These guys are scoundrels. We've been with them for 10+ years and all of a sudden I go into the system to add a forwarding email address and can't find the page I need. Got in touch with support a... See more

Zero star option is needed

Zero star option is needed! This is the worst company. They do not give refunds, even on charges in which the autorenew option is turned off. I am working with my credit card company to dispute this unauthorized transaction. These people have the worst business practices I have ever seen. I

Domain was set to auto-renew. It did not.

Domain was set to auto-renew. I explicitly asked them if it would auto-renew, as my card had not yet been charged for the renewal. They said yes, it would auto-renew. It did not! Services using that domain name of course went down until I logged into their awful control panel and manually renewed the domain.

I chatted with their support who gave me no answer as to why the domain did not auto-renew as expected. They then disconnected from the chat without resolving the issue or even saying anything.

0 stars if I could

0 stars if I could. Horribly trained chat staff that make the situation more confusing and worse because they don't understand their own system. Randomly dumped both my websites. Technical glitches all over the dotster website itself that make everything a nightmare. Use anything but this joke of a service.

Re-billed for domain privacy on expired domain…

I was re-billed for web hosting and domain privacy while letting my domain simultaneously expire. I don't know how I can be charged for a year of domain privacy on an expired domain??? There was a time when I think they were ok and competent. This has come and gone unfortunately.

Dotster is NOT your friend! Worst Customer Service EVER!

On May 1, 2020, I renewed my site's SSL certificate. What followed was a month of utter nonsense on Dotster's part as they 1) took my website off the web completely by adding their overly-priced SSL certificate, 2) claimed they had done the work and that I was some kind of fool, 3) found out they had done the work on a website that we'd stopped sponsoring years ago, and 4) still couldn't fix the issue and bring back the website. I finally fired them and moved to another site on May 28.

To sum this up:
1) They don't know what to do with their own products you buy from them.
2) They try to make you think it's your fault that they screwed up.
3) Their customer service replies come at the amazingly efficient rate of two emails per week; immediate issues do not get taken care of at Dotster because they don't know how to run their own tech support department. At one point they said, "We've escalated your case," which ended up meaning nothing.
4) Don't fall for Dotster's nonsense and use of meaningless apologetic language and their condescension. Doster does not care about you, your website, or your email. I think bad companies need to be CALLED OUT by everyone they've ripped off. So there you go, Dotster. There are much better web-hosting and email companies out there, friends...just read the reviews.

we purchased a domain and constantly…

we purchased a domain and constantly had problems. they state on their website that they are 24/7 support, but when we called them today (05/16/2020) they stated they aren't fulfilling calls and directed us to a worthless ticketing process.

their website chat is even less helpful. we had a representative named Suma who refused to escalate to their manager.

they are a scammy reseller of domain.com. they don't even provide a unique service.

our domain and website are still down, despite us having paid for their service.

they are crooks. stay away. go with namecheap or godaddy instead.

Stole money internationally.

I made a typo in my email address, now i can't get my 20 USD back. I've contacted them and they told me that i have to authenticate the email address even though i told them i can't because i made a typo, I've sent them proof of my PayPal email and receipt but they have ignored me.

They know i can't contact PayPal so they have willfully stolen my money. Crooks!

Our Experience With Dotster Has Been Fair We Have Learned A lot

Our experience with Dotster has been fair. We have a learned a lot about web development on a shared hosting platform. Overall it has been an acceptable shared hosting solution. The user interface is fairly straight forward. Dotsters 24/7 tech support is typically knowledgeable. We never hesitated to frequently call into support to keep our site running properly. We hosted our first website on dotster for 6 years. The domain is still up. Sometimes we have to call in to have the database and server updated. Not often however we have experienced short periods of downtime. Due to server overloads from high levels of traffic during development sprints. Expect to be very hands on. Their Knowledge Base documentation is very robust. Extra time spent exploring the post is valuable. We are fascinated by what options Dotster may provide in the future if any for dedicated cloud hosting as a service. Have a super day in the land of the living. Later.

Dotster wrote off my card money without …

Dotster wrote off my card money without my consent

Dotster have withdrawn from me money for service which I didn't order.

$17.49. Card **** 0530
I renew domain names at the price about $8.59. But not $17.49.

I didn't read the letter which Dotster sent
1. I did not subscribe to Dotsterr newsletter
2. I did not open spam
I didn't buy service
I don't need service
I didn't confirm payment

This is a huge non-respect for the user.

I asked about a personal discount, which compensates me for the costs. For example, I could be given a discount to renew the domain. But nothing was given to me.
This is a huge non-respect for the user again.
