Hidden upfront payments totalled £110

A £10 payment authorisation fee was hidden, despite the fact I picked a £4.95 delivery option, and no service charge showed up in the billing receipt. I emailed to query this and was told that it was stated in the FAQs - which I did not think I needed to read given that I had chosen a delivery charge. And it wasn’t made clear anywhere else.

Minutes after the company responded to me explaining what the £10 ‘test’ fee was for, I received a separate email (from seemingly the exact same person) saying I had been ‘randomly selected’ to receive a £100 charge which would then be refunded to me after I had my order. Which is kind of ridiculous when the whole USP is try before you buy. also makes no sense to randomly charge new customers, who (I assume?) you are trying to convert to returning customers. Plus I was told conflicting information by the same person within minutes of each email. It obliterated the little trust I had in a new company and confused me no end. It’s a bit of a lesson in a terrible comms ecosystem.

All in all I found it a bit of a waste of time- I mainly trialled this because I wanted to buy an Arket coat (which cost £150). But given I would have had to pay £110 it’s much faster and easier to go direct so I have cancelled my order. Thought it was a great idea but it’s not quite there yet. Also I wonder about the longevity of it now that brands (including Arket) are starting to use Klarna - or other services that allow you to try before you buy.

Hi there,

First of all, please allow me to apologise for the conflicting and confusing emails you received from us.

We are constantly working to improve the service we deliver to our customers and your feedback is extremely valuable and will be acted upon.

I’m sorry that the payment authorisation charge was not clear to you. This charge is taken and voided immediately, though it may appear on your bank statement. Depending on your bank, this charge may remain on your statement for 2-3 days, though it should be removed within one working day. We do state that we will perform an authorisation charge when we ask for your payment details at the checkout, as well as in our FAQs.

The refundable deposit which you were asked to pay is an extra security measure which is randomly assigned to orders placed on Endource and is outlined in our Terms and Conditions.

The order acknowledgment email which you received was correct. Next to where it says ‘Service Charge’, the amount was £0, because you opted in to our free 30-day trial.

Nonetheless, I appreciate that you feel the emails which you received from us conflict with our messaging.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our business, we have to be more cautious than other companies before we process people’s orders. This is why we perform a payment authorisation on all orders and ask for a refundable deposit on a small number of them.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We will take action based on your comments and I hope you will consider giving us another chance in future.

All the best,

Miranda

Too much large packaging!

Great idea, great selection of brands, good website but for this to work the service needs to be easy and it's not.

If you are like me and have to get deliveries to your workplace as you are never home Endource is not for you.

There is way too much packaging. My recent order arrived was huge it was separated between 3 boxes so big that I could barely carry a single one to the train that evening let alone the other two. As I had the items delivered to my office I now have no way to get all the boxes home on the train other than one at a time which I'm concerned will mean I miss the returns window. I contacted the customer care team and they offered no support nor seemed to concerned about this being a problem.

I have cancelled my subscription and will not be using the service again.

Love it!

80% of my shopping is now done with Endource!
It's great to be able to order multiple sizes and from different brands in one delivery. These days it can be hard to keep track of several orders and refunds. The boxes come very well packaged, the delivery is within the expected time and the collection makes returning a breeze! They've recently implemented a teeny tiny service charge, but I've signed up for a monthly subscription and it's totally worth it for the convenience.
It also can't go unsaid how helpful the Endource concierge team is. They're really helpful with any issues with deliveries/collections and if a product I have ordered has sold out their recommended alternatives have been great! I would love more recommendations from them.

Really like the concept and great selection

Really like the concept of being able to order multiple items and sizes and only pay for what you keep. I just moved to the UK and haven’t had time to shop so I’m still learning what brands and sizes fit. The only problem is that the boxes required signature upon delivery and since I work full time it took me three attempts to find a day the boxes could be delivered when someone was going to be home to sign for them. Not sure if this is because I ordered shoes so they were large boxes or if this is standard for every delivery? If signature is required I’m not sure it will be worth the hassle of ordering another box.
Loved that I could find some of the same brands and styles I had seen at high street shops!

Great service so far

Great service so far. Excellent concept as long as you don’t need things in a rush as the delivery times can be in excess of their stated 5-7 days as they obviously have to source the clothing to then repackage and send out.

Very misleading

Very misleading - I read the returns policy online which stated that returns are free. On that basis I made an order. I only wanted to order a coat, however due to the site conditions, I had to purchase another 2 items. I returned all 3 items within the 5 days and now I am being chased for this £10 service charge. £10 is not a lot of pay however I refuse to pay as this was not clear. I will be staying well away from this. It is ridiculous to charge this anyway since majority of websites offer free returns.

Hello Jasmine,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us this valuable feedback.

I'm so sorry for the confusion, it was obviously not our intention to mislead you or any of our customers.

The Endource Concierge Service is very unique in that you pay nothing up-front for your items and have up to 7 days to try everything on, in the comfort of your own home, before you are charged for what you keep.

To provide our lovely service, we have a concierge team ordering, picking and packing your order and processing your returns, for just a small service charge. The service charge helps to pay for the try before you buy service and does include free delivery & returns, while ensuring you never pay more for your items than what the brands would charge you direct.

We do our best to make it very clear throughout the site and on all correspondence (especially before you pay), exactly what we are charging you and why, but understand you may have misunderstood the policy and thought we were charging you to return your items, when in fact we weren't. I'm very sorry about that. We are constantly reviewing our on-site messaging in order to avoid situations like this.

We have recently introduced a £4.95 monthly subscription option that includes unlimited orders, free delivery and returns for no additional fees. This service charge provides the best value for regular shoppers and may be more suitable for you in the future.

Thank you again for your feedback, our customer service team will be in contact with you again directly to ensure there were no further misunderstandings.

All the best,

Troy

I came across Endource by accident…

I came across Endource by accident whilst tracking down an item of clothing. I thought it was a brilliant idea to get the chance to order something in two sizes without having to pay anything until you make a decision after trying on at home. So often the sizing of clothes can vary depending on many factors ie Brand, shape, cut etc. I found that very useful as I wouldn’t usually pay out for an item in two sizes particularly when it’s an expensive item. One thing that could be improved upon is that when I ordered a couple of belts it delayed the arrival of my box and I had to email to ask when the box would arrive as I was going away on holiday. The outcome was that Endiurce was awaiting the belts....so I cancelled them in order for the box (my other items) to be sent without further delay. I think if items are being awaited for like that, Endource should communicate it to the customer as I didn’t know why it was taking a while. Keeping in touch like that would benefit the customer experience. Having said that I would still highly recommend Endource. Also the returns system was very easy and as soon as they were received back, I had an email stating that my invoice was due and after that, my account was debuted with what I purchased. Clever idea. I’ll be using them again.

Endource offer a wonderful service, shop at home and have your items sent and only pay for what you keep, I love it. All your favourite shops on one place. The staff are amazing and offer great alternatives if the items are unavailable, it’s like having a personal shopper. Items are packed beautifully and arrive in a box. I would definitely recommend.

Endource makes shopping easy for New Mum

It is a great idea that you only pay for what you keep. As a new Mum it’s hard for me to go shopping with the baby to find outfits for the weddings I’ve had this summer. I like the range of brands they stock- a diverse collection to suit different budgets.

Order cancelled after two days

I ordered three items that were available on the website but a couple days later received an email telling me all the items on my order had been cancelled due to lack of availability. Simple solution...? Don't waste my time by showing them as available on the website. It's a shame because this is potentially a great concept but not finessed enough to actually work. Cancelling my account.
