Excellent service

Excellent service. Highly recommend this company. We moved from UK to Australia Feb 2017 and after much research we found Excess International Movers to be the most compatible , although I had to pack my own stuff they provided all packing materials for free. We shipped 42 boxes in total everything arrived in perfect condition including our crystal whisky glasses and extra large wine glasses. Nick Gjura was a pleasure to deal with and very professional throughout the entire process. I have recommended him to all our friends who plan to move back to Australia from London. Thank you and will definitely use you guys again.

A move made easy...

Nick from excess international made my 2 weeks of crazy packing a whole lot easier by providing me with extra boxes and bubble wrap since I ran out. He talked me through the different options of how to send my boxes, what the value would cost if I took large picture frames and how much each box would cost. He was very professional, knew his information and his customer service was on point!

I honestly would definitely recommend working with this company as they have made my move a lot easier then I had imagined and moving countries is something else!!!! Thank you so much Nick is working with me and sorry for all the questions and emails!

Economical and professional

I did a lot of research and this company appeared to be the most economical but then I was also surprised to find their customer service and patience with changing plans to be exemplary. Dwayne Dyal took care of every concern or complication and as someone who lives between three different countries I will be sure to use them again.

Great Experince.

We have had a great experience with Excess International so far. The booking process was easy and the terms were clearly explained resulting in no surprises on the day of our pack. The removal guys were very friendly and I was very impressed with the care taken to pack our goods and bubble wrap items that couldn't be boxed. We are excited to see our goods arrive and have no doubt they will be as pristine as the day they were packed.

AVOID AVOID AVOID!

I organised shipping of 4 suitcases from the US to the UK which was meant to take 7 days and after all their mistakes took 4 weeks.
Firstly, they failed to pick up on some information I accidentally missed on the shipping forms they gave me.
Secondly, they failed to deal with the fact that the value of my goods meant I needed a tax ID in the US. This meant that after my goods were collected, they were sent back to where they were collected from a week later as Excess could not provide them with this.
They had to make changes to my forms to arrange another collection. They then forgot to give the new forms to DHL. The cases were almost sent back. Again! I had to send them to DHL myself after DHL contacted me directly a number of times. The lack of communication between Excess & DHL was embarrassing.
The cases were eventually shipped to the UK and then waited in a warehouse in the UK for a week before making it to me. Excess stopped communication with me completely. I eventually got a call from DHL saying they needed further information which I had already provided to Excess and they had failed to pass on.
They gave me no refund for all their mistakes and complete lack of organisation. Avoid at all costs!

Irreplaceable items lost by Excess International – please read before choosing this company

I used this company to move to Australia from London in July 2016. Note I am still in contact with them now and it is April 2017.
Initially there were apparently 3 boxes missing. I had to continually chase them in order for them to follow up. Initially as the missing boxes were not insured I was simply offered £40 per box as compensation. I had insured other items but not the entire consignment. After rejecting this offer and asking them to conduct a search then the 3 boxes were found. Unfortunately there was a box still missing. The box has over £1000 worth of clothes including my wedding suit which I paid £550. This item is something that I can replace and has great sentimental value. I subsequently received a letter stating that they have no liability for my loss and that will offer me £40 by way of compensation. I have had to chase and chase and if I had not chased then I doubt that I would have received the 3 boxes that had been missing. The impression I had was that they were lost and that the best they could do is give me £40 per box.
I cannot recommend a company that has lost my property and that does not offer appropriate compensation. If they are not liable for my loss then who is?
I will continue to chase this company for a resolution and I will review the outcome.

Reply from Excess International Movers

Dear Sir,

As per our final viewpoint letter, we am sorry to learn that you remain dissatisfied with our response to the reported missing box following your shipment to Sydney.

Having thoroughly reviewed the shipment documentation and considered all correspondence received to date, I understand your specific complaints can be summarised as follows;

1. You are unhappy that we are unable to explain the loss of these items.
2. That we have declined liability for the loss.

