I am sailing.

The return crossing was ever so simple to book and very helpful information about the crossings. I would it this way over and over again.

Could be simpler

The booking process is unduly complicated, e.g. putting in a time when there is only one ferry a day and you have no choice.
Charging 2.5% for processing a debit or credit card is now illegal and I demand that these extra charges are refunded to me for this and the previous ferry booking I made. I have already made representation to Which, the consumers association on this.

Very easy to book with

Very easy to book with but making a date change on a booking to the day before the cost was not what was mentioned on the website and was 54 pound to change it. wont be booking through ferries.co.uk again as a friend booked direct and was able to make changes at no cost.

Easy peasy !!

A very useful site which shows all the options with all the carriers.

Only comment would be that the set up of a userid and password for a new user was a bit confusing...

Geat Ferry Service - Very Poor Customer Service

I was forced to change my return trip as my Father was unwell, I rang customer services and was advised of a £10 charge over the phone at that time, and that a £20 charge at the port, extortionate but accepted. I was then forced to reschedule again and again advised of a £10 charge over the phone, no mention was made of any additional charge which I assume was because the system showed that I already had to pay £20 for my previous reschedule.
Imagine my complete surprise when confronted with a £40 bill at Dover. I questioned why £40 not £20 as advised. "You changed the return TWICE" and we charge for you NOT TO SAIL as well as SAIL????????
How illogical is that?, I accept that a £20 "ADMIN" charge at the port is probably part of the T's&C's but how can it be charged twice!!! A Port ADMIN charge when you don't attend the port...............................
Needless to say I will be returning to P&O for my future crossings.
I tried another ferry company but it left the most appalling taste in my mouth.
Its true that you get what you pay for in life!!

straight forward and hassle free

A new company to us and we found identifying suitable time slots and suitable ferries was very easy. No hassle all very straight forward. No having to wade through lots of unnecessary waffle. Just a simple straightforward procedure that allows you to book. Just need to see if the product matches the booking. We hope so.

Not a good experience trying to board the ship ! ! !

We arrived early as not sure what to expect and got our boarding tickets without any problems but after that it seemed to be a shambles of cars, vans, camper vans, small boats and no body seeming to direct people. After waiting nearly an hour we were allowed to go through to a holding area with all the other vehicles and we stayed there with officials going backwards and forwards getting bad tempered with each other and nobody telling clients anything. Port authority arrived to see what the holdup was as it was becoming very obvious that we were not getting on the ship in time for the ship to sail on time. We were almost the last car to go on board and the ship sailed one and a half hours late (18.30.)Absolutely disgraceful that we were held from 15.30pm till 18.30pm with no explanation or apology and no apology on the ship either. So much for good customer service (or severe lack of it ! ! ) Will never use your company again and will warn others.

Hi Ann,

Thank you for your review. We were sorry to learn you were unhappy with the amount charged when you recently amended your booking.

In looking at the notes, we can see you originally booked your dates of travel incorrectly online and contacted us to amend them. You were charged £100 for this change which was made up of a £10 amendment fee from Direct Ferries and a £90 increase in fare from Stena Line.

The dates you originally booked were a lot cheaper than those you changed to and so the amount charged was correct.

You would also have been charged this increase in fare had you have booked directly with Stena Line.

Kind regards,

Ferries.co.uk support team
