Going to a health retreat is a big deal and choosing the right one is an even bigger deal. Over the years I’ve tried a few and they’ve mostly been ok. But I’ve just returned from a week with FitFarms in the Lakes and I just can’t praise them enough, they are in another league.
To begin with the location and accommodation is gorgeous. Follow that with the sense of care that the team takes with their ‘retreaters’ which relaxes everyone and helps build a camaraderie with each other.
Then to the exercise routine. You’re encouraged to reach your highest goal and there’s a fantastic range of classes to help you do that. Brenda manages to get such results whilst still being kind and supportive. Honestly 10/10 !
Then the fabulous food, different every day and all freshly prepared and beautifully presented by Stephen. Lots of comments about no one feeling hungry at any time.
To round off an absolutely fabulous week we had options of massages from Jane slotted into our programme, which everyone loved.
I’ve definitely found my Fitness’Tribe’ and I’m looking forward to practicing the advice we were given to keep up the good work at home.

A fantastic week with great results
This was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I enjoyed the variety of exercise classes (everything from body pump to Charleston dance classes and core workouts), walks in beautiful scenery, and delicious nutritious meals prepared by Stephen who talked us through the ingredients of each meal when it was served to complement the learning from the nutrition class. We had a fabulous coach/PT throughout the week - Brenda is extremely knowledgeable and caring - she looked after everyone individually in classes, adapting exercises to work round our current fitness levels, any existing medical conditions or preferences, and ensuring that we all were being as effective as possible, whilst being safe. Also, if a particular class wasn’t for you, it was fine to take time out too. There was also the opportunity to book additional treatments such as a massage - brilliant for tired legs ( thank you Jane). I think the fact that there were a number of returners on the course speaks volumes. The whole atmosphere was one of support from all the other group members, and Stephen, Brenda and Jane. It was a great week with great results - I lost weight and inches, and gained a new group of friends.
Fitfarms - Definitely worth it
This was a really wonderful experience(12/06-19/06). The whole team, Stephen, Brenda and Jane, were all really lovely and you could tell they all really care. The food was delicious and filling. The exercises were varied which kept things interesting and fun, Brenda inspires the confidence to learn how far you can actually push yourself without going too far, but could be done at your own pace/to you're own capabilities, making adjustments if need be. Jane is very fabulous at all her treatments but especially the lymphatic massage. I really enjoyed the week, I learned a lot and it definitely has re-motivated me to to continue with my journey. Thank you so very much.

I’ve been to FitFarms 3 times. Once to Scotland once to Devon and now Ive just come back from The Cotswolds. The team are amazing, full of knowledge and encouragement all the way. The Cotswolds accommodation is fantastic. It’s a traditional Cotswolds farm where we worked out in a Victorian barn and on a lawn in front of a farmhouse. The accommodation was spotless. I’ve already signed up for another week in August.

Just got back from a week at fitfarm in the Peak District. It’s the second time with fitfarm and had a great time with a fantastic group of people. Brenda the instructor is so warm and knowledgeable- truly inspiring. I would thoroughly recommend this company if you want to get fitter and healthier and have a more positive mindset.
Derbyshire fitness retreat
I spent 5 days at the Fitness farm in Derbyshire and was really surprised by the excellent food and training. Stephen cooked and prepared some delicious recipes, although the meals were small, they were very nutritious. Brenda was an excellent trainer, I didn’t feel an invisible participant in a class, she treated us all as individuals and assisted and gave tips for training with various injuries. An excellent week and I was surprised by the health results. Very inspiring, highly recommended.
Caring, Sharing and Repairing
It was great to have Stephen cooking food for us and explaining the protein balance and nutrients in each meal and why the ingredients were chosen - all delicious dishes that you can recreate easily at home and with the added benefit of access to retreat recipes as part of their approach . Each meal was a learning opportunity and aligned to informative workshops taking my nutrition understanding to a new level and usefully signposting new priorities and better choices for my current stage of menopause. Located in a beautiful part of Derbyshire with a super supportive group of fellow guests.
A rather unfortunate hip spasm on the first day meant my participation in the fitness side could have been wiped out - but no! PT Brenda helped me get back on my feet when it first happened with an expert massage and then gave me alternative exercises to push me within safe limits despite my unexpected limitations. Though I limped through the week my weight loss and more importantly fat loss was still comparable with other wonderful more mobile guests. Having been on health camps with other companies it’s clear that they walk their talk, and really care about their guests, I think they more than deserve their great reputation and growing fan base of returners. Next time hopefully both legs will be working as normal!

