Scam

Scam! Scam! Scam!
THEY DOWNLOADED FILES ON MY ACCOUNT SO THEY CAN TAKE OUR $199!!!!!!

They charged us $199 for 3-Days free trial. We requested the refund at the same moment without using, downloading, or reviewing emanuals website. They alleged that we had downloaded two files.

The true is we never downloaded any file. However, there are two downloaded files on our account. I BELIEVE THEY WHO DOWNLOADED THESE TWO FIELS ON OUR ACCOUNT SO THEY WILL TAKE OUR $199.

We want to make this crystal clear for you:

You manually selected and upgraded from the free trial to the Annual Plan, bypassing the default monthly option. This was not a system error or deception — it was a user-selected action.

We even display a clear pop-up at the time of upgrade explaining exactly what happens when you upgrade to a paying membership. You acknowledged and agreed to it.

Following this, you immediately began using our membership services, adding and downloading two manuals to your account, which is recorded and verified in our system. This use of service voids any eligibility for a refund as per our Refund Policy, which is available publicly on our website.

We do not download anything on behalf of customers. That is a false and unfounded claim. We take accusations like this seriously and will not tolerate misinformation designed to damage our reputation.

We are not a scam — we’re a long-standing, legitimate business offering access to over 5 million repair manuals. You can scream “scam” a million times if you want — it won’t change the fact that:
1. You selected the annual plan yourself.
2. You used the service to access and download content.
3. You are not eligible for a refund because of this.

We operate transparently and fairly — but we also enforce our policies consistently.

I am beyond enraged with this scam

An absolute scam. Words cannot describe the anger I feel right now. I am convinced this is an exploitative site taking advantage of elderly car enthusiasts or anyone who isn't greatly experienced with technology and computers. A friend bought a ONE TIME purchase manual where the specific car model of interest was listed, but was given not any kind of readable document, only a file that required extensive download of a separate program that simulates another computer to be able to view it, and the supposed link to show how to set it up didn't work. Once we figured out how to do it ourselves, it was completely unnavigateable, unsearchable, didn't show any useful information beyond some blurry images of car parts (no how-to instructions), and everytime you wanted to go to the previous page, the whole thing went back to the main menu so viewing anything was an agonisingly slow and tedious process as you had to click through screens after screens to get to where you were. Forget the "clear images" you boast so much about - and it didn't even have the car model that it was specifically purchased for!

ON TOP OF THAT, we see now, like so many others complain here, that you have sneakily placed a monthly subscription that wasn't announced at all. It was pure luck that we discovered this now, even if it was after some months of you draining their bank account. Again, no information about this was given, no heads up, no email about it - nothing! STEER CLEAR from this "company." I'll be sure to run a virus scan on their computer after this. Disgusting and predatory business behaviour!

🔹 We don’t sell individual manuals at emanuals.com. Our platform is strictly a membership-based service that provides access to our entire 5 million+ manual library through a range of membership plans. So, if you or your friend believe you purchased a single manual, it’s very likely you ordered from a different website altogether. It’s a common misunderstanding, especially with websites that look similar to ours. If you can provide an order ID, we’ll be happy to verify.

🔹 Regarding the monthly membership charge: When signing up for our 3-day free trial, it’s clearly stated (multiple times throughout the sign-up flow) that if the trial is not cancelled before expiry, the account is automatically upgraded to a monthly membership. This information is not hidden — it’s shown on the plan comparison page, in the upgrade pop-up, and again in the confirmation email.

🔹 As for the file format and software, some of our more advanced manuals (especially OEM workshop software) are delivered as OVA/OVM files. These are fully legal, factory-issued software manuals that require a virtual machine environment to run — much like diagnostic tools used by dealerships. That said, if you’re having trouble navigating or setting them up, we’re always happy to help. You just need to reach out via email or reply to our Trustpilot support message with your order details and we’ll assist you directly.

We completely understand that not everyone is tech-savvy, and we go out of our way to support all users, regardless of their experience level. But we always encourage everyone to read the information before entering payment details or starting a trial — this avoids misunderstandings.

No refunds on accidental late cancellation

Didn't have the manual I wanted. Their automatic payment system keeps trying for payment. When requested a refund I received no reply.

In response to the reply. It would have been more greatly received if the last email you sent me was not titled “Your Order Refunded”. Which is in fact just a marketing ploy to say you are giving away free memberships

While I didn’t have any personal reason not to like your cheap company, lacking in customers to write marketing tactics individually, I will from now on consider emanuals void of any integrity.

Scammers!!

Scammers is the best way to describe this company! I signed up for a “3 day Free trial” but they charged me US$99 on the first day! When I complained they came up with the excuse that I had downloaded manuals – but I was never warned about that downloading would start a subscription.
I have contested the charge with my credit card company and will report it to the police as this is a clear scam!
Furthermore; the provided manuals are not good. I viewed three “different” manuals for one car but they were all identical, PDF’s that are not searchable. Try finding the instruction you need in a 300 page document without search-ability.
Stay away from this company!

This means that the charge was valid as you agreed to it at the time.

Accessing and downloading manuals is considered usage of the membership, which is why we are unable to issue a refund after this has occurred. Be cautious when using website

Signed up to a trail but clicked a button in the website and ended up being charged for a full membership. Be very careful what you do on their website as one click can end up with you being billed for something without any warning.

I was inclined to just carry on and download manuals that I thought would be useful to me and then I cancelled my membership.

Emanuals then stopped my access but continued to bill me. I had to raise a dispute through Visa in order to get my money back as customer service were only interested in taking my money.

Be warned.

After I cancelled my free trial they…

After I cancelled my free trial they charged me. Well that would have been all right but. Since I cancelled the free trial they deactivated my account. So now I have been charged for a product they refuse access to me. This company seems like a shady and fraudulent company that “WILL” screw your and take your money!! The best part is the one thing I need from the manual(header swap on a car) they did not even have instructions. Stay away!
