I needed a couch that fit though a narrow stairwell and my options were limited. I found elephant in a box and decided to give it a try. It fit perfectly into the space no other couch could ever go and looks very nice. It was super easy to assemble. Took me about 15 mins to do it alone. My only issue is the cushions are really hard and flat. I wish it was softer. With that said, it's probably something I won't sit on.

I’ve been looking for years for the perfect modular couch. The stairs up to my second floor apartment don’t allow for a typical couch to fit, so for $750 (on sale), I gave Elephant in a Box a shot. I ordered it on Sunday and it was delivered on Thursday. The box it came in seemed like it would be easy enough for me to get up the stairs by myself, however the box and its handles broke easily and I needed a friend to help me move it up the stairs. That was the only issue I had. It took me 15 minutes to put it together with no instructions as there were no instructions in the box. To be honest, I don’t even think instructions were needed, it was so straightforward. The couch is super comfortable, super sturdy and very well-made, and my living room finally looks put together. Glad I gave this a shot, and will definitely purchase other products in the future.

Elephant in a box service was amazing. I had an issue with the shipping date where I wouldn’t be at home the day it would have been delivered to my home and they were able to return to sender and reship when I came back. Putting the couch together was interesting, wish the pictures were bigger for those who have bad eyesight, I build things for a living, so I was able to figure out what went were. But they do have a video tutorial on how to put your couch together if you have an internet connection available.

Other than that, I have only three things that could have been a bit easier:
- It’s already a less cumbersome couch to travel with, but the couch was really heavy to get into my apartment (119 lbs). It’s lighter when they are all separated but it would have been nice if it was less than 90 lbs. I had to break it down outside of my apt in the heat in dust.
- The ottoman outer cover was really hard to put on without ripping it or having an extra helper. For those that live alone, it would have been nice if it the cover was similar to a fitted sheet (it had a stretch band or was stretchy).
- The honeycomb technology for the ottomans (and maybe the couch) are touching the floor, so when I resituate the couch it drags on the wooden floor, haven’t checked if it scratched the floor. But those who rent a home and expect to move around a lot, it would be nice to have a thin UL bottom layer that prevented the honey comb from hanging and scratching the floor.

Other than that, it’s a good couch.

I wanted to love this couch, honestly. I loved that it was deep enough for both me and my toddler to nap on, it was compact and relatively comfortable, however the cons definitely outweighed the pros in my situation.
I purchased my sofa in May 2021, but did not unbox and set up until July 2021. At first it seemed fantastic. Setup was annoying, but I've put together worse things. About 1-2 months in, the back would not stay connected and sit flush, causing the back to bow out. (Imagine stubbing your pinky toes on the back of the couch multiple times a week, ouch!) Customer service first sent a piece of board to put over the center that was bowing, no luck. Then sent a replacement core. That seemed to resolve the issue for a couple months. I will say, customer service was always pleasant and courteous when I spoke to them. Replacement pieces took a while to come in because they would ship from their factory in Egypt.
Around November/December 2021, the same issue began happening again. This time the front piece would shift off of the couch and cause the cushions to slide forward and the back cushions to fall behind them. I would have to put my knees on the front of the couch and grab the back of it, essentially pulling it back together. This was a multiple times a day chore. Our lease just ended in our apartment, and I happily broke down this couch and tossed it in the dumpster. Between having to push it back together and vacuum pet hair off of it multiple times a day, I refused to take it with me when I moved.
Seriously reconsider your purchase if this is a couch on your list. The concept is great, but for the price, you can get something else that won't fall apart within months.

I love my couch and my ottomans. However, one of the ottomans arrived without hardware. I contacted then 2 weeks ago and they wrote back immediately but I still haven’t received the hardware.
The couch is great. Comfortable and sturdy.
It has a brutalist look and I love it.
I wish the honeycomb didn’t drag on carpet when you move the ottomans though.

Very comfortbale and nice looking sofa. It's very practical, easy to transport and assemble and most importantly gives warmth to our living room

I really wanted to give this unit five stars, but there are two small things that knocked off a star. The corner unit has a gap between it and the stand alone seat. It's small, but it is noticeable. Of more concern is the cushions. They are *very* firm, bordering on uncomfortable after a couple hours of use. This may not be a big deal for occasional users, but as a daily driver, it can get uncomfortable. Even so, the unit was easy to set up, well packaged, and seems to be holding up well so far.

The idea is amazing. I love how it folds. It is the only solution for my basement. NOTHING can fit in it. I searched in the "in the box" sofas, and I found Elephant in a box is the most affordable option. Not a cheap though, but life guarantee made it the highest value for money.

Absolutely in love! This couch is perfect! The design is beautiful, it is soo comfortable, and the color is perfect. It was absolutely worth the price. it was certainly one of the most comfortable couches I've ever had to sleep on. Can lay on it all day long.

Amazing overall customer experience. What can be better than the sofa that can fit the box and travel wherever you need it?

I’m genuinely in love both with the idea and with the product. It is a must-have item for everyone who, like me, has to move from place to place and wants to get a maximum of comfort and minimum of hustle.
