Criminals. Gave away the car after we showed up 10 minutes late because they gave us a wrong address 30 min away. We remained without car after having paid with a pregnant wife and 2 yrs old kid. Emba... See more

Rude and aggressive-stranded in Venice
We arrived in Venezia-Mestre with a confirmed booking including a toddler seat. The clerk at the local Ecovia office was a young girl that did not even said hello. When we were given the child seat, we pointed out that that particular model was not of the class we had booiked and was not adequate for the age of our kid. We asked kindly to find another solution. The response of the clerk, while chewirng on ger gum, was, literally:” I do not give a f*** about your kid, this is the seat I have, if you like it, take it, otherwise you can go f*** yourself”. We were left stranded with no other options. We spent a couple of hours looking for alternatives with no luck. Finally we were helped by a very kind manager of a nearby renting agency, Locauto, who managed to find a car with the proper seat for us, although at a premium price. Ecovia also refused to pay back the booking fee.
Scammers
Scammers, just like everyone explains, they push insurance on you very aggressively even when you tell them you have already got it.
Tells you all sorts of lies and wrong info about the insurance you already purchased and lies about the state of your vehicle in the hope you don't check and get scammed for more money on return for damage that was already there.
EXTREMELY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE
EXTREMELY RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE. Booked 1 week from Pisa airport. Repeatedly tried pushing their own fully comp insurance on us even though we’d booked our own from the UK. Told us we couldn’t relax for our whole holiday and that we’d have a terrible time. We loose thousands of pounds if anything happens etc. ok bad enough if they said this once but they didn’t let it go!! We went away and read our insurance small print came back happy to proceed with the cover we already had and they continued to tell us how we were stupid. We actually said to them can they stop now please, we’ve made our decision it’s on us! Such a stressful start to our holiday and a horrible welcome to a new country, especially when trying to sort this all out with two small children. AVOID! We took multiple photos and videos of the car on return and better get our deposit back!
Dreadful company
Dreadful company. You have to take a bus from the airport to the rental company - fine - but it's not clear where to get the bus from so we spent a good 20 mins trying to find the stop.
Receptionist was rude and unhelpful. Tried to push us to by their fully comp insurance (I buy this in the UK and it's much cheaper!) and when we refused for the 10th time, he refused to rent us the car we had originally booked. Rude, rude, rude! Would never hire from them again!!!
Take a video of your car before you leave the depot to make sure they don't try and charge you for damage you haven't done!!
They left us stranded in Pisa airport
Our flight had one our delay and landed at 23:10 in Pisa airport. Ecovia office closed at 23 and they did not wait for us although they knew we were about to land. We expected to have to pay a fee because we arrived after 23, not that they left us stranded. We had young children with us. We tried to phone them the day after but it was impossible to reach them. My husband went back to the airport the morning after and was told our booking was no longer valid. WHAT A SCAM!
We booked a car with Eurovia through Autoeurope so also very disappointed that Autoeurope deals with such bad companies and therefore exposes its clients to very stressful situations.
Ecovia Elmas airpost Cagliari
We rented a car at Elmas airport and brought it back in one piece. At delivery the lady told us everything was fine and the deposit should be back in two working days.
It's been two weeks now and i still have not received my deposit.
Also we waited for two hours, and what I've seen in the waiting queu was unbelievable. The counter staff were really rude to customers, and incredibly slow.
I can understand it may be busy sometimes, but still if they make you wait two hours, at least you should expect a faster deposit payback.
Ecovia car rental olbia, not only the phone was broken
Ecovia phone on the 5.th and 6th of july was out of service!! / broken. 😡 Walked to information counter at the airport and they tried it without result. Took a taxi with my luggage and tried next day on the 6.th of July to pick up the car on the adress. Office manager told me that my reservation was cancelled/ no show and that there is no refund or car. Confronted with the broken line/ no phone he said I should have had to pick up the car walking for 30 minutes with wife and child and luggage. The blame is on me and I should handle the issue with my booking agent/ booking com. What is your opinion of this great example of customer care and italian guest friendliness??
Ecovia refused a car because I arrived…
Ecovia refused a car because I arrived 2 hours late. No call?
I paid for this car for 7 days why does it matter if my arrival is a little late?
I ended up waiting almost 3 hours to get another car. I wasted valuable time to attend a wedding. I would never hire with them again. The male staff at the counter was rude, telling me untrue information.
AVOID THIS COMPANY
We collected our car at Bologna Airport and returned it 10 days later to Milan Malpensa. The car had a list of 23 damages covering various scuffs, scrapes and dents dating back as far as 2022. We photographed all of them - or so we thought. The man in the garage did not check the car with us as it was 17.00 hrs and he was going home. All in all the car was a mess. When we returned the car the first thing the checker did was to lift the windscreen wiper and underneath was a minute chip, the size of a pin head - it was as if he knew it would be there. He said it was not on the list of damages and that we were liable for it. We refused to sign to accept responsibility, but as they had pre-authorised 500 euros no doubt we will still have to pay. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I had the misfortune to book a car with this company through Booking.com. My car broke down with an electrical fault after 2 days and they were incredibly unhelpful. I ended up paying to get their car towed to a garage, paying for the repairs and they refused to reimburse me any of my costs. I didn't even try and get compensation for 2 days of my holiday lost!
Avoid like to plague!!
Rented a car from Ecovia (Venice Marco Polo Airport)
Rented a car from Ecovia through Expedia. Went to pick the car up from Venice Marco Polo Airport on 19/07/24. Met by two extremely unhelpful young men. Unfortunately, we did not have a credit card to pay for the deposit as it was booked under myself who did not have a credit card at the time.
