Goods exactly as ordered, price a little less than known alternatives, and delivery within a day. And saved about $10 nett offsetting postage against road tolls, had I picked them up.

simple sturdy tool

Item was promptly shipped. Delivery tracking worked adequately. Item is sturdy & looks like it should give good service.
All adds up to a competent supplier, which gets 4 stars. No opportunity to see if it warranted 5 stars, which I reserve for exceptional service (eg, when item is lost or damaged).

What matters is how a business responds when they don't have to do anything

Its easy to score a 5 when every thing goes well. But for me, what scores a 5 is how a business responds when they are within their rights to do nothing, but choose to step up.
That didn't happen with Forestry Tools. Their attitude in such situations, from their own actions, was 'that's your problem, not ours'. Obviously their profits are so big they don't need to worry about individual customers.
So I shopped elsewhere and even with the exchange rate and postage got exactly the same product cheaper from the US.
Incidentally, I never asked for a refund or even expected one - this is not about money at all, I couldn't care less about that. I would have returned the product if I could but it was not possible to identify my mistake (I did order the wrong one and acknowledged that - that was never in question) until the product had been fitted.
Given their website lacks the required info, and the product lacks any identifying feature that allows you to determine model number etc, it is a simple mistake to make and if I was the supplier, I would have offered some assistance in purchasing the 2nd refill.
They haven't even edited their website (the refill tape page, NOT the original product page, which is no good if you don't know what the product you have is due to complete absence of any identifying mark or label) to ensure this mistake can't be made again. A few extra words would be all it takes, an edit they could make in seconds, but no, they appear to be OK if someone else makes the same mistake.
You can see from their reply what their attitude is. Im big on supporting businesses that support me, and will continue to do so even if I can get cheaper elsewhere. This sort of attitude though is not something I will support with my money.
Basically, their comments 100% support the title of my review - you can judge a business best (just as you can judge the character of a man) by how it responds when it is within its rights to do nothing.
After all - what are they in business for - to enforce their own rules or to keep customers coming back?
If the former - they are doing well. If the latter, they failed in this case - just so they could stand their ground and be right and save a few bucks (which would have been money well-spent in keeping a happy customer).
Pretty poor business sense really, but not uncommon in today's marketplace. So, zero future Trust from me for these guys.

You ordered the wrong refill for your Spencer Logging Tape when our site clearly states which tape the refills are for, installed it and complained that it was incorrect. You then wanted us to pay for your error, rather than you taking responsibility for your mistake.

As you just edited your review, we will add the following: our website clearly states which refill suits which tape. The fact that you didn't identify which one you had (or simply asked us for assistance, we could have guided you prior to purchase if you had asked) and then ordered the incorrect one, installed it, then got angry because we didn't offer to pay for your mistake...wow.