Based on the evidence available to me, our responses to each of these complaints are as follows:
1. You are unhappy that we are unable to explain the loss of this item.
Your consignment was delivered in Sydney on 14th November 2016. The inventory confirms that the consignment consisted of 141 items. The delivery team ticked 138 items confirming 3 boxes (a box of tools, a box of toys and a box of clothes) were not part of the consignment. The loss was reported on 22nd November 2016. The boxes are not insubstantial objects that could be easily missed. As soon as the loss was reported we asked our Australian delivery agents to instigate a thorough search of their Sydney warehouse. The initial and subsequent searches of this facility have failed to find the missing boxes. Items have however been found in the other consignment that was sharing the container shipped. The boxes have been delivered on 20th December 2016 and all relevant paperwork has been signed, confirming items have been received.

2. That we have declined liability for the loss.
You will recall that when you completed the acceptance form on 1st July 2016 you agreed amongst other things that the services we provided would be subject to our terms and conditions of business. The terms state that all claims must be reported within seven days of delivery. The loss was reported on 23rd March, 93 days after the second delivery. The delay in reporting the loss would have significantly prejudiced any meaningful searches or enquiries which could have been made at the time. Furthermore the items have not been covered by our marine insurance. Our liability under the removal contract would be limited to £40 in accordance with our contractual limits of liability.

As also mentioned within our letter, you can approach the appropriate ombudsman in reflection of this and will give them our full support in investigating this on your behalf. Please also note that your comments regarding social media and the fact that you state you’ll be posting reviews periodically on websites in order for you to receive a fair offer of compensation has been noted and will not affect our stance.

This represents the final viewpoint of Excess International Movers. I hope that I have been able to resolve the matter to your satisfaction. If, however, you remain dissatisfied, you have the right to refer your complaint to The Property Ombudsman as directed in our letter dated the 14th of April 2017.

Kind regards

£5000 Guitar Completely Destroyed

We shipped my £5000 classic guitar via air freight and it arrived with an extra hole in it. The entire back is coming away from the base. Very disappointing, as this was my most prized possession.

Satisfied customer

Our shipped boxes of household goods from Hong Kong were delivered to our Manchester house this morning. Everything went smoothly and the delivery crew performed extremely well; with the task efficiently completed in lest than half an hour. I write to express our thanks to Excess International Movers for their help in managing the UK end of the delivery process. It has been a pleasure dealing with your company. Communications had been excellent with every stage of the shipping and delivery process being professionally handled and smoothly conducted. We thank you for this.

Exceptional.

Everyone I dealt with knew exactly what they were doing! Normally, I don't like an online chat when dealing with a company, but Morgane was so obviously knowledgeable, I had no mistrust at all. The three men who came to the flat to pack up the goods to be shipped did a very thorough job & I have no fear that anything will arrived damaged. Thank you!

Worst moving company ever, gutted at the loss

We spent almost 2000 pounds on sending some personal effects, photos, videos of our children, mementoes and toys, from London to Uganda. On arrival, 6 out of 8 of our boxes were completely damaged, ripped and water-logged. Items of much sentimental value were lost and many other items were broken. After complaining to Excess international and sending them photos as they requested, of the damage, we received the heart-breaking news that as we had no insurance, it was not their problem. All those loved items, which to be honest had little monetary value, lost and they could not care less. The irony is, we had asked about buying additional insurance, as our organization was happy to pay, but the advisor said the basic insurance was already included. So we didn't bother to pay more. Would it have made any difference? I don't think so. The careless, brutal way our boxes were treated suggests a very unprofessional service. Also, the promise that the boxes would be grouped into one package was nonsense. The detailed itinerary of our boxes included a number of trips to Europe (Germany and Amsterdam), back to Heathrow, then to the Midlands, and finally 7 boxes of 8 arrived in Uganda. Clearly not in one package. Our family is devastated by the loss, and absolutely nothing done to compensate us by Excess International. Beware. DO NOT USE this company.
