Seems to me this FakeSpot analyzer is simply bogus. Just take a look - 2 identical earbuds, one is in black and rated 'F', and another one in white rated 'B'. Both earbuds have same 207 reviews. See... See more

How this company uses Trustpilot

Lots of false positives
It's okay. The intention behind it is great but there's too many false positives for it to be useful. I prefer ReviewMeta, which I found to be more accurate. Plus, they're transparent with how they rate the validity of the review, whereas Fakespot is not.
Fakespot has helped me a lot
I've gotten burned so many times buying products with high reviews on sites like Amazon.
I use this site religiously nowadays before purchasing products on sites like Amazon and Walmart. I also think the store rating is extremely helpful. I've also gotten burned buying stuff from sketchy stores.
I know a lot of sellers here are complaining that they are erroneously given low ratings, but I can say that for myself - Once I started using Fakespot a lot, I've had nearly zero product issues. It's been nearly 10 years since I've been using Fakespot, and I don't think I've had issues on more than literally a handful of products. I also order tons and tons of stuff on sites for myself, my family, and our business.
I make sure that what I buy have both high ratings on the store AND high ratings on Fakespot. I highly recommend Fakespot.

This plugin is defaming our site for no reason. have tried to contact twice with no response. No doubt they'll probably ask to contact them after this review. not going to bother this tool is misleading in the extreme. One simple provable FACT it is misleading states that our site has limited history - here's a direct copy paste of websites creation date - Creation Date: 2007-02-16T23:12:12Z - if that is limited history then only dinosaurs can rate highly on this tool.
Disappointing Experience: Mislabeling All Products as Scams
I had a particularly disappointing encounter with this tool when I found it tagging everything as a scam. I had been using it for some time before I ran across a product I knew to be reputable, only for this tool to mark it as a scam. This event significantly undermined my trust in the tool's reliability.
The concept behind this site is commendable and I appreciate the efforts to guard against scams. However, erroneously labeling all products as scams is just as harmful as dealing with fake reviews. It creates an atmosphere of distrust and makes it challenging for genuine products to gain the recognition they deserve.
I hope the developers will address this issue promptly, ensuring a balanced and accurate evaluation of products in the future. My best regards to the team working behind the scenes.

Flagged Our Website
My husband has a shopify store that has been in business since 2014. Fakespot flags it as a potential scam because of having a "short Internet history." This made me start to question the app and I have found countless negative reviews. So what are they really up to?
Who's checking the checkers?
I've seen situations where when they've "removed" the fake reviews, it lowers the rating of the product lower than what should be possible mathematically by the removal of those % of reviews. My experience seems to coincide with others who do not know why they are being flagged for having many fake reviews. The problem is that there is no transparency in their metrics, so you just have to "trust" them. That means it is impossible to corroborate their results.
There are lots of upset sellers…
There are lots of upset sellers reviewing fakespot because they've been found out for paying people to review their products with 5 star reviews. Shame on them is all I can say. Fakespot looks for repeat phrases used by reviewers to review multiple products by the same seller to determine that it's a fake review. Just because someone has a verified purchase doesn't mean they weren't paid for the review. I trust fakespot to do the hard work for me.
Can't rely on it at all
Dont Know what to make of this, I have it for ebay and just now a 100% good feedback seller got fakespot Warning. For Gawds sake how can that be? I dont remember how I came across this Fakespot, to install it on ebay. So I will ignore it from now on and look at the feedback myself, which I do anyway since Fakespot is giving some sellers with only 95% feed back no warning, a seller rating I wouldnt buy from. I cant trust this is a good thing to rely on at all.
Fakespot is terrible
Fakespot is terrible! I am an Amazon seller, and I 100% know that all my reviews are legit. Verified buyers. I also own a website and Etsy, and consistently get 5 star reviews. Fakespot is giving me Fs and Ds on these 4 and 5 star REAL reviewed products. Don't trust it...ever.
Their results are not true.
Fakespot are stating that 90%of my Amazon product reviews are fake!! I don't know how this could have such a ridiculous score as Amazon would have shut the listing down if this were the case.
The vast majority of reviews are from "Verified Purchase" buyers.
Making companies look bad for no reason. Ridiculous!
Bad data on fake spot.
This actually happened in December 2022 but it was consistent behavior at that time.
I have a seller on ebay that I have bought from several times, and it is my impression that they are a very responsible business. (Africa Direct, if anyone cares to look). Fakespot said they had many reviews mentioning "scam" or "fake tracking number" or questioning authenticity. I don't believe that about Africa Direct. I wrote a letter to fakespot at the time, and never heard from them.
This website is so unreliable
This website is so unreliable. I tried to check a couple of products on Amazon and the links redirected me to a blank unlisted product.
The technology just isn't there
I appreciate them creating an algorithm like this as an experiment but simply put, the technology just isn't good enough as a genuine tool, and shouldn't be advertised as such. It's seemingly random in what it categorises, which is honestly kind of terrible considering how far advances in AI technology have gotten recently. And, probably the most baffling thing about this tool, what is the point of an AI that's supposed to pick up on human behaviour, when it's the one thing AI's can never really do? It's like making an AI to solve "are you a robot?" tests that take a person 2 seconds to figure out.
Completely Wrong Grade
I've used Fakespot for a couple of years now to avoid purchasing products with fake reviews and I regret it. I became an Amazon Seller a few months ago. I sell one product with four variations. The product has all legitimate reviews. Each review is marked by Amazon with either 'Varified Purchase' or 'Vine Customer Review of Free Product'. My product's Amazon rating is 4 stars but my Fakespot grade is F. When I analyzed my product's reviews on the Fakespot website, the review that it labeled Least Authentic Review starts with "You can see my before and after pictures...". So the Fakespot algorithm said that a review which INCLUDES PHOTOS is the least authentic review! Wow! I had no idea until I became an Amazon Seller and saw that Fakespot F grade for my product that the tool is completely useless. Also, from what I've learned, Amazon at some point in the past cracked down on fake reviews on the platform and systematically purges the site of them often.
would not trust them - Fake Company
their algorithm for determining what is and is not a fake review is messed up!!
so many items you give a d and f rating are good items
and defective bad items you give A ratings
you must be paid by company's

Fakespot is the BIGGEST FAKE AND FRAUD OF THEM ALL!! Their algorithm for however they randomly determine "real reviews" is soooo off. No wonder why they have so many complaints against them. They hurt so many honest small businesses with their absurd grading method.
