Under investigation - Do not use!

We agreed the company would do some internal repairs to my roof and then do a basic lift conversion.
A week dragged into three months with increasing delays, excuses and demands for money.
The initial repair was checked by my engineer and passed so I paid 50% of the invoice but then everything went down hill.
Plumbing was damaged and I had to repair it, the wrong size and type of window were "fitted", the wrong type of staircase was installed and the work that was done was very poor.
The electrical work was condemned and dangerous. They left live wires in the open (telling me they'd been disconnected) and it all had to be re done.
I finally lost patience and threw them out. I had to threaten them with police to get them to leave. By this point they were aggressive and very difficult to handle.
I have informed the local police and trading standards. There is a case being built against them now and I hear they are planning to go into liquidation.

This company removed tiles from my roof…

This company removed tiles from my roof and then insufficiently secured it leading to a serious leak for weeks (claiming an act of god for rain) - repeatedly (3 times) informing me they couldn’t afford to finish my roof unless I paid more money, claiming to be going into insolvency and asking for more money with ultimately no intention of finishing the work. As I had water pouring into my home, I paid more money in order to get the situation resolved. After paying the final amount for tiles to be delivered before their business became “insolvent” they let my calls go to voicemail and removed their tools and scaffolding while I was at work that same day - there was a clear choice made to take money without intent to finish the job and then disappear, leaving me with a leaking, unfinished roof. I had to get someone else to fix the roof, and I’m left with thousands of pounds of water damage to my home. Quite honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had with any tradespeople.

Luke Duffy & Energy Saving Solutions - Caution

I am providing a factual account of my personal experience with this contractor, whom I engaged for home improvement work namely a new roof. The purpose of this statement is to document the issues I encountered and to advise others to undertake thorough due diligence when selecting Luke Duffy and his company, Energy Saving Solutions UK.
During the course of the project, a number of matters arose that caused significant concern. Work took longer than originally indicated, and certain arrangements - such as the delivery of agreed-upon materials and protection of the garden area - did not occur in any shape or form. Temporary waste-disposal arrangements placed in the garden resulted in debris, including sharp objects and tools, being left behind despite the promise of a skip and garden coverings to prevent damage. Damage to living room area due to removal of chimney also occurred.
I was also asked for additional payments beyond the initial deposit, which differed from the agreed payment schedule which was 20% upfront, and rest on completion. Emotional statements such as "if you don't pay this will hold up your neighbours work" was often used. I did not pay until completion and gardens areas cleared. Communication became increasingly difficult, and some messages I received were not in a tone I considered appropriate for a professional working arrangement based on language and allegations against my character. These have all been submitted to relevant bodies and surprised he would put pen to paper in this fashion which has only helped me in the longer term. Latterly of course the tone changed and obviously Chat GBT was being used. Also, lots of talk of insolvency, which on checking with the company he named as the "Appointed Insolvency Practitioner", they had never heard of Energy Saving Solutions UK or Luke Duffy on this occasion.
I also experienced damage to part of my property, including my home alarm system, which subsequently required attention, but the offer of a new cosmetic box was offered, despite the whole system hanging out of the wall. Neighbours reported having difficulties related to work near their property as well but will leave them to review.
The number of workers present onsite varied throughout the project, and at times appeared significantly reduced from the number originally discussed.
Due to the ongoing concerns of myself and others, the relevant authorities got involved, including Trading Standards and local representatives including Police and MPs, in order to understand the proper channels for addressing the situation. I would encourage others in similar circumstances to seek guidance from official bodies who can provide advice on consumer rights and appropriate next steps which have proved helpful in taking this forward.
This statement reflects my personal experience only and is intended to inform others to conduct careful checks, request clear written agreements, and maintain thorough written records when engaging with this Contractor as well as Certification, as this may happen to you and if you delve in far enough you will see previous reviews based on Luke Duffy and his previous companies.
Despite all this I was lucky to stand by my ground and not pay until completion, others may not be so fortunate. I do note on this site however, that all the great reviews have now been removed due to displaying Trust Pilot content incorrectly

Terrible Customer Service

Signed contract on 06/10/25 for external insulation, windows and doors - paying 40% of the contract cost. Was advised that work would commence on 17/11/25. Since paying we have had no contact from the company to advise whats happening with the job. I have had to call them each time for an update. I have been advised 3 times that the job had been delayed and given new date. But each time no show on start date & again no correspondence. I called them on Friday 31st October, was given an explanation on why the delayed had occurred, an apology for the delay, then reassured that it would commence this week. No show again. I have called numerous times over the past 3 days, left voicemails and emailed but no response. My feeling is that it was all just delay tactics and now they are just ignoring me because they have no intention of completing this work.

Just don’t get involved or hand over money

Doorstep sales company who took money from my elderly parents then failed to refund even though cancelled within cooling off period. Been given a bunch of delay tactics from company who rent a virtual office address, nothing actually based there. Have looked into and this is the latest company knocked up this year by Luke Duffy, see also LPD Maintenance Ltd. A search for actual reviews will no doubt lead to Facebook posts which give a more accurate insight into these companies.
Could ramble on and on with further detail but essentially stay clear.

Reply from Energy Saving Solutions uk

Hello Derek,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and want to clarify the situation. Your refund has been processed — the delay was due to the cancellation being made on the final day of the 14-day cooling-off period, which naturally extended the processing time slightly.

We want to assure you that we categorically would never take a deposit and not return it. We pride ourselves on being transparent, compliant, and fair with every customer.

If you’d like to discuss this further or confirm the refund details directly, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.

Kind regards,
Energy Saving Solutions UK
