From start to finish I had an exceptional experience with Heather and the team, extremely helpful, efficient and professional. Always got back to me extremely quickly regarding any queries I had, could not fault them. Made such a stressful time a lot easier to deal with, excellent service.

There is something clearly not right about this firm.

Client abuse appears to be common especially regarding estate management following the death of a loved one.

Like so many others who have complained here and on Google reviews about this firm, beneficiaries monies are retained unlawfully past dates for distribution. It took them an inordinate amount of time to sort out my relative's estate which only involved a house sale.

I'd have been struck off if I acted as unprofessional as this firm.

Their management of estate funds is something that can be challenged via the Senior Courts Cost Office especially where they have overcharged for their services.

Have raised complaints with the firm directly especially to one of the directors. They simply ignore you and act as though they are above the law.

It appears that they do not understand some of the basics regarding client relations also.

If a loved one, relative or friend has their will written by Sheltons, Edward Hands and Lewis or one of their other businesses, I would strongly advise you to get another firm with decent upstanding morals to write the will and DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES allow this firm to act as executors in your estate! The bargain basement will writing service that they offer will soon pay dividends, FOR THEM, as they squander your relatives or friends funds living a lavish lifestyle through overcharging for their estate management services.

As others have said, they refuse to pay out funds which are rightfully yours, their communication is beyond abysmal. They will leave you stressed, tearing your hair out and appointing a solicitor to fight to get funds released.

There is no compensation available under the FSCS Scheme as they are classed as an Exempt Professional Firm (the word professional is obviously misused here).

The Legal Ombudsman is the service to use to complain about their services and I would encourage everyone with the slightest valid issue to raise a complain with the LO once you have received an unsatisfactory response within 8 weeks of complaining to the firm in writing or at 8 weeks if they fail as they did with me to respond to your complaint. It can be a very effective way of getting action but be aware it does take time for the LO to act as they are overrun.

You should also raise a complaint with the Solicitors Regulation Authority about any solicitor at their firm that you have had problems with and also the firm itself but the points they can consider are very limited so read their website and telephone them for advice if necessary. The SRA are very helpful.

Did everything myself. Had to chase up all parties everyday of my house sale. The wouldn’t do anything off there own initiative.

Very efficient and professional at all times. We are going through problems with the passport office at the moment and needed to get my change of name deed re-excuted This was done in a timely manner and continued communications at all times and is willing to help and give the time to see through this application for my sons passport .as we needed this pretty quickly my solicitor did this immediately and as requested to be kept informed until passport is completed incase I need further help and support in which case I will do . Further more I'd like to recommend sheltons solicitors. I appreciate your help and support and professionalism .

A distressing and frustrating experience

Do not use this firm (Melbourne office) for wills/probate. It has taken two formal complaints and nearly two years to settle my mother's very simple estate. Avoid them if you can.

What a wonderful company to deal with. Very professional, understanding, patient and went above and beyond our expectations. Special praise going to Keeley Dove and Liz Collins for their total dedication and help. BOTH A CREDIT to the company.

What can I say, 8 weeks from sale of our property to completion ! Heather at the Bulwell branch has been brilliant- professional, courteous and so efficient! I can’t recommend her highly enough, she amazing !

Would not recommend the Syston office as they don't return calls, don't chase. We ended up paying for a service and doing the legwork ourselves! The finalstraw was the monies owed to us from our sale was not received on the day we completed and still not in our bank account the following Monday, the excuse was it was end of month in accounts office!!!

After having worked alongside Hannah Fenton and Sarah a couple of years ago at EHL, there was nobody I wanted working on the purchase of our first home more than them! We completed today on the purchase of the house we have rented for nearly a decade! Hannah as always was super efficient, always reassuring and kept us in the loop at all stages. Knowing the process myself and having nothing but trust in Hannah and Sarah, I felt at ease knowing they would take care of our purchase without me needing to ask for updates and even with the parts less familiar Hannah explained everything. Have used lots of conveyancing solicitors in the past and found these most frustrating and unhelpful. When they required something from us we complied immediatly.when we asked something of them they delayed answering or then went over us and decided not to keep us informed of exchange or completion on a property which i legally owned half of ! Would not use them again for house conveyancing

I’ve used them umpteenth times over the years and they are always highly professional, brilliant at communication, extremely knowledgeable, and they offer a very personal, tailored service. It doesn’t feel like you’re dealing with huge company; I always feel like I’m their only client.

This particular [probate] purchase was an arduous ordeal to get over the line as the vendor’s solicitors were clearly incompetent, yet the Hucknal team exhibited great tenacity at perseverance at chasing them up and getting to completion as soon as was possible.
