Similar to the contributor above

Similar to the contributor above, but in my case it was a card payment of £135 which somehow increased -- without my authority -- to £162 by the time it hit the bank.
The bank debit is carried out under a different name -- ERG Facilities Ltd -- and I failed to get any explanation for the charge (which you must pay up front in order even to speak to them). And no, it does not get credited to a plumber's bill.
Funny old world.
Do not touch with a disinfected ten foot barge pole, and certainly do NOT give them a bank card number. Despite the title, they are not themselves plumbers, but simply an opportunist and parasitic agency who calls up your local plumber -- which you can do yourself for free -- and presumably charges them as well.

RIP-OFF call out fee - don't use. Find a local plumber directly if you can

They appeared at top of google search results for an emergency plumber. We had woken to find that overnight a joint in our hot water pipes had broken and our bungalow hall was awash. Managed to stop the flow and called ERG as both being retired we wanted the water back on asap. They charge a minimum £175 +VAT, so to a consumer £210 for an initial one hour's work then extra. They won't attend before they take your card details to charge you. They promise a plumber there in 30-90 minutes for this. We got a call after waiting about an hour to say the plumber was held up and it would be 2+ hours before they got to us. So I said "no rush then", so I said i'm not prepared to pay the full £210 for emergency. They said ok and that it would be £145 +VAT (£174 to me), which I ok'd as I wanted fixed asap.
The local plumber they sent did a good job,and I would now go to directly in future. Talking with an old friend whose son is a plumber but unfortunately not local, asked his son how much for a call out like mine, and he told me £50 +VAT (£60 to me).
How can ERG-PLUMBER.CO.UK possibly justify such a percentage mark (350% on what a plumber would charge) up on £60? Total rip-off. Wonder how much they actually pay the plumber. Won't be a anywhere near £75 I guess! Glad I pushed for a reduction, but it still made them a huge profit.
Don't use these call out services unless really forced to, as a local tradesperson will charge you a fair price if you go straight to them.