The whole fitness week was fantastic. Brenda the instructor was so knowledgeable, full of enthusiasm, professional and caring. I’ve learnt so much from her from correcting exercise positions, understanding the benefits of a good diet and lifestyle to how to implement this. She pushed me to exercise more than I thought I could but understood when to ease off. An amazing trainer plus a lovely person.
The food Stephen made for us was delicious, very nutritious, I always finished it all. The portions were smaller than I’m used to and at times I was hungry but the nutrition of the dishes fuelled my body and I’m trying to implement smaller portions now at home.
It’s also definitely worth booking in with Jane to ease your sore muscles too.
It’s run so well, you can tell the whole team really care and are passionate about improving their guest’s health.

Wow, what an experience and what a team. I can't recommend more highly. I was nervous coming into my time at FitFarm but from the first moment I was put at ease. The knowledge, the expertise and the kindness shown to each and everyone of us, was just incredible. I know that me and my husband will be back. Booking this was the best thing we have done for ourselves and our family. Thank you FitFarm Team. I can't believe the change in our bodies and minds in just 3 days, wish we had booked longer!

This was my 1st experience of FitFarms and I was really impressed with the professional team and structure of the course. The staff are all fantastic especially Brenda who has a very wicked side, but in a good way.
The meals are great and carefully prepared fresh every day by Stephen and they not only explain the reasoning behind the meals but the make up of all the ingredients. The food is really delicious but I am not a fussy eater so enjoyed all the meals. On returning home I have changed the way we eat as a result of the course.
My 1st experience of a dance/zumba class was brilliant and Kim was very patient with some poor dad dancing which was hilarious. I would highly recommend the course for all levels of fitness if your aim is to loose weight or just focus on small fitness goals. It was a great reset and I will be back. Thanks again to all the FF team.

A genuinely transformative few days at FitFarms. The days were very well structured and thought through. Brenda is an exceptional fitness trainer — motivating, inspiring, authentic, and so caring. She managed to teach me how to do press-ups properly. The walks were lovely. The food was wonderful, so carefully prepared, fresh ingredients and far better than you'd expect from a retreat kitchen. The location was beautiful, and the community spirit among guests was a real and unexpected bonus — the kind of warmth that makes the whole experience memorable. My only suggestions would be slightly more downtime for reading or reflection, and a touch more space in the rooms. My room was quite cramped and a bath would have been welcome. I came away feeling genuinely better and with new habits around food and exercise, and having had many interesting conversations.

This is my third time at fitfarms and each time I have had a great experience. It's an opportunity to focus on myself and learn new things in a really supportive environment. This time I was fitter than the last time as had been following the plan I made when I was there - eating differently and exercising more. It's suitable whether you need to start on a fitness and healthy eating journey, or just want a refresher. I'm sure I'll be back again!

Online Fit Farms has worked for me with firstly, the motivation from the one on one personal trainer and their considered scheduling of exercises around my work and home life and secondly, the considered exercises that push you but not so much that you’d quit! The food and fluid documenting has also made me take ownership of what I consume (with some give and take!) I feel better generally after only 4 weeks in terms of health, wellbeing and also the added benefit of less joint stiffness! I look forward to my exercises now which are never boring. Tough, challenging, enlightening and overall excellent!
I needed a kick start to fitness after retiring and I found the course tough, challenging, enlightening, emotional (in a good way) and overall excellent. The food was delicious, the workshops illuminating with a structure to work towards and carry forward. The exercise classes were tough but enjoyable and I was amazed at how much my body could do when pushed! The highlight of every day was probably the restorative hour where you could reset your body and mind, ready to start again the next day. I lost 8 inches almost 5lbs in just 5 days, incredible! I've now signed up for the online course to keep the momentum going. Would highly recommend to anyone who is stuck in a rut and wants to improve on fitness.

So! It was truly an enlightening experience. Brenda and Lamorna approached wellness from both a physical and mental perspective, making it an educational and enriching journey all around.

The programme itself was beautifully balanced and could be followed entirely at your own pace.

Measurable results in one week online
Recipes were quick & easy, workouts were hard, but by modifying where necessary, I got through. My coach, Brenda, is supportive and encouraging. (And has a great sense of humor, too!) After only one week of the online program, I see noticeable results. An inch here and there, a couple of kg… I’m headed in the right direction!
