Do NOT use DownSouth Holiday Homes

I wouldn’t recommend using Downsouth Holiday Homes. My family had a horrible experience with them I wouldn’t want others to endure. We made an initial booking with them that got cancelled which we only became aware of when viewing the refund we received in our credit statement. We had to ring up the provider to confirm the booking was cancelled. After we contacted them to voice our displeasure at our treatment they offered us in writing more expensive accommodation which wouldn’t cost us anymore than our original booking. We enquired about who would cover the difference in cost between our original booking and this booking ( several thousand dollars ). They confirmed they would do all of this and did so in writing. Unbeknown to us this booking was also cancelled and we did not receive a refund. The booking company instead booked us into a lesser accommodation without our knowledge. We asked them why they could not maintain the booking they guaranteed to which they replied the owner had taken the property off the market and that the property had been relisted. We had no way of verifying the veracity of this statement. We insisted they reinstate our booking which they refused to do so we pursued the matter with Consumer Protection ( CP ) because we found their action to be both misleading & deceptive. In the process with CP, they were unable to convince the provider to reinstate our booking ( they only have the power to conciliate ) and only a refund was offered. This whole saga continued for many months and left us deeply disappointed in the conduct of the provider.
