Haven't finished the course but so far…

Haven't finished the course but so far it is amazing. The amount of thought and energy put into this by its creators can be felt by how complete it feels. What I mean by that is that I haven't felt the need to go and look for other learning resources on the included subjects. If I don't understand something I can just go back through the videos or speak with a mentor either through the course video's comment section or the facebook group. Also, I have done several follow-along type of projects from other free sources and although they help with screen-time they can't compare to the confidence gained from the DIY projects that freemote assigns.

Superb insight and guidance

Superb insight and guidance.

As far into the program as I am, I am quite pleased with my experience. Solid info with a few minor tweaks and nuances which I've not seen from other sources I've used. The personalized feedback has gotten to the heart of some of my issues with styling CSS. And I'm seeing a definite improvement in my approach to future projects.

Amazing value for self-motivated learners

I took a chance on this course in the spring of last year and it was the push I needed to switch careers and become a developer. And I still am less than halfway through the course content. That's how powerful this course was for me.

Luckily, I now have a job as a developer at a small ecommerce agency and I absolutely love my job. Weeks 2 and 3 of the course gave me enough background to be able to start learning on the job. Before that, I took the portfolio building part of the course (in week 4) and ran with it, freelancing as Webflow designer and developer for friends' businesses. And that freelance work, even though it was using Webflow, was the catalyst for me getting the job I now have.

I will admit that I didn't take the linear path straight through the entire course from beginning to end, and I still need and want to go through the rest of the course content (which is constantly being updated based on community feedback) but doing the course with my ears open to real-life opportunities to apply some of what I'm learning has given me results that I'm very happy with. There's so much value in this course that it's possible to take a small fraction of the course (weeks 1-4), start building stuff with this knowledge, network with the people in your life, and change your entire life by doing so. I can say that with certainty because it's exactly what I did. But to do this you have to be willing to 1) be self-motivated 2) be in conversation with people in your life about what you're doing, and 3) be willing to take calculated risks.

If you take this course, you have access to a Facebook group and detailed video reviews of your course projects. These are invaluable resources that helped me stay on-track with my learning, as I never felt isolated or hopeless as I had in the past when trying to teach myself.

The course content itself is high quality. But it's not always totally perfect in its design. However, don't let that stop you because the Freemote team is constantly adding to and improving the lessons. For example, when I bought the course, I (and others I spoke to in the course) felt that the learning curve of week 3 was way too steep. Before long, the instructors took the community feedback and added entire modules to week 3 to make learning Liquid much more of a gradual process. I recently revisited week 3 for my job, and found these new videos were addressing exactly what had been missing.

This level of care is what you can expect from the course. I can say with confidence that they are obsessed with making this course the best it can be. The bottom line is that the folks at Freemote want you to succeed, and it will be up to you to work hard with what's available in the course (which is a lot of value) to make that happen.

If you are someone that has been in a…

If you are someone that has been in a college-degree career and is looking for a coding program that won't cost 20k+, this is it. I'm that person I described above. I thought it was too late for me with having college debt and even considered leaving my career to start entry level in a blue collar office job. This program has given me great hope. I'm one month in and I'm loving the fact that it is self-paced.
You get lots of support. There is a Facebook group community. You get support/feedback/suggestions from mentors. I believe you also get support, even after finishing the program.
You get great assignments to practice your learning immediately.

They follow a "find the answer on your own first" approach, for a highly good reason. They give you organized knowledge and tools, and then give you a project to do. As an educator myself, I love this because I'm starting to ask the right questions and think more like a developer. You would be in a productive struggle. I feel that they really want to prepare you for the real world, rather than just holding your hand the entire way and then just leaving you on your own. They want you to build a habit of being a problem solver as a front-end developer, which I appreciate. If you've already given it a good try in figuring it out on your own, you can definitely ask for help! Of course, they have a solution and code-walkthrough for each project so that you don't completely feel stuck.

With the 60-day money-back guarantee, I really don't see you having anything to lose at all.

Enjoying the Process

I think every person will have a different experience when taking this course. Some people may need longer to grasp ideas and this includes myself but overall I would say this course does a very good job preparing content that can be understood by any learner. I am completely new to learning web development but I'm enjoying the process because of the way this course is prepared to give you practical lessons that can be applied right away. I can visualize how I will use what I'm learning for future clients. I like that the instructors will review your projects and give you a custom video with critique. Lastly, I haven't finished the course yet but this is my experience so far.

Worth it!

I am two weeks into this course and so far I am very impressed by what I've seen. The videos are crisp and easy to digest. I have a background in web development so came in thinking I could skip past the HTML and CSS sections. I am glad I didn't, because I learned a lot of neat tricks! I was pleasantly surprised to find that at the end of submitting a project, you get detailed and constructive feedback on your work. Also, the community is extremely supportive and the mentors are always ready to help you out. I highly recommend this course if you have the means, and the time.

Your atypical coding boot-camp!!

I have had no experience with coding. It is a well structured 7 weeks program, however it depends on individual skill levels and how much time the person is able to spend with the given projects. Consistency definitely pays off every effort and this is true for the Freemote.com learning as well.
In a very short period of time I am able to build web-sites, having a better understanding of html, CSS, basic JavaScript and of course Shopify, starting from literally zero knowledge in these areas.
Nice Facebook community , where questions asked and answered, and all the projects have individual feedback which speeds up the learning.
I highly recommend this course for anyone who is willing to learn.

This bootcamp is amazing. I can't stress enough how amazing the resources are. The instructors Jan and Aaron are very attentive to updates that need to be made as well as being wonderful mentors! The community is amazing as well. Well worth the money!

This course is a game changer.

I joined the Freemote community in March of 2021. I'll preface this by saying that it wasn't exactly "smooth sailing" for me, as I have a wife, 3 kids, and at the time a full-time job. I did the course 4 hours a day every day after working 8-10 hours, and put double that in on the weekends. After about two months, I completed the program and set out to make a name for myself. About a month in, I was ready to quit my dead end job and pursuit the career of my dreams.

For those of you that are serious, I urge you to join Freemote. The course works if you are willing to commit, and the community is positive and open for those hungry for knowledge. If you're serious about changing your life, you WILL find success.

Good luck on your journey!
