We provide local bus services in the Lakeside and Grays areas and the seasonal open top routes 68 between Southend Pier & Leigh-on-Sea and 99 between Southend Pier & Shoeburyness. This is a joke...

Ensignbus needs to take a serious look at the state of their service. Their buses are constantly late, and the condition they run them in is honestly unacceptable. The floors are never mopped, rubbish is left everywhere, and the seats are absolutely disgusting. A prison bus would be cleaner than this.

Prices keep going up while the service gets worse. No compensation, no accountability. It’s outrageous. A company should be ashamed to operate public transport in this condition. Sort it out

Bank holiday monday and all the busses…

Bank holiday monday and all the busses are the same route number going differnt place, query it with the driver or call and all they say is nothing i can do, driver told me to f off when i asked if he could confirm the route. Councils should be looking to cancel their contract with this failed service.

Worst company ever,they double the…

Worst company ever,they double the price for tickets and never on time,3 buses from lakeside to Aveley no even one from Aveley to Lakeside waiting on bus stop almost 1h when I try to call them no one answer the phone

Giving 1 star because it doesnt allow…

Giving 1 star because it doesnt allow to give 0. Over an hour waiting for a bus. Called the information, no one new anything, apparently people are being paid the get their backsides warmed up by the office air conditioning and thats it. And since the buses never arrive on time, if they arrive at all, why not change the schedules? Or after years of the same problem no one decided to use their brain cells to fix such issue? Thank you for a recurring negative experience

I hate the kurwa buses only a little…

I hate the kurwa buses only a little amount of bus drivers are rude and yesterday the bus was supposed to be here at 15:20 but it came at 6 and thank god I walked home because it is so kurwa ridiculous the buses never come on time the inside is not really hygienic honestly and the costs. Don’t even get me started

I’ve lived in Thurrock for 20 plus…

I’ve lived in Thurrock for 20 plus years. The bus 83 and 73 going to lakeside are the worst ever!!!!! What is the point of bus times if none of the buses are on time. It’s so stupid! We need better bus services!!

At least the drivers are friendly.

The bus stop info boards are a work of fiction and bare no resemblance to any actual timetable. It's a convenient excuse for them to use London road traffic for not turning up or running late yet the first bus 100/200 doesn't appear to have this issue like the 73/83, I'm not really sure the purpose of the woman who sits at Grays counting the buses because if she is feeding back that the buses are late nothing is being done about it. More than once has a driver gone straight past the stop especially at Defoe Parade despite people being at the stop. With the fares likely to go up to £3 for a single in January 25 I've decided I'm better off driving and parking at the train station.

7.26 arrived 10 mins late.

Today the 7.26 arrived 10 mins late.
Once again no apology from the driver. These buses are the only option for many working people in this area. A simple sorry for the lengthy delay goes a long way.

Excellent company

Since they took over the running of local routes in 2006, I have found Ensignbus to be a friendly and helpful company. Routes local to me are almost always on time, with friendly drivers in the main. I can't say anything about fare prices, as I have a disabled person's bus pass, but I understand there have been increases lately - this is understandable with the cost of EVERYTHING going up, and I don't mind paying the odd fare on weekdays before 9am when my pass kicks in.

One star off as you do get the occasional rude driver, and I have had incidents where I have been unable to get to a seat before the bus has moved off (I have mobility issues and am liable to fall if this happens), but I have noticed that this has improved recently and drivers give you more time to sit down before moving away from the stop.

I wrote this review mainly to counteract the number of negative reviews, which generally seem to be about isolated incidents - my review is based on the service in general, which I have little complaint about. They are certainly worlds apart from the utterly miserable days of Arriva!

The customer service was super rude…

The customer service was super rude when I asked them when is the next bus as I so missed the bus and it was running very late. I was wondering if there’s a problem.
Buses are always Running late and people are super aggressive who are on calls. Bus system unhygienic and bus drivers are rude as well super disrespectful and harassing customers

Very bad service/ expensive pass

Very bad service. Always late for my work. 73/83 from the oak to lakeside never on time. Specially 88a to Stifford clays always late. Drivers are very rude and sometimes they dont stop even I waved and I was on stop, they just pass by. Bus monthly pass is also very expensive it’s £70 for 27 days and for remaining days of the month I’ve to buy day pass which is too expense. Very bad service.

Buses can be late for a number of reasons ranging from traffic issues (which happen a lot in Thurrock) to passenger issues. I can assure you that our drivers do not run intentionally late.

The 4 weekly bus pass covers *28* days. The cost of this gives a significant discount against buying Single tickets all of the time. As comparisons, a TfL monthly bus pass is £94.90. A 4 weekly one with another company in Medway is £78.

Worst company ever

1 start is not even fair to qualify, how terrible this company is. BUSES always running late and now the new expensive bus tickets, children pay the same as adults ... I am so done with this company. That i am ready to sign a petition to "delete" for good from our lives.

Best service all over essex

This bus service is amazing no matter how late or early they always are friendly, some of them do try to be happy but it's understandable considering the hours they work, the drivers are 100% guaranteed and i would always get any bus from Ensign. Thank you for your service driving around Essex

Frustrating schedule

The company's schedule is not taken seriously. The buses either remain at the station or don't arrive at all. I find it annoying that people are unable to plan any journey. The company's management is the poorest. It is impossible to forecast whether the next bus will be cancelled or not arrive.

Misleading information and impolite attitude of customer service representative

On Saturday, November 18, 2023, I was waiting at my bus stop for the Z1 bus. After waiting for about 8 minutes, I called the company to inquire. Customer service informed me that the bus driver had called in sick, so the bus was not running. Within two minutes of this conversation, the bus drove past me. All attempts to reach it were unsuccessful. When I called the company back, the same advisor answered. In spite of telling him what had just happened, he insisted the driver had called in sick and the bus was not running. While we were still talking, he hastily said bye and hung up. I reported the incident to the company, and after a thorough investigation, my complaint was upheld. The company sent their apology, and I was told that the customer service advisor had been advised accordingly on this matter.
