This life insurance co.pany is a scam. I am 100% disabled veteran whom never applied for their life insurance and received no documents let an agent give my baking information and stole over 400 dollars from me. I had to go to my bank and block this company from stealing more money from me

If I could give them less than 1 star I…

If I could give them less than 1 star I would. I would not recommend them to anyone. To speak to anyone you must wait on hold for more than an hour every single time you call. After submitting paperwork, 2.5 months later they still don't have the paperwork reviewed and the account updated. Terrible customer service!!! Run as fast as you can from this company.

Old Fashioned Company stuck in the last century

Absolutely disgusting customer service. Spoke to them three different times and was told three different stories. One Agent actually hung up on me. It took 30 business days (6 weeks) for them to issue a check. I was told the date it was mailed and two weeks later I still haven’t received it. In the 21st century, there is no reason to be sending out checks. Electronic deposits are now the norm. I’m not surprised how dismissive they are of their customers. I contacted the CEO and he didn’t even have the courtesy to respond. After 51 years with them, I can say from experience avoid this organisation at all costs.

Customer Service Asleep Behind the Wheel

Well, one thing that is certain about Foresters Financial is that they absolutely do not pick up their phones. I'm still on hold as I speak and it's been up to an hour on hold. When told to do the call back option, nobody called back. I'm giving them a one star because I can't even talk to a human being.

I have been a member since 1979

I have been a member since 1979. Agent was local and came to our house...........Now in 2025 its almost impossible to talk to human about business.
Waited on hold for 30 minutes before connecting, and I was not even trying to cancel or redeem a policy!
everything is directed to a 1 800 number or the website, but you cant get anything accomplished there. VERY HARD to do business with! I would run the other way....... Good luck to all if you ever need to collect on a Life Insurance claim.
Just an FYI, they are now owned by Nassau Financial Group.

This company is a big scam

This company is a big scam. I have had a policy with them for 10 years, which qualifies me for the loan I requested. They claimed to have sent a check to my address, which they have on file. After 14 days of not receiving anything, I called to inquire about it. They informed me they were not aware of the situation and would send a new check in a few days.

I waited another 4 days for them to send out another check, and then I had to restart the waiting period of 14 days. Once that time passed with no check received, I called again. This time, I was told that USPS had returned the check due to an address error on their part. After a few hours, I called back, and a different representative said the check should be reveived by the 14th of this month. I explained that I had just spoken with someone who mentioned an address error. She acknowledged the mistake and informed me that they would issue another check, but this time without providing a date.

Now, I have to wait for yet another check to be sent and endure the same 14-day waiting period, unsure of when this will finally be resolved.

I decided to cancel my policy with…

I decided to cancel my policy with Forester. Submitted all documents but they stated my certificate number was wrong so I submitted my surrender form again. I started this process March 2nd plenty of time to stop the automatic withdrawal, no withdrawal was done on the 20th but withdrawal done on 25th. I was told that if all documents were faxed before 13th no withdrawal but 5 days later 202.56 withdrawn from my account. Every time I called I am given different information. It didn’t take 25 business days to send policy or start withdrawals from my account, why does it take 25 days to cancel policy. A letter was faxed to Forester for my refund.

Why is it taking so long to get my cash…

Why is it taking so long to get my cash value money after canceling my certificate? I have been told two different stories after calling the support line. I was told it takes 21 days to process on the first call. On the second call (after 27 days) I was told it takes 35 days to process. What is the truth? Why is IOF doing this to me after over 40 years as a member? Is IOF in financial trouble and unable to pay out what they owe? It has now been 29 days since I submitted my request and still nothing.

Very hard to cancel

Super rude customer service. Extremely difficult to cancel! They make the beneficiary sign and if you’re no contact with the beneficiary, good luck getting it canceled. Currently having to get a lawyer involved to cancel a policy that I pay for? Makes no sense. I don’t want your services stop making me pay! Been dealing with this for months.

Based on all the other negative…

Based on all the other negative reviews, I am beginning to believe this is a SCAM.

I emailed them on 10/11/2024, received an automated response from their system stating that I would be hearing back from them within 2-3 business days. It is now 10/29/24, and not one word from them.

My next call is to my lawyer. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Do NOT buy products from this company.

Forester update I was told my surrender…

Forester update I was told my surrender check would be mailed outlast Friday,
Started this process mid March,
Now I’m told it will be this week by Thursday.
This has been a horrific experience and unacceptable , everything is good with company till they owe you money ,
Would not advise to use this company for any reason, unless your alright waiting 3 to 4 months to get your money, every time I call I’m told something different, very dysfunctional company. Amazing that they are in business for 150 years.
ADVISE TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM FORESTER, I would think it’s a new company, process changes weekly on how they do things or at least what they tell their customers

They’re an extremely selfish company

They’re an extremely selfish company, I wouldn’t trust them at all. Sounds good on paper but can tell how much greed runs them from the top. If you owe them anything they’re gonna demand it, and don’t expect any consistency from them. Should be 0 stars.

Agent agent told us we would get cash…

Agent agent told us we would get cash back at the end of the policy! After we received a letter increasing our premiums 3 fold/month, I called to decline renewing. I was told no cash back! The customer service rep did not tell me about the additional form and copy of Certificate needed, along with a signed letter. Good thing I checked online on how to cancel! Very dissatisfied!

Customer service is a tremendous joke

Customer service is a tremendous joke. Always excuses as to why things aren't done. They want everything but blood to prove it's you before they will talk to you. I have called many times over the last 6mo trying to change information on a policy. I was told to fill out forms and email back, which I did same day. Months later find out it was never completed because I didn't send a copy of my ID. I was not told to send an ID! They mailed notification to an address we haven't lived at in 3 years and then told me I never updated the address, which I did, several times. Sent in forms AGAIN, asked for it to be expedited as this is incredibly time sensitive after they did not do what they were supposed to do the first time. It's been 3 weeks since I sent the second set of forms and after arguing with this lady for 20min who's telling me I'm not authorized on the account (which I am since 2015) it still isn't done and apparently wont be done until the end of the month. This woman was extremally rude and needs to be fired. All she did was talk over me and tell me there's nothing she can do. There's nothing she can do to speed it up after I was told previously by 3 customer service agents it would be expedited?! Their alleged 11 day time frame to complete forms does not start at the time you email the forms. It starts whenever someone decides to print said forms and start working on them.
Every time I call it's at minimum 45min on hold waiting for customer service. Agents are largely very rude and completely unwilling to help. Every time it's another lie to tell me what I want to hear but nothing actually gets done. I am completely fed up with this company. If it's this hard to change some information on a policy, I have concerns when this life insurance policy needs to actually be cashed out that they will do it without a million more forms and excuses, if at all. Unbelievable. Take your business anywhere else!
