Be Aware: E-ZPass is Stealing Your Money

This company is in the business of stealing your money. I closed my account and returned the tag exactly as instructed. Despite confirming receipt of the tag, they still deducted a $16 “device fee” before returning my remaining account balance. After spending a significant amount of time on the phone and going through several inconvenient steps, I was told that no refund would be issued because the account was already closed, even though the tag had been received. This is clearly an internal process failure and should not be my responsibility. Having fully complied with their return requirements, I should not be charged for the device (and return shipping on top of that). To make matters worse, the customer service agents were consistently rude, poorly informed, and dismissive, which only added to the frustration.

Awful & Scammy

Awful, just get a Uni-Pass. I’ll never return to EZ pass with all their scammy fees.

*Update- unipass is a scam too, you need an EZPass account for it! Ridiculous— just go back to keeping change in your car if you don’t want their scammy fees much like myself.

Atrocious experience

Atrocious experience. Impossible to speak with a person, they have a VRU driven front end. Website is outdated and impossible to navigate. Login experience and ability to reset a password or pin is impossible. Their old customer number has been hijacked by a scammer. Completely apathetic business and a horror to deal with

SCAM !!

SCAM !!! It will take your money away applying the highest fee possible. I have account in NY, (prepaid) I didn't now it only works in the state I opened the account. So it didn't work when entering in NJ, when returned I took a ticket. Their website doesn't allow to pay it. It requires a payment request send by mail. Never received. No live agent in the customer service line NEVER.
So I couldn't pay. 4 months after received a text from collection services. Charged me $111 for 2 violations. The agent said my address was incorrect, I asked how that can happen? No answer. I moved almost 2
Years ago, I changed address in my car registration and in my driving license. And when I opened the EZ pass account I was already living in my new place, how could be possible that their system shows the old address? I have read many other reviews with similar issues. They make impossible to pay online, seems to be on purpose.

Absolutely the worst service I've…

Absolutely the worst service I've experienced in ages. I had one request to confirm with a representative regarding my EZPass device, and I waited over an hour to speak to someone... only to have the woman who answered the phone get snippy and flippant. The offensive and arrogant tone was unnecessary and unprofessional. Shame on them for running a business like that. Less than two minutes on the phone after an hour+ wait and was treated poorly. Disgraceful.

WARNING for Autopay Customers

If you are signed up for Autopay, E-ZPass will rob you! When I signed up I set my monthly balance as $160. I only need $144 monthly for my purposes. The E-ZPass system periodically undergoes a review in which it will increase users balances automatically based on an "average". So the $160 that I planned for has automatically been increased to $220 (monthly) which caused my bank account to be overdrawn. This effectively costs me more money since I now have to bring my account back in to good standing. Do yourself a favor and just pay with cash at the toll booth! Oh did I mention, that you CAN'T go back and revert it to the original amount?

HEY E-ZPass!!! If you are going to impose automatic increases YOUR USERS SHOULD BE INFORMED OF THE INCREASE!!! AND given the opportunity to keep it the way it is set.

Failure on all fronts.

Impossible to get on the phone to correct mistakes they themselves are making in ACH accounts. Abysmal website with outdated and inaccurate instructions leading to wasted time and efforts.
Registration for license plate and tags leads to mass confusion with rental companies and no process to fix it. Customer aka my company ends up paying 11x the toll rate in completely unnecessary admin fees and duplicative charges. Lastly, they have scam artist employees selling $9 tags for $99 and taking cc over the phone to pocket $90 profit per tag.
Fire them all. Start over.

My family and I travelled to New Jersey…

My family and I travelled to New Jersey back in November. To the best of our recollection, we paid all tolls going and coming. My cousin received a toll violation in the mail for $10.50 and an ADMINISTRATIVE FEE of $50.00! How is the world are they allowed by law to charge a fee 4x more than the actual toll. Tried calling, tried using he website and nothing! This is USURIOUS and borders on criminal! Because it's in my cousin's name I am going to send them a $10.50 money order for the actual toll and they can kiss what the good lord gave me for the "Administrative fee". Someone needs to look into this and surly you find that it's illegal to do this. I hate New Jersey now!

They charge a $50 administration fee…

They charge a $50 administration fee for each toll even though they send multiple tolls bills in the same letter. Most states charge a $2 administration fee. I tried calling them to discuss it and was treated very rudely. I asked to speak to the manager and was told one is not available. I would like to sue this organization for the way I was treated. I have the recording of the calls. If you are a legal professional and can help, please contact smarq2 at yahoo com.
