A great way to invest ethically
Energise Africa is a great way to invest in projects that provide sustainable, green energy to people in developing countries. They are clear about the risks of such investments, as well as the benefits, and are diligent in their research to minimise these risks. My two previous investments have both done well, and I have just placed a third order. Highly recommended!

Efficient and trustworthy
I would recommend using Energise Africa if you want to invest in solar energy in Africa. The investments have generally been sound with a successful track record bearing in mind that these investments have an inherent risk.

A lack of oversight and due diligence
Three of my investments have proven to be business failures: whilst explanations have been provided there is clearly a lack of oversight and due diligence, and I shall not be throwing good money after bad. My advice to investors is to have nothing to do with this organisation, as it is far from clear that your money will not simply disappear into a black hole , never to be seen again.

Energise Africa follows a well-developed and thorough due diligence process in assessing the investment opportunities which are made available on the Energise Africa website. This involves assessment of the business and site visits performed by our experienced investments team, review of audited company accounts, and approval by an independent credit committee.
Offers available on the Energise Africa platform are high-risk direct investments into start up organisations in Africa providing clean energy access.
This is also why such investments have the potential to be so impactful for the start-up organisations they fund, offering clean energy access in areas where there is none.
As set out in the offer materials (as well as on the Energise Africa website risk warnings and appropriateness test which must be passed by all investors before they are able to invest), due to the high-risk nature of these investments neither capital repayments nor interest payments are guaranteed.
The repayment terms for offers are set in advance, however that does not mean the repayment schedule or payment amounts are guaranteed. These are high risk investments and individuals can only invest once they have passed the appropriateness test and other eligibility criteria and indicated that they understand and accept the risks involved.
Where an investment offer does not perform as originally expected, we do our best to be as transparent as possible and provide our investors with regular updates on all projects, as and when information becomes available to us from investee companies.
We communicate with investors as soon as possible once it becomes clear that an offer may not perform as anticipated, acting in our role as intermediary in terms of relaying information between the issuer and investors as set out in the offer materials.
We also publish the financial performance of all our Investees (including those that are not performing as expected) via the Portfolio Overview link in our website footer. Easier access to information on funds available to invest?
My experience is that investment opportunities with Energise Africa are relatively few, and so unless you respond very quickly you find the opportunity is no longer there - it is fully funded. So when I log onto the site, I would welcome an immediate alert to how much is in my account and available to invest. This information can be found, but it takes time. Otherwise everything about Energise Africa is great!

Energise Africa is a fantastic way in which we can invest our money in positive ways that improve wellbeing and combat climate change. The risks of investment are set out very clearly.
My only criticism is that some figures in the Financial Overview in the Offer Document could have been more clearly explained.

Always a positive experience but you need to be on the ball
Every investment I have made with Energise Africa has been straightforward and efficient.
My only concern is that most new investments get fully subscribed very quickly so as I do not have my email open constantly I often miss opportunities. The downside of a successful investment platform I guess.

Great projects, fantastic impact
Great projects, great company, and fantastic to invest my money in schemes which help low income families AND tackle climate change.
There have been some late payments on some of my investments, and I think that with COVID and the wider economic situation globally, some of the companies I invested in have run into trouble, but I can see that Energise Afica are working to recover funds, and have recently been good at keeping me up to date. The impact that these investments have is certainly worth the risks, which are clearly explained on the site.
