Horrendous and unprofessional service
Here is my summary of my short time with this hugely disreputable vendor:
- Agreed on a price less than half of his original, only to try to put it up again within weeks
- Reneged on verbal agreements, then sent a debt collector to me (unsuccessfully) rather than accept my attempts to resolve it**(details below)
- Shared confidential information on one of his other customers. He saw that we had one of the same products, and told me the website of said company. He also told me that they get pretty much all of their sales from Google ads. This is effectively creating a competitor for his customers, but he would get to send all of the orders and doesn’t care.
- Couldn’t automatically upload tracking to my eBay orders – affecting my service metrics. It wasn’t until over two months after setting up my account, that he said I should manually add a 001 to the end of the automatically updated tracking on eBay to get the true tracking number. This is of course impractical.
- Left me often having to chase orders that were dispatched late
- Mis-picked orders on a regular basis – and never offered a resolution. I just had to pay them to send out a replacement.
- Often showed his lack of experience and competence within this industry. For example, I asked for a price on some small boxes. After chasing him several times, he admitted they didn’t have any. Any reasonably sized fulfilment warehouse should be able to offer such services.
- Sometimes took a week to register my deliveries to the system, meaning I had paid for stock to just sit there. All whilst paying the e-com hub for storage.
I went with this cowboy for three reasons, price, location and that I thought the OnBuy partnership was a sign of reputability. OnBuy clearly need to do more to vet their partners! On price, this changed in no time and I had to check every invoice thoroughly. On location, I would far rather have used one of the many others, although slightly further away (with hindsight). It is a serious risk to put your business in the hands of this extremely disreputable and unprofessional outfit.
** Since details of the above next to** are less clear cut than the rest of this review. I will now provide details. The part that is my word against his is that we had a verbal agreement to send some packages that were on the smaller side of small parcels as large letters. However, here are the facts on my side:
- He invoiced me according to this verbal agreement (to begin with)
- He made two attempts to put the prices of large letters up. In the first, he tried to claim I didn’t understand that VAT had to be added to orders, until I showed him an email that showed he had agreed to include VAT on their listed prices
- In the second, he said it was non-negotiable. I called his bluff, and said I would fulfil these orders myself, and pick the items up from his warehouse. Only then did he offer to reduce the pick and pack rate, effectively making large letters less expensive than before. Lo and behold, on the next invoice, these large letters had all been priced as small packages. I offered to pay according to our verbal agreement, but he instead sent a debt collector to me. After I got rid of them, he asked his book keeper to get a resolution from me. When I said that it was on them to invoice me according to our original agreement, they didn’t bother, and just said they were auctioning my stock.
