Lies and more lies

Sales literature is full of lies. Number of clubs in UK is wrong. Hardly any franchisees achieve a profit. Profit stated is a lie. Value of company is a lie, not one franchise has ever been sold at the value stated and most sold are given away because they are distressed or entering liquidation. The business case is a work of fiction and leads to mis-selling. Costs are deliberately understated to the extent they have no bearing on reality. Revenue is massively overstated along with the time to achieve the revenue. Only one but two clubs have EVER achieved the total revenue and number of members. The support is non existent, the apps and platforms are basic and substandard. The flow of member fees that have support and marketing costs deducted are not transparent. Energie take fees from everything and the ability to manage the business into profit is impossible. The reality is Energie have no interest in the franchisee being successful, they would rather watch you go bust, take over your gym and then sell someone else a franchise fee.

They mislead, mis-sell, lie and take your money and couldn’t care less if you lose the lit. .

Just ask basic questions. How many clubs? Ask to talk to various gym owners that have achieved the revenue, profit, member numbers and timescales stated. Ask who has achieved a sale price they claim to achieve. Ask what’s the reality of the cost base.
And don’t speak to shine on glossy sales material. Find out who owned previous clubs and get the truth. They are snake oil salespeople and history should tell you to stay away or you are going to lose all your money.

Misleading promises and no refund of the franchise fee

I paid the franchise fee to open a gym in Valencia. Before signing, I was assured the renovation would cost €200,000, but the real cost ended up being exactly double. As a result, I was unable to open the gym. At first, they told me they would refund the franchise fee (€29,000), but they never did. I lost that money and they have stopped responding to me.

This company sells franchises to those…

This company sells franchises to those who try to run scams on ex members, passing data to a fake third party debt collection agency using a revolut bank account

100s of ex members and people who had never stepped foot in one if their Milton Keynes gyms, only ever expressed an interest were sent letters claiming money was owed [many years later]. The company claimed legal action would be taken I'd fees weren't paid and payments should be made to their bank account.

I was a member when they opened and cancelled membership following protocol. I was assured I'd receive a reply by email and saw 100s of people online in a panic about this email

Apparently this was all an error but raises huge concerns about how they protect data

Énergie Fitness stay away

Énergie Fitness has shown some extremely questionable business practices. Initially, they lure potential franchisees into signing one-sided, unfair agreements. However, once the contract is signed, their attitude towards franchisees drastically changes for the worse.

They appear to exploit gyms for every bit of value, with little regard for the long-term success of the business. Current franchisees are reportedly unhappy, and many former franchisees have taken legal action against them. Mismanagement has led to the closure of at least 50 gyms in recent years, and the company has cycled through five CEOs. Even their former finance director, John Jempson, allegedly referred to them as scam artists before leaving the company.

If you're a potential franchisee researching Énergie Fitness, consider this a warning. These unethical practices could cost you your life savings, your peace of mind, and more. Proceed with extreme caution.

Conmen since the start!

It's really shocking to see that these people are still in operation. We also were roped in believing we had a solid support system from this franchise but once they had our money, it all went left. Our experience is from 2013, in High Wycombe. Good people, choose another franchise!!

Energie fitness franchise nightmare

Had a franchise gym with energie fitness/scotland and lost all my savings and gym closed in the first year of trading. This is what you pay 36k for to be guided to personal bankruptcy. Energie Scotland did not even help me minimise my debt when they signed me up to equipment finance agreements as a personal guarantor leaving me with 36k debt on top of losing all my money when it shut down. They helped me recover 2000 then ignored my emails. Be careful. The same person is now the whole uk franchise recruiter now nice perk after screwing loads of people gets rewarded by the new director of energie. Just be careful before investing there are gyms that work but a lot that dont also. I was advised to open in glasgow with 150 members immediately going into _-6000/7000 a month deficit with the promise of 100/200 new members next month which never came then advised to take more and more personal loans leading to me been personally bankrupt I didnt pay 36k to get guided into personal bankruptcy in one year but thats what happened. Then ignored. Finances ruined for life:(

Energie fitness seen as I cannot reply I will not listen to that nonsense I have been emailing numerous times to energie with no response half the time. I have a yard that I paid 25k for and energie have made hardly any effort to help me sell it. With all the gyms energie have surely they can help. They managed to sell all the equipment in energies name straight away funnily enough. Regards providing support surely energies guidance that you pay 36k for would not guide someone into a closure after one year after finding a property for me. Doesn't seem right to me and it just negligence when you owe me a duty of care when I signed that franchise agreement to help me out. I will email you and hopefully I get some help and a reply to minimise the massive debt I am jn. Surely that is not too much to ask after losing 200 thousands pounds in the first year before it closed?

Invest somewhere else

Shocked they are actually still going! They have removed all internal staff and they have no support system. They just take your money and leave you bankrupt. Invest somewhere else. They pay to remove all bad reviews hence why there are not many online. Simply speak to current franchisees and they will tell you how dodgy this company is.

As a franchisee if I knew what I know…

As a franchisee if I knew what I know now I would have never had gone in to business with them and other franchisees still in the business now most of them are just keeping their heads above water you are saddled with a lot of debt and you are told it’s all roses at the start you should easily get 2000 members but when you open that is not the case most franchisees won’t ever see 2000 members the franchise has gone from 130 to 80 gyms most have gone bankrupt and some have gone independent it’s a massive con and they take a lot of money from the franchisees monthly as well for what exactly a bi weekly and training that is below par at best completely agree with whistle blower whose previous post was taken down I feel totally let down by the whole experience definitely not the 5* experience I was sold

My Bank details used without my agreement // GDPR NOT RESPECT

I did my membership with ENERGIE FITNESS in Forest HILL London, on December 2019, i provided my bank details of Metrobank, few days later they called me to let me that my direct debit authorization has been rejected, then i called on 29th December to give another account another from BANK.

The assistant manager which i spoke to over the phone could not set up a direct debit, then he asked ME to come directly to the gym to set up a direct debit there, i never went there because i was busy and for a personal reason i decided to cancel my membership.

Few days later i received a call from them and also some email regarding my reason to leave, which i ignored and today i found that my details has been added later on without any authorization.

i called them today to check the record calls of my conversation, they said they don't keep any record, to be honest their manager Mr KOBRI was trying to cover his team by asking me why i gave my details first if i would not proceed, i found it very irresponsible cause instead of blaming his assistant why he added later on my details or not giving me a second call in order to inform me that he proceed after me.

The Manager Kobri said he spoke with his assistant who said i was ok to do the direct debit which i denied and ask to listen the call, he said they don't record the call which is also not right regarding the GDPR policy, i told to KOBRI, his assistant first should have to ask me if i want to be recorded or not because he was taking my bank details, he did not secondly i did not sign any paper for the direct debit in my second account.

KOBRI seemed not be aware about the GDPR process which he said he pretended been trained, I asked my refund KOBRI said he could refund me in my second account if i could pay with the first account, i refuse i said i want my refund first he said no.

TO be honest this is the first time i seen that a company who allowed their agent to keep details added on behalf of the customer without any agreement sign or confirmed and also not RECORDED the CALL as a proof.

I have reported this company via .gov-uk/data-protection for not respecting my privacy.
