I have been buying components from RS…
I have been buying components from RS in its many incarnations for over 60 years. I have had a trade account with them for about 45 years.
Yesterday I was collecting their invoices to make a payment and I had to go their web site to retrieve two missing invoices.
Today, I got a threatening letter (below) regarding previous requests to settle payments printed in RED.
**********************************
Dear Customer,
As we’ve not received a sufficient response to our previous requests to settle payment, your account is now being considered for further action.
What could this mean for your account with RS?
• Although a last resort, you could lose your credit facility, jeopardising access to the products and services currently available to your company.
• Legal action, if necessary, will involve you in additional costs, compensation, and interest charges-
* Compensation as an estimate of administrative and other wasted costs incurred by RS calculated as follows: £40 for outstanding sums up to £999.99; £70 for outstanding sums between £1,000 and £9,999.99; and £100 for outstanding sums of £10,000 or more
*Interest charges - interest is payable on the debt that exceeds our terms of trading, at a rate of 8% above the prevailing HSBC PLC base rate of 0.5%
• Credit facilities, if reinstated, would be less flexible than you might have previously enjoyed
******************************************
As far as I can tell there is one invoice dated July 31 2025 that is almost one calendar month old.
Their response is stupid, heavy handed and quite frankly very bizzare. Also, I would challenge some of their claims regarding a 'sufficient response'.
Regards,
Tim Orr