As a result they couldn't offer us the car unless we were to purchase local insurance (which was considerably more expensive). We had to contact Expedia to get this refunded and to rent a new car under my partner's name. Expedia were extremely helpful and tried to contact the branch we were at to try to help us. The Ecovia team at Marco Polo Airport did not pick up the phone they were happy for it to ring out and explained there was nothing they could do. We managed to get refunded by Expedia (who were very helpful) and rented a new car through Expedia for another Ecovia car available. We were waiting for it to be approved by the Ecovia team. We asked the team at Marco Polo Airport whether they could get in contact/give us a number for the Ecovia office to try to expedite this confirmation. They said they had no number for the main office and would rather sit around and be entirely unhelpful than try to provide good customer service. Once it was finally sorted they charged us the wrong price for the final payment we needed to make.
Overall it was an extremely poor customer experience and I certainly would not recommend Ecovia to anyone especially if you were to rent a car from their Venice Marco Polo Airport Branch
Don’t use this company
Don’t use this company. We used Ecovia in Rome Fiumicino airport. Slow service, even though we had paid in advance. We booked car hire with ECOVIA through Booking.com as it came up its in car hire search. When we arrived at ecovia car hire desk, there were two attendants serving and a queue with 7 people before our turn. 30 minutes later only two people had been dealt with by these two attendants as one of the customers wasn’t happy and took a long time. At the end of the first 30 minutes, one of the attendants left to go home leaving only one attendant serving 5 people ( meanwhile all the other car hire companies had two-three attendants and small queues or no queues). No new attendant arrived to take over the one who left to go home. If we hadn’t paid for our car in advance, we would have hired a car from another car hire business. It took over an hour to deal with us. Note to the useless management of ECOVIA - make sure there are always two people serving customers or THREE people in busy times like on Saturdays. Always check companies reviews offered in booking.com.
Booked a car seat and none available!
Awful experience with Ecovia, we booked a car and toddler car seat to pick up at Milano Centrale and then we had a 3 hour drive to complete to get to our destination. After taking my husbands passport and driving licence details and signing all paperwork, we were then informed they didn’t have any car seats available. The member of staff was very unhelpful and didn’t seem to care that we had a 1 year old and no safe way to get him to our destination. They state that car seat bookings are ‘not guaranteed’ but this isn’t well advertised and causes a lot of unnecessary stress at the desk when one isn’t available. Surely Ecovia should know how many they have available and the booking system could indicate if they have sold out when booking the car?! We had to hire a car seat from a local family through Babonbo which cost us more in hire fees and we also had to return the car seat to Milan which was out of our way as the car was being returned to Pisa Airport! Would not recommend Ecovia or use again.
scammers
They refused to rent the car because my driver's license is not international. Argentine license in 2 languages, spanish and english. Salerno city.
THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!! I had to pay cancellation fees and rent somewhere else.
Avoid those scammers
Rented a car from them through CarTrawler and one day before picking up the car got an email informing that the car model for which i paid was replaced with a different one in the same category. After reaching the office they told me that they don't have anymore the car that i was booking and paying and that they can offer me a different one for an extra fee. That's a classic bait and flip scam. I rejected their offer and asked for the car that i was paying for and they asked me that i have to purchase a car insurance even if the cars were fully asured. That was the forced insurance scam. Rejected the extra insurance offer and they told me to wait a minute till they check the available cars and after "checking" they told me "sorry we don't have any cars available"!
Avoid those scammers.
Steer clear horrible service
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. They use any excuse to charge a super high fee that was not informed in the moment of the reservation. Furthermore, the workers are super rude. I called the ecovia at Malapansa Airport in Milan to try to obtain more clear information to where to delivery the car, and the worker Michel refused to help me, made fun of my doubts and hang out on me two times... imagine try to obtain help and be treatded this way... AVOID!
Doctor mileage on paperwork and charge for fuel you did not have
Hired a car from pescara airport only three quarter of tank fuel reported it and were told bring back same amount of fuel by zest. Did this and were charged 77 pounds. The mileage on paperwork did not match the figure in car. Avoid this company
DO NOT USE
DO NOT USE - Do your research prior. We booked via Ryan Air as a broker to use aboard. We thought originally it was helpful and seamless. Once we arrived it took us 2 hours to be collected to be offered a different car and told we need to pay €132 euros for insurance as the insurance we purchased via Ryan Air was not valid and if we were to crash we would need the additional insurance including an additional €100 euro deposit which would be refunded upon drop off. So we go to drop off the car and they ask for a refuel admin fee which is documented and an additional €36 euros for 90km of fuel which is not documented anywhere on the terms and conditions. The company is a con and made what should have been a pleasant experience very stressful. They create charges which are not documented on the insurance stating fuel would cost 2.1 when around the corner it was 1.3. Please note we weren’t given the courtesy to say pretty much all fuel stations shut on Sundays making it impossible to avoid the additional fees!!
Avoid this awful car rental
Avoid this awful car rental at all cost! Booked via Expedia, I have selected a filter with car at terminal, Pescara Airport, Italy. After waiting a long time, we have been instructed to go out the airport terminal area, to a service station and to collect the car where a staff member will be waiting. So, after the inconvenience, we reached this service station (which was already a clear signal of the "cowboy style" of this company), it took us a good few minutes to spot the little kiosk of this company.. went in there and this little guy, not even in an uniform, just nodded indicating us where the car was, "the key is inside the car". Spotted the car and once we opened the doors, it was awful: the car was not cleaned for a long time! Absolutely disgusting.. we thought of going back to complain, but it already took forever to be served, our flight was delayed of 1 hour, we were already exhausted and just wanted to go to the hotel for some rest, so we begrudgingly sat in the car. No screenwash in the tank. Just absolutely awful. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
