DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH 1ST PROGRESS

DO NOT under any circumstances give First Progress a deposit for a secured credit card. Not sure how the FDIC allows them to stay in business. Customer Service sounds like the Phillipines or Malaysia. I was refered to this CC Bank by a slick Credit Repair company during COVID, and it's been a nightmare ever since. they reported late payment on the Annual CC fee because they sent the statement to the wrong address, and I had to dispute the late pmt with all 3 Bureaus twice! It's been 4 years now, and in June the account was hacked online, a fraudulent pmt was made through my checking account saved with FP, and Uber charges from Amsterdam were made on the account, without ever possessing the card. Nightmare of 2 months trying to reverse the charges and get my refund of my deposit.

DO NOT USE! Total scammers that steal your money! Would give ZERO stars if it was an option.

There were 2 charges from a company called "Happiness" on my card that I didn't make for $199.65 on 06.03.25. I called First Progress and disputed these charges, they escalated it to fraud and told me I would receive a letter regarding their decision. The letter came on June 17th stating these charges were deemed fraudulent, I was not responsible for payment, and that my account has been closed. June 24th, First Progress started sending me payment reminders that I have a balance due of $199.65. I called again, and explained to them that I received a letter saying these disputed charges were found to be fraudulent and I was not responsible, to please remove them from my balance, I was not paying for it, and my account was supposed to be closed. They told me to download the claim dispute form on their site, fill it out and return to the fax # provided with the received letter from the fraud department and provide a reason why I don't feel I am responsible for these charges. I did all requested and faxed on 06.25.25.
It is now 07.18.25, First Progress is now racking up late fees for this unpaid balance which I have been told I am not responsible for, the charges have never been removed, and my account is still active and "past due". I have called again, was transferred to 4 different people / departments, last was the front house fraud department, and I was told that they do not see any of the faxes or dispute files sent because that goes to the back house of the fraud department, that she would expedite my dispute claim, and I would be receiving a letter about their decision in about 2 weeks (Again)!
I have been getting the run around for over a month now, all people / departments are passing the buck on my calls and complaints, nobody knows anything about anything, but racking late fees and expecting me to pay. One agent even suggested I pay the full amount and that they would "at no problem" refund me my $ after the fraud department finished their case and made a decision; Mind you it's a decision that was already made on June 17th by the fraud department. This company needs to be deeply investigated, reported as SCAM and shut down!!

First Progress is Fraudulent

I observed fraudulent transactions made on my account on 04-21-25 and 04-22-25. I reported the unauthorized transactions on 04-28-25. 3 weeks later I receive a letter from First Progress stating they consider the transactions authorized because they were made with in a prescribed radius of where I lived despite me telling them I don’t have possession of my card.
I contacted them about the decision to appeal it. At this point they will no longer speak to you and direct you to a generic email of info at First Progress to dispute the claim. At this point I filed a police report, filed a complaint with CFPB and the Texas Attorney General against First Progress.
I then sent GPS locations from my vehicle during the dates and times the unauthorized transactions took place to include information on the locations to prove I was not near those locations during those times. I called First Progress for updates over the month only to be told there is no further information.
On May 22nd I get an alert that my credit score dropped by 23 points. I find out that now First Progress is reporting I have two cards with them at 100% utilization. I called them again but they couldn’t explain the multiple accounts and still no resolution to the fraudulent transactions.
I sent several follow up emails to info at First Progress over the month of June asking for updates with no response.
I log in to my account and noticed they gave credit, then took it way, gave credit again 3 days later then took it away. I called again asking why did they do that twice only to put all the charges back on my card. Of course I get the deer in the headlights response of we are not sure. I’m then transferred to another person that I spent 39 minutes on the phone struggling to understand what they were saying as their English speaking skills were elementary at best. They then tell me that I was found not liable for the charges back on 06-11-25 and they are typically removed in 24 to 48 hours. Well it’s 120 hours later so why are the charges still there. No one had an answer.
1 week later I see the charges removed but now $7.53 in interest on an account that had a zero balance. I call them and spend another 28 minutes on the phone to get it removed.
It’s now a week later and still not removed.
I check my credit report and now First Progress is reporting 3 cards at 100% utilization which is false again dropping my credit score an additional 23 points.
Here we are 2 months later, 9 follow up emails with no response, 7 calls totaling 156 minutes and in worse condition because of fraudulent activity at First Progress with false reporting and delays in retaliation of my dispute.
Anyone in the same situation feel free to visit their headquarters and see how they would like a face to face instead of hiding behind a phone and PO Boxes.

