Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 72 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the claims process difficult, often requiring extensive, sometimes irrelevant, documentation and experiencing significant delays in responses and payments. Customers frequently reported poor customer service, citing an inability to speak with a claims handler, receiving generic replies, and facing outright claim denials without clear explanations. However, some customers also noted more positive outcomes. A few people experienced their claims being accepted quickly with prompt refunds. Others highlighted effective communication and support, including arrangements for complex medical evacuations and coverage for unexpected costs due to delayed flights.

Basically a scam!

Absolutely horrible and no way to get in contact with! Got a "flexible ticket insurance" when booking my flight. When i then had to change the date of flight i filed a claim. That has been 8 months ago, nobody contacted me and the online form is completely unresponsive... huge waste of money and in my opinion a scam!

Rude responses, and wrong emergency number on their policy documents

I took out a premium travel insurance product with Europ Assistance UAE. Unfortunately my wife was sick on the trip. I called the UAE emergency phone number on the policy 7 times and got no answer. I followed up with an email.

I got a response from the email which was unhelpful and off hand. They claimed to have tried to call me but I had no missed calls.

After subsequent emails (and to be fair they have been apologetic with the way that they have responded after i raised it), it transpires that the emergency phone number they have on their policy is wrong (!!).

In summary - poor communication practice, wrong number for emergencies does not build faith with this product. I wont be using them again.

Wish I'd read the reviews before buying…

Wish I'd read the reviews before buying this insurance when I rented a car on Expedia. Expedia should NOT be connecting people to this insurer. I was in the US and they only have a toll free number for Canada. Had a damaged tire due to metal in the road and they don't cover anything tire related no matter what the reason.

Scam company

This is a scam company. We didn’t request their car service after a car accident in Croatia. They showed up, took our car away and then demanded 200€ payment for the car release with all our luggages and travel documents inside. We reported them to the police who is now doing an investigation again their unlawful practices.

Same as everyone else - disaster company

Same as everyone else - worst worst company I’ve ever dealt with. They don’t review or read the uploaded documents properly and just stall and ask you to keep providing stuff. No-one really to speak to on phone - all claim handles hide behind emails. Completely incompetent company. I’ll be escalating to the ombassadmen as they have broken 3 crucial legal requirements.

Surprised they haven't been shutdown yet...

They try and look for everything and anything in order not to pay and only cover what they classify as urgent, got intense chest pain and took them 3 days to find "urgency" attention and then didn't cover for follow-up blood exams. I can't emphasize enough... Do not get this scam!

As an Amex customer their service

As an Amex customer their service, whil I spoke with a “ Monica “ to not mention her last name, was horrible, while I subscribed a service for a family member. Thankfully at the end I just contacted the french visa medical assistance customer care and they did great. But for my Amex membership it looks bad.

Use another insurance agency

Use another insurance agency! Extremely difficult to navigate the claim process, had to remind the company many times to reply. Took 8 weeks to receive my small refund. I had to laugh when they sent an email asking me to add my bank details but the instructions were in Spanish thank goodness for Google translate. They even said they would send a customer satisfaction survey but that was never received. I've never dealt with such a shoddy company. To be honest they felt crooked due to the hoops that you had to jump through to get the money. It would be easy to just forget the claim but I was determined to get my money back. I can't understand why Airbnb recommend them.

Interestingly I was contacted today by trust pilot to say the company had said I'd used another company and I needed to change my review. No it was Europ assistance dreadful wish I'd read the reviews before I booked with them but shame on airbnb for even using them.

Absolutely awful service

Absolutely awful service. They ask for the same documentation repeatedly even when you’ve given justification that you can’t provide those because of the context. They give you the same awful response with no consideration of the situation. Their channels of communication are awful. Company is an absolute scam and waste of time, would NOT recommend buying from them you might as well save your money and just go uninsured that’s how useful their service is!!

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless. I have this insurance with Platinum Amex and they never reply to messages, keep asking for the same documents to be uploaded. It's now nearly a month since my holiday was cancelled due to a death in my family. Not getting anywhere. I called them many times and they keep saying it's being dealt with. Amex you should go back to using Aviva its s much better.

Excellent service provided via AMEX Platinum UK

Hi used Europ Assistance via Amex Platinum in UK for the first time last week and the service was brilliant. I made a small damage in a car that I rented in Portugal, I completed the form, next day it was approved and in 2 days the money was in my account.

I should refer as well that this service was previously provided by AXA and it was awful: the forms online did not make any sense, they required useless information and it would take too long to pay. The form was so bad that I use to go online just to get the reference number and then I would send everything by email.

Really happy that now I have Europ Assistence. So far, so good!

Visa application was approved

I bought this insurance to meet visa requirements and it was accepted by the embassy. It's a minimum policy meant to cover the visa requirements and that's all I needed. Thank you.
