DOG POO EVERYWHERE, SO SAD.

The views from the cabin are marred by the amount of dog poo owners and none owners do not pick up. Their dogs are allowed to run around uncontrolled. If you’ll pardon the pun the place has ‘gone to the dogs’. I used to love my holidays on duster beach, not anymore, no one seems to care about the coastal path anymore, it is as if it is for dogs only. What a terrible shame. This decline has been over the last few years. WHERE ARE THE CARETAKERS,

I have had many happy holidays at…

I have had many happy holidays at Dunster Beach and stayed in several different chalets with my children when they were younger and friends more recently. Since re-marrying I’ve been looking forward to returning with my husband and we booked for a stay early September. Within hours of booking we realised we’d double booked ourselves. An apologetic email to bookings@ asking if we could change our dates was flatly refused by Jane as per their terms and conditions. Our deposit was non-refundable or transferable. I would understand had we held the chalet for weeks or months … but within 24 hours and a genuine mistake it seems extremely petty not to allow us to change our dates given the ease of digital bookings. Their email even had the front to end with ‘should we wish to check other dates or availability to please let them know’. I don’t think so. Not very customer friendly and sadly now unlikely to book again.

Chalet 46 is a home from home

Chalet 46 is a home from home, the owner making sure everything is fine for my stay on the first day. Nothing too much trouble. Chalet itself has a fantastic kitchen, twin beds in a separate bedroom with small TV , pictures on the walls, in the main room a comfy sofabed , electric recliner and an armchair. Full size shower and toilet. With views of the beach that you can't beat. Parasol for those sunny days and dog friendly too. A fantastic find and will be returning.

Chalet 46. Pitmans Retreat

My Family have been coming to this chalet for years and we Love it! It has everything you can think of in such a small space. My children have enjoyed staying here too! With bucket and spades, Frisbee's and bowls and games to play with left by the owner for kids to enjoy. The children have there own little bedroom and own TV to use. We love waking up every morning and opening the curtains to a beautiful sea view. The owner is very approachable and accomadating. We will be going back next year and can't wait!!

Poor experience at Chalet number 46. Pitmans Retreat.

The chalet reminded me of a date I once had with someone from Tinder. When I met him he bore no resemblance to the photographs! This is what chalet number 46 is like when you compare it with the owner`s pictures. The photo`s are from donkey`s years ago. Outside the paint is old and peeling as is the garden furniture. There is a back yard area which is not dog proof. Inside the furniture is old and mismatched and there are old and dirty rugs in the kitchen and bedroom. There was no hot water for the kitchen and an old coin meter for the electricity. The plastic mattresses on the tiny beds were cold and hard. The wi-fi does not extend to number 46 which wouldn`t have mattered but the TV wasn`t working properly, nor was the shower room extractor fan or the outdoor lights. There is a peculiar, screw on toilet seat which screws on and then promptly falls off. Alas too late I saw this issue was first mentioned in another person`s review in 2013! I went home on day three. Although I have written to the owner, she has not accepted any responsibility and her response was plain rude. Dunster Beach is one of my favourite places to holiday but this was a complete waste of money. £420 to be exact. An area I love which I have been visiting since I was a child. I will certainly holiday at Dunster Beach again, just not at number 46!
