Music was excellent but avoid this venue at all costs

The musical entertainment was excellent however some of the staff are out of control and power crazy with little Supervision. Beware, try not to enjoy yourself otherwise you will find your arms forced up your back and thrown out into the street. Dancing is clearly not allowed. Don't try and complain about it either, same attitude. Awful experience, never again. Avoid at all costs.

Should be 0 rating but have to add…

Should be 0 rating but have to add something. Everyone should boycott this place until the current security is removed. During the performance of Moonlight someone was dragged out by 3 security for daring to stand in the aisle. When questioned they said he was trying to beat everybody up. I was only 3 rows away and didn't see any if that.
My wife was ejected fir standing in the aisle twice. The reasoning was because she was abusive. This is rubbish and when questioning security they've said it's all recorded and to ask the venue. I have, and nothing.

I understand at seated venues you can't stand in the aisle. But this is a thin lizzy story and had some thin lizzy originals. Of course people will dance. But security should have dealt with this better. Its clear tge security used have no training.
This isn't isolated to this event. Check other reviews that claim the same heavy handed experience.
If no reply I will next be contacting the council to investigate

The following is from the 1st paragraph of a critics review

"You don’t expect to see audience members dragged out of the theatre and security get booed for doing so. You don’t expect the audience to stand up and dance in protest"

Need I say more.

Deal with it apollo

WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF POSSIBLE

This place should be shut down. Paid £140 to see David Byrne. Worst experience EVER. This was a SEATED gig. They announced before the show started "FEEL FREE TO GET UP AND DANCE" I booked a seat specifically as I NEED a seat, so I was unable to see the performance due to everybody standing up in front of me. SEATED SHOULD MEAN SEATED. If they wanted people to stand up and dance they should've made this a STANDING gig. Also announced "KEEP PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A MINIMUM" which to my mind means you ARE allowed to video. However every time I tried to take photos the security were on me like vultures, being RUDE and AGGRESSIVE and TRYING TO GRAB MY PHONE OUT OF MY HAND!! I have NEVER had such treatment from security before. Needless to say my entire evening was ruined and I definitely will NEVER go to that horrendous venue again.

Would not return

Be very careful when booking tickets here,we accidentally brought standing tickets, which means standing up against the wall, very close to other people in the line up,basically in the walk ways, not allowed to move, sitted customers not realising and lining up behind us thinking we are waiting for the toilet, my partner left, we will not return to this venue, very unsafe ,staff inside venue very rude.

Beware of them

Beware of them! They don’t allow you to change the date (despite still having available spaces for future shows) if something unforseen suddenly comes up and you can no longer attend. It is very difficult to contact and speak to a person on the phone. The refund protection that you pay extra for at the checkout is a joke as it is handled by a third party with their own set of rules and requirements (which they do not tell you about at the checkout) e.g. signed and stamped doctor's form, death certificate, fire brigade or police reports e.t.c.

The problems persist

The last time I went to the Apollo was 20 years ago because its not a very good place to watch events/plays. I went to watch inside no.9. The play overall was a 4 star production. Enjoyed it a lot, however it was a poor choice to run the production at the Apollo. The theatre is too big for a stage play. I was in the upper circle and could not see the actors faces at all and the acoustics and sound was muted at times which spoiled the experience. There should have beeen large screens above or to the side of the stage to aid in the experience. However there was a an ingenious part of the play that used close up filming, this could have been expanded. You could also not see the hollogram messages projected from the circle so it meant only half the audience who could see them was laughing. The seats are shocking with no comfort and 3 days later my legs still hurt. How can you have standing in the stair areas. Which fire officer signed that off. ? The drinks are too expensive and the toilets had massive queues. I paid £139 for 2 tickets. It was not worth it but I get it that to put on a play at the Eventim Apollo is a financial decsion and not decsion to give the audience the best experieince. Shame.

Not Good - Inside Number 9

Saw Inside Number 9 with my daughter. Seats are incredibly tight, agony for my knees, seats so far away you couldn't really see the actors, toilets inadequate, long queues , and the show itself, despite being a big fan of LOG and IN9, was a joke (not in a good way, like a very bad pantomime), at the expense of the audience. A tenner for two diet cokes, just to complete the evening.

Hopeless view from circle row v

Sat in the circle row v. Absolutely hopeless view. So far away from the stage could hardly make out anything, also seats not stepped enough so person in front of me completely blocked my view. Waste of time and money.

As a buying experience this place is…

As a buying experience this place is not good. I’ve got two weeks until Trevor Noah and I am now unable to go, they won’t allow you to transfer tickets can’t resell on their resale site which they advertise as possible when you buy the tickets but then can’t be bothered to allow once you’ve bought them. If I had bought on ticketmaster I would be able to sell and transfer my tickets already - use other methods where available!