First Progress sucks

First Progress sucks. First they made hard to access/ verify your account when they switched over to their new website. That caused me to be late on my annual charge. Then they want to get mad when you want to cancel the account. They will also steal your security deposit. They said they sent it back to me, lies!!!! It's been almost two months.

They are the worst credit card company…

They are the worst credit card company ever. Nobody knows what's going on over there. Everybody's lost. There's no customer support because nobody knows anything. They all tell you the same thing. They're sorry and we're escalating your situation while nothing is really being done. And then they refuse to pay back my money because all they keep doing. It's telling me they're escalating my situation. It's been five months and I still haven't received my money

THEY ARE NOT BBB ACCREDITED. Beware!

They made it difficult for me to re-register one of my cards after they changed their website and app (myccpay.com), which I find suspicious since it's now just a payment portal. The previous website at least mentioned First Progress and was an actual website with images. The customer support is clearly outsourced. They didn't know how to help me and kept apologizing without providing actual assistance. They had no understanding or empathy regarding the issues cardholders face, and their indifferent tone was highly irritating as if I were talking to a wall. It's evident they are reading from a script and not genuinely listening to customers' concerns. Five representatives hung up on me five times, and never tried to call back; one of them told me to wait 24 hours to re-register because my account would be blocked. But when I called back, another representative told me I could try to register again at that moment. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor, and the supervisor also hung up on me mid-sentence. Keep in mind: I'm only trying to register these cards because the yearly fee is approaching, and I want to pay them on time without any issues, and all of this is happening. If I had waited closer to the due date, they could have jeopardized my credit by reporting a missed payment because they would not have cared to help me simply register my card. Also, I now have to use two different login credentials to access the two cards separately, which the app doesn't recognize, so I can only make payments using a computer to log in and out between accounts. I was able to see both my cards on the older First Progress website. I don't know why there was a regression to this antiquated system that is not user-friendly at all and it seems they do this on purpose to charge people late fees traps. The cards are cheaply made, the numbers fade by a gentle touch and you can see the silver dust come right off, the cards don't have chips either. EVERYTHING IS A SCAM with these people. I reported them to the BBB and they have a different name and address & they're not BBB accredited.

Negative Customer Service from a Disreputable company

I obtained a First Progress card in 2018 as one element in a strategy to improve my credit score. I no longer need, or use, the card and have cancelled my account (July 1, 2024). The user agreement specifies a ten week delay until the security deposit is returned. I phoned First Progress and was advised that expedited return is available upon submission of a letter or a fax. I have followed the procedure but the company is ignoring my request. On a follow-up phone call, I was referred to the ten week policy. I have submitted 6 requests by fax but the company is silent.

This is a disreputable and anti customer centric organization.

This credit card company and people…

This credit card company and people working for this company is scamming. Please don’t do business with them. They tried to trick customers in order to charge a late fee on their monthly statement. I hope those with bad experiences write complaints to credit bureaus for I am. Representatives not knowledgeable and manager do not care.

I recently discovered a negative mark…

I recently discovered a negative mark on my credit report from this bank, and I have no idea how I ended up on their list. I don't even know where this bank is located as there's no clear address provided. For anyone considering getting a card from this bank, I strongly advise you to be cautious. Their practices are questionable, and dealing with them has been a frustrating experience. Be aware and protect your credit.

