Broken after three years of light use.

I was given a Dremel 3000 as a gift three years ago. It’s worked well until now, over a range of different tasks.

However the shaft lock mechanism has broken (feels like a thread inside has been stripped) and the current accessory cannot be removed.

Unfortunately Bosch will not honour the five-year warranty without the receipt (who gives a gift and includes the receipt?) which leaves me without a functioning tool and disappointed.
