Very bad experience: Senior iOS Developer

Acquired by elGrocer and working on products and other millions of users in UAE.

Cons:
- The workplace is heavily influenced by internal politics, even at the top management level. - The codebase is extremely poor, lacking any real architectural structure, and there’s no opportunity for proper refactoring. - Deadlines are often unrealistic, which is the main reason behind the messy and unmaintainable code. - The HR department seems more focused on pleasing management than supporting employees, often enforcing policies that are completely misaligned with Pakistani culture. - Management shows little to no trust in their employees. - At the end of each year, the company tends to lay off loyal employees just so certain individuals in management can secure their own positions. - No work life balance because of meeting unrealistic deadlines imposed by managers. The managers are also under pressure all the time and can’t deny the imposed deadlines
Advice to Management
Management should prioritize building trust and transparency with employees rather than engaging in internal politics. Encourage a culture of clean architecture and realistic timelines to improve code quality. Align HR policies with local values and focus on retaining loyal, hardworking team members instead of replacing them for personal gains.