Great band, awful sound quality

3 Stars because whilst the venue and staff were great, the sound quality where we were sitting upstairs front part of the circle mid right hand side was awful. This was Saturday 25th October seeing Gregory Alan Isakov. Nothing to do with the musicianship as the stripped down encore sound proved but for the main part of the gig the sound from the right hand speakers were so poorly mixed and equalised that it was painful to listen to. Overpowering drums and bass, zero piano (left hand side of stage), muffled vocals and overall rubbish mix between bass, mids and treble. Suggest whoever is on the mixing desk goes around the place during the first few songs and actually listens to what's coming through the speakers. It would have probably sounded better if it was a rock/pop band but this excellent band isn't that. Seriously wouldn't go to the Apollo again because the sound really was that painful.... I've been to more than enough gigs & concerts over the years and Saturday night at the Appollo was up there with the worst sounding. Fantastic band all the same.

I would not recommend this venue.

Only giving one star, so that I can write a review. Being near the front, I had expected a reaonable view. Thanks to the person in front standing the whole way through, I had absolutely no view at all.
She ignored my requests to sit down when the rest of auditoreum was seated. At other times we were all on our feet! Spoke to three stewards and she was within her
rights! Having paid money for a good seat, thanks to their policy, I have none. Even a notice over the tannoy asking patrons to be considerate to others would have been something ! There is no mention in their Term and conditions about this 'policy'. In fact it is written that they have the right to remove anyone who is ruining the enjoyment of another. As expected, my emails, to date, have been ignored.

UPDATE. I have now received a response and it would appear that the only person who was standing, could have been asked to sit down, or even removed.

Either more miscommunication or lack of staff training.

In summary, paid a small fortune for a seat, bought almost a year in advance, only view I had was a selfish person's back! No support from any of the staff and had a miserable evening. They basically contravened their own terms and conditions! I shall neither return nor recommend this venue!

Lovely staff

Me and my little sister had such a lovely night. I am on crutches at the moment and the staff were so accommodating. Morgan, a member of staff, helped me up and down the stairs multiple times while my sisters hands were full :) thank you so much

Do NOT pay for the lounge upgrade

The upgrade lounge ticket promoted by Eventim is absolutely not worth it.
The supposed fast entry was nowhere to be found.
£50 for two got access to very difficult-to-find and tired-looking corporate room, short of chairs, and with a refusal to serve even one branded gin and tonic (I asked for the Sipsmith which was on open display). The barman would serve only the house gin. A complete rip-off. What extra would it have cost the venue to serve the gin I wanted? I looked it up: 9.7p at supermarket retail. Never again.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you…

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff at Eventim Appollo and give credit where it is due. I attended an event there a couple of days ago. It was an incredibly hot day and my partner had got us both tickets that were standing only as they were the only ones available at the time. I saw there was some chairs in a enclosed space on the side and as they seemed to be unoccupied, I sat down in one on them. I have difficulty standing for long due to back issues ad also have low blood pressure which had been made worse with the hot weather so knew I probably wouldn’t last very long standing up. Eventually, one of the members of staff, correctly doing her job, came and spoke to me saying that I couldn’t sit there as it was for people who had booked seating for access needs. I explained my situation and she said I could go and speak to a supervisor so I went outside, spoke to another member of staff on the door and was directed to a supervisor standing a few feet behind. She was very helpful and said if I went and spoke to the box office they may have some seating which had not been take. I spoke to a very helpful man in the box office, explained my situation and he, without any fuss, spoke to his colleague and gave me 2 complimentary tickets for seating upstairs. I was able to enjoy the event comfortably and was very impressed with the service so well done to all involved. I don’t usually leave reviews but this one is well deserved.

Daytime show to see "Shen Yun"

Daytime show to see "Shen Yun" - Great performances from the dancers, the singers, the Orchestra and staff friendly and helpful.

My only gripe is with the venue and the chairs. Why oh why put them in lines behind each other. Why not stagger them so you can see through to the stage rather than the back of someones head!

Great performances by the cast etc - crappy seating arangement at the venue, Please Change!

This place gets worse and worse

This is an amazing venue that is absolutely ruined by Eventim. It was bad enough having to deal with them for tickets. Then they added £1 non-refundable cup charges, with some awful non-sensical excuse about plastic waste. Now you cannot enter the venue without downloading their (awful!) app. I really wish bands would avoid this venue, it leaves a bitter taste every time I HAVE to go to see one of my favourite artists. I would avoid if I could.

Deplorable Customer Services …disgusted20 October

Paid good money for seats ( row cc ) to watch Alice Cooper. Who came on stage 21.15 hrs . Despite doors opening at 18.30hrs . I and my companion are disabled . The Audience Stood when the main attraction started. And remained standing for each and every song. We ( being disabled ) spent an hour looking at the backs of the people standing . It was a horrible experience for us both. Our complaints landed on deaf ears . Upon emailing the ticket vendor & eventime Appollo . Again our concerns went unheard and both vendor and theatre staff passed the buck between eachother .
If you are disabled. My advice is "Not to attend this venue" Deplorable customer services who have no insight to the needs of the disabled attendees