This company is CRAP

This company is CRAP! Their customer services is horrible. I spoke to a "supervisor" named Johnathan from San Diego on 01/03/2024 at 6:04 PM (who REFUSED to provide me with his employee ID number and REFUSED to take my money). I live on a mountain with limited internet and was trying to reset my password to make a payment online. He said it would take over 24 hours for a link to be sent to my email and that if I was not paying the FULL balance of my credit card ($ 326.96) he would not waive the
$ 10.00 processing fee. He was rude, disrespectful and had a negative tone in his voice. I was trying to diligently make a payment and he REFUSED to accept revenue for his company. BAD and RUDE. I will be calling corporate in the morning and will be taking up over $ 10.00 of their wages in time. Thanks alot for wasting my time tonight Johnathan. So now due to Johnathan's shortcomings, I will be on the phone with a supervisor using up their wages. Bad business ALL around!

Dont trust these people

They people stolen my money and dont help on the phone.

I'm trying to build credit and FirstProgress charged me for a credit application $29.95.

They sent an email asking for me to upload documents on their site, but the site doesn't work. The phone number for help cannot deal with applications at all, they have no ability to help.

They said to post the info. I post the info and got no response.

I called several more times and was told to just send more letters. I sent another letter and got no response.

The application status page says "We are unable to provide you with additional information about your application at this time. Please contact 1-888-403-4783 if you need assistance."

I've spoken with them and they cant help or do anything. At this point they have charged me $29.95 for an application and are now ignoring all correspondents from me.

They have stolen my money. Also the $29.95 was to get a fast application. I already have a credit card with other people now as this prosess has been going on for weeks and weeks

Stay Away! Worst Card and Worst Customer Service

If I could leave a negative 5 I would. This credit card company is the absolute worst, I only opened it because I had bad credit due to fraud. You cannot set up autopay, they charge you to pay over the phone, you can't get a missed payment removed off your credit report for a bill they never sent me even though I have not used the card in three years because they haven't sent me a new credit card in three years despite me calling and asking regularly.

Didn’t even last a year

I got this thing back in early January because I needed a credit card to start building credit. Right off the bat, I wish I had done more research on it when I saw the “ad,” on Experian because I extremely dislike how this company is stuck in the fudging Stone Age. You can’t pay for the credit card bills online. You either have to pay by phone, which is a $10 charge for it to be wired through quickly on a same day basis, or you have to use your banking app in order to send “money orders,” to the company on a programmable basis. I ended up getting another credit card shortly after and they offer online pay. Something I wish that FP had. I also hate how in order to cancel it and ask for an expedited proceeds to get your security deposit back quicker, you have to LITERALLY SEND THEM A LETTER. WHAT. IN. THE. 1970’s FUDGE?! That issue could literally be solved if they had an email system set up. But a letter?! A fudging letter?! Seriously??? That honestly pissed me off originally when I first read about it on the website. A simple letter or phone call stating the intent could solve that issue in a heartbeat. I ended up cancelling in September of 2021. Another thing I dislike about the credit card is the $200 security deposit and the low credit limit. Although it wasn’t as upsetting and annoying as the other issues. Overall, I would not recommend getting this credit card. It’s more trouble than it’s worth.

October 1 Update: I am still waiting for my security deposit to be returned. I sent a letter to this stupid company a month ago saying I wanted my money back quickly. I have yet to receive it and it’s money that I’m in desperate need of right now. STAY. AWAY. FROM. THIS. COMPANY.

Helps

I have had a firstprogress card for about 4 years now. They report every month to all 3. I have never had any issues with them. I really have nothing bad to say at all. I couldn't get approved for a credit card at the time, so I got a secured card with them. And I love it, it's help to repair my credit. I plan to keep this card for many more years. Last year I was involved in a domestic situation, I had to leave my job and my home. I had no car no money no job and because of that I had to missed 2 payments. It's been 12 months now and I have been back on track. I plan to write a letter to First progress and explaining the situation, praying that they will forgive me and in good faith take away the late payments. It was my fault but it was something I couldn't control.
