched to the till to deal with a young, pouting cashier who looked like she would rather be anywhere else on earth. Without even properly looking at the items, she flatly refused the return because the cardboard packaging was slightly open.
• Ridiculous logic: The first employee then chimed in, claiming I "could have used them." This makes absolutely no sense: if they had been the correct size to be used in my devices, I would not be standing there trying to return them! The cardboard was only minimally opened at the corner to verify the size, and the batteries themselves were completely untouched.
• Pure rudeness: To cap it all off, the staff member aggressively asked, "Do you want to buy the batteries, yes or no?" as if I were trying to shoplift items I had already paid for.
Unprofessional, rigid, and deeply unpleasant. Save yourself the headache and take your business elsewhere: the staff at the Sjöbo branch clearly have no idea how to treat paying customers.
